FFXI LGBT Community, who are you?
Thats an understatement Ina lol, I think I started hanging out in Neo's ls more unless the more normal crowd was on, if it was the random weirdos we collected, I usually didn't stay in it long.

I did the fit test on Insanity and my legs decided they didn't want to work anymore. That's what I get for skipping workouts for so long. But hey at least you started going again so props to ya ^^ Asura.Dewd said: » Just came back from rafting and my arms are sore... :( How much did it cost for you to go rafting? I was planning on visiting some friends that live in Sacramento and that sounds like something fun to do if I ever make it up there. Well yeh, I wouldn't want to be boring and normal after all :P

You pay per raft and they come in different sizes so you'd just split the price of the raft. We had two rafts.. maybe about 8 or 9 people on each and we paid 25$ each. Le splat. Ina how long is the course you took for school? I saw it was 2-5 years and wondered how many people went the full 5 years or if it was standard to just do 2-3?
5 years... idk about that one, I only did the pre employment one which was 1 year, there is also a 2 year course... Unless by 2-5 years you are looking at the apprenticeship program. From what I remember that mainly on the job learning with a couple 8 week blocks in the school split up through out your time as an apprentice.
Hmm, it might have been the apprenticeship one I looked at. Which do you think is the better option, 1 year or 2 year course or the apprenticeship route? I'm trying to decide whats more beneficial in the long run, since my friend's brother has decided we should eventually open a restaurant kinda place lol, since his brother is a chef, I'd be doing the baking/pastry thing along side his mother and all that fun stuff hes trying to plan out.
Probably the apprenticeship if you want to go out, it comes down to how you would rather learn. Going with the 1 year course it's mainly the basics and gave a solid foundation, we covered breads, muffins/cookies, cakes, various desserts and an intorduction to chocolate working. The 2 year course they move onto more advanced stuff such as sugar working. If you do the one year course you also have the option to sign up to be taken into the second year of the 2 year, however there are limited spots available and priority is given based on your grades so it can be competitive and nothing is guaranteed.
The apprenticeship as I said is mainly on the job learning, you find a pastry chef to apprentice under either on your own or the school can help to hook you up. From there you get a proficency book and before you can compleate the apprenticeship your chef must sign off that you have demonstrated an adequate level of mastery of those skills. You will also have an in school part where you do the theory portion of the course. One big advantage to this is because you are working you will also get paid while you are working, also in theory the government will pay a large chunk of your tuition fee (Idk for sure how this works for internation students though). There should be some info on it Here (I'm just pulling a couple site off google) or In here that might help you out. I'm gonna read the links you gave and probably look around some more, but apprenticeship sounds like the best course of action to go with, especially since on the job training + paid is better than doing all the schooling AND still trying to find a job to work around my classes and such, which I know I still will have classes but it won't be as hard to deal with like that, thanks Ina!
No problem, I have some stuff from high school lieing around somewhere that I'll see if I can find and pass along anything helpful form that.
I moved on from school stuff, to researching everything I need to get/to do to be able to move up there, either temporarily for school/work or as a permanent residence, so much stuff to read up on and learn! I might be able to wing some prior experience before I move up there too, but I don't think that'd matter for schooling would it? Working maybe it would and might make it easier to find someone to apprentice under, hmm.
