I was 16, and I thought I had met the girl of my dreams.

Her dream was to go into broadway, and see a nice broadway show, I of course liked broadway shows, so I listened to her for a few months, and then decided what show I should take her too. She had her heart set on seeing the little mermaid, she was in love with it. Had the DVD, made me watch it on several occasions, but I didn't mind, after all she was the love of my life.

Over the course of those months, I had worked as many hours as my job would allow, and picked up as much extra odd jobs as I could to get a nice income to allow for the perfect evening.

Now you must realize, at 16, this was a lot of money that I was about to drop. I would make the 1 year anniversary of a lifetime.

I...
-Bought her a pink dress that she had been dreaming over for far to long
-Bought her brand new shoes to match
-Got a Limo to take us into NYC, to a restaurant called Nobu(She adored sushi)
-Had the Limo then take us to Broadway, where we would watch The Little Mermaid on the main stage
-The Limo would then take us to the pier, where we would go on a guided helicopter tour over NYC.
-Then the Limo would take us home, where I had baked a little cake for us to eat at her house.

All in all, I would say that was the most romantic thing I have ever done for a woman.

Holy Hannah, if you're only 16 and doing that.. you're doing your job right.

I can't wait until this happens to me one day. =)) I haven't had anything truly romantic happen to me yet..

At the age of 16...thats a big step. A bigger step than half the guys out there would do even in their late 20's to early 30's. Props to you and that it turned out great it seems. Good Job and Good Luck. More balls than most guys out there got =^.^= After all you watched the little mermaid with her ^.^

Was her 21st birthday started the night with getting her a stretch limo and 12 roses.
Then took her to the kareoke pub we met at. I proposed whilst singing on the kareoke. Sang "I got you babe" by sonny and cher.
Got the kareoke person to cut the music at "I got you to wear my ring" and went down on one knee.

Been married 3 years now.

Not really romantic, more cute and awww situation. It was christmas 03, was in a long distance relationship. I think the best thing she got me was the card... You open the card and it says "I have written a reaalllly long list of things i want for christmas this year" You gotta then unfold the card out like your looking at the list, but all thats on the list is Y O U in big capital letters.

For our anniversary I cooked her a 3 course meal (chef by trade) candelit. Ran her a bath filled with rose petals and oils lit by candels and got her a bunch of flowers.

Other times I have surprised her with a path lit by candles going straight to bed room to a bed covered in roses and rose petals.

Done other things too. Worth it in end you get some nice rewards yourself lol

Trying too hard Masekase!

Different girl: We had been seeing eachother for a week or so, ended up going to a party together, drank heavily, passed out together, I don't think sex was involved. Woke up hungover to hell the next morning while she was still sleep. I went to Dunkin Donuts to get her some coffee to have it for her when she woke up.

On the way home from work a few months ago, I picked up some food and randomly stopped by a friend's house.

Me: "Hungry? I got two."
Her: "Sorry, already ate with my boyfriend."
Me: "oh, ok... mind if I use your place to eat? My place is getting fumigated."
Her: "Actually, we're about to go to the movies and I need to lock up."

I eat alone in my car.

My girlfriend and I were sitting on a swing on her back porch reminiscing about how in love we were, and wondering aloud what the future may hold for us. After about an hour of chatting, I remembered I had somewhere to be. I kissed her goodbye and hopped in my sweet, sweet Hyundai Accent.

I rustled around in the glove box for a minute, then I began reversing down her driveway (which extends to a garage behind her house). I slowed down as I passed her, still sitting on the swing, and rolled my window down--I had to do this manually, since I think power windows are pretentious (not because I was uber poor at the time...). She waved to me as though she expected me to say something like "I love you; I'll call you later!" Instead, I flashed the ring I had just pulled from the glove box and yelled "Hey! Wanna marry me?!"

She just stared at me for a while with a look on her face that simply screamed: WTF! Is this honestly how you wanted to do this?

After about ten seconds of silence she finally spoke. "Really?" she asked. The question was genuine. My proposal was so bad, she didn't know if I was being serious or not.

The only response I could come up with was an enthusiastic (and somehow still optimistic) "Uh huh!"

She got up, walked over to the car and looked in the window at the ring I was holding for a few seconds. Then she got in the car and held out her hand with a big smile and finally said yes. I slid the ring on her finger and then we laughed about how stupid I am for the next fifteen minutes, or so.

If you're trying too hard to be romantic arent you just being cliche? For example if you buy your girlfriend a rose and chocolates on valentine's day you're an insincere ***. Why do cliche things at cliche times as an expression of romance rather than random confirmations of your affection? I guess women like being bored.

The good ones try to make the random ones happen, but really, I wouldn't mind roses, chocolate, and company on valentines day.

Hmm. I know a lot of girls who refuse to celebrate Vday for that reason. Come to think of it they complain about everything.

I agree with you, it's not a romantic gesture if you feel obligated to do it. But really, do you need to add 'insincere ***' and the like in there? And the 'I guess women like being bored' sounded bitter to me.

Well I guess I could remove *** from the sentence. If you're insincere and she sees that she will be bored, and if you're insincere you're insincere, so my statement is still accurate.

i would shoot my bf if he would join the stupid valentine crap. i avoid this day <.<

as ppl already said, dont need a day, invented by some greedy idiots to exchange gifts with your gf / bf. I'd prefer a real surprise on a random day. preferably something that ISNT bought...like boring stuff as chocolate or flowers...ugh

Well, it's the thought that counts right?
Could always hang it upside down and let it dry out if you're the sentimental type.
