Fast Cast Gear/Macro Question

I am currently playing around with macroing in Fast Cast gear at the start of a cast then macroing in potency gear before the casting finishes. I have read on various forums that this works to reduce recast and casting time, but I cannot for the life of me get this to work. The spell lands at full potency but recast and casting times are not reduced.

Do I need to wait a certain amount of time before switching to potency gear? My Fast Cast gear is equipped right as the spell starts casting, then I switch to potency gear 1 second after that.

Would appreciate any feedback if you have gotten this to work. Thanks.

Are you using spellcast? If so it should work using "precast" "midcast", etc. Otherwise I'm sure it'll be hard to time right :/

Recast time only changes if you END in fast cast gear
Casting time should be in effect if you start w/ the gear on

Ya I am using precast and midcast with a delay of 1 second on the midcast...

Ah, that kinda makes sense Altar. Its hard for me to tell if casting time is reduced but I know for sure that recast is not being reduced.

Is fastcast 100% proc? I swear when I was solo'ing Tegmine earlier nin/rdm I could sometimes get ichi off between attacks with no slow on, and other times it wouldn't go up for ***...

If it is on before you cast yes.

It should be 100% proc but there are times it doesn't seem to for me either <_< I'm guessing it's a lag issue since I switch into it (maybe takes a small amount of time to process and occasionally it'll skip it?)

have u casted without any fastcast gear to test the cast times?

the recast times will not be changed as u finish cast in potency gear.

i make myself blink tho for those solo kite NMs so i can take off running at 35% spellcast and still have it go up

always seem to proc for me when testing in my idle set of Vermy + Haste

Yah, I'm very familiar with it all. It's incredibly obvious on spells like Blizzard3, where the difference is a second or more. I'm guessing it's just server lag.

So macroing in potency gear before spell finishes; pretty much the consensus seems to be will affect casting time but not recast.... that is good to know thanks guys.
