Server Economy

How is each server's "economy" value calculated on this site? Is it basically just the amount of gil in circulation? Gil transactions at the Jeuno/Whitegate Auction House? Number of any type of transaction at the AH?

Just wondering after I checked out the "12-month" historic view of the graph and noticed the enormous decline since this time last year. (cause: RMTs gettin busted and removed from the game, therefore less cash in circulation? Regular players quitting, therefore fewer people playing/trading?)

I think the answer to that question is included in a FAQ that I failed to upload. Once I get that up I will post a link here. If not me, someone will.

I believe there is a selection of goods that are being compared. Just like Economics, they choose a basket of goods (oranges, a haircut service, a meal etc) to compare and compute an index~ For FFXIAH, it could be SH, Hauby, Serket Ring (just an exmaple) since these are pretty common items that people look at~

The basket of goods (the list of items) aren't revealed so the index isn't easily altered, but then stuff like price fixing might affect it a little~ overall its a pretty accurate index xD if you ask me.

I'm just curious knowing what it means exactly. :s I would've checked the FAQ for the answer, though, if there was one. ;)
