But I can do a decent job singing of this song, so we used to hangout and play/sing Island songs while we drank. It was a much more relaxed lifestyle out there. I miss it sometimes.

Ohhh, more great stuff. The Specials were GREAT. I posted one of their songs some pages back, but I don't remember which one.
Very cool that Strummer and the Mescaleros did such justice to White Man In Hammersmith Palais, as that's one of my favorite tracks from the first Clash album.
I'm not as familiar with Strummer's solo work. That video above pleases me. You know how frequently people from a fantastic band can ruin some of the band's work when they go solo and perform it. I'm glad he didn't do that.
It's sad that he's gone.
I like The Clash's "Pressure Drop," but I LOVE The Specials' version:
(I don't care for the Toots original.)
More great 2 Tone that I listen to frequently (well, they started on 2 Tone anyway, as The Beat)

For the longest time I thought the singer for Creedance Clearwater was a black man, he just doesnt sound white. Thats classic rock that doesnt age, its great stuff and can easily give me chills.

Yep, he had such a hard childhood too. He covered a NiN song perfectly, He could make it so every song he made sounded like his own. He was a master, and truly a musician without enough recognition.

This is exactly how I feel about him too.
That NIN cover brought me to tears when I first heard it, and then again when I watched the video.
There aren't many people I don't know personally but whose deaths affect me in a powerful way. But when he died, I could feel the loss of him and was immensely saddened.
I'm going to feel that way when Tom Waits goes too. I can see what it is about his music that a lot of people don't like, but Tom Waits is another of my all-time most-loved and most-admired musicians.
My friend really likes Tom Waits, but I just can't seem to get into it
