Elemental Staves And FoV |

Elemental Staves and FoV
Ok I'm not sure if I'm seeing things or something but in the rules for Fields of Valor augmented items states that nothing with a hidden effect can be augmented. However I see that people have augmented the elemental staves. I am curious as to what if anything this means. Either one of two things is happening either you can augment things with hidden effects or the staves effect isn't hidden. and if that is the case then why do they increase elemental effectiveness?

I don't think this is really classified as a "Hidden Effect" tbh..

its certainly a hidden effect as its not detailed in the description, the -/+ perp cost etc. i have augmented alot of things but i haven't seen a augmented ele stave or tried to do one. maybe by augmenting it you null the hidden effect.. well i know what i'm doing when i log on. if nobody enlightens by then, i'll post my findings.
Quote: you null the hidden effect You don't. Got 25 augmented Aquilo's, the hidden effect isn't nullified. Fairy.Tedwardian

ah, right on. anything good with all those Aquilo's?
Fairy.Tedwardian said: ah, right on. anything good with all those Aquilo's? Not yet haha :d My best is MND+2 :/ Only good for para. But I'm looking for ele skill+5 / MaB+4 / MaCC+4 or INT+2. Any of these will do. MND+2 is actually pretty nice, but good luck. (OMG 25 /wrists)

yeah.. i haven't had much luck with augments.
but i'm all for a dice roll one of these days.. good luck! Remora.Ninian said: MND 2 is actually pretty nice, but good luck. (OMG 25 /wrists) Yeah at least it can be used. But I mean BLM doesn't really need +MND on aquilo's :/ I don't use paralyze a lot, and when I need to, there's usually a RDM around so I just let the RDM handle it. True, I was thinking about how it'd be nice for RDM, but ahahahaha BLM ONRY. :<
ok so it doesn't remove the hidden effect and FoV says that you can't augment items with hidden effects but obviously the staves have an effect on an enormous amount of things so either the entire community of ffxi is having a psych-sematic response to the staves ie: they see the effect because they believe it to be there and there is no effect, The staves hidden effect isn't hidden and is a product of the elemental affinty or for some reason the staves are the exception to the Fov rule.
Exception. You're just thinking too hard.
Been playing with an augmented Aquilo's since augmenting 51+ items is possible, I would have noticed straight away if my damage would have dropped lol. We're talking about 15 percent there, that's a lot knowing I can even notice when my food isn't on (which is only a 7INT delta). I'm not even mention the accuracy loss also. Fairy.Tedwardian

the real test is avatar perpetuation cost, those numbers aren't subject to change by any variables. does that sound right?
Don't worry, it's been tested, hundreds, if not thousands of people have augmented their elemental staves, both HQ and NQ, if the hidden effects were removed, we'd know about it by now.
Did I miss when they said things with a hidden effect cannot get augmented? I know hidden effects are not in effect during level sync, but I don't remember seeing that items with hidden effects cannot be augmented.

It says it here Midgardsormr.Avin said: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Field_Parchment It says it here In this case, like many others, Wikipedia is wrong. People augment their elemental staves all the time and it hasn't removed the hidden effects, or denied them from augmenting because of them. Garuda.Wooooodum said: Midgardsormr.Avin said: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Field_Parchment It says it here Yep. I've done FoV since it's introduction and have aug'd several light/dark staves. The hidden effects stay. I added a ton to that wiki page, but whoever added the hidden effects part clearly doesn't know what they're talking about.

My damage aren't subject to change to any variables provided I'm nuking certains monsters, so it's exactly the same in the end. Damage on puddings are consistent for exemple. Same goes for my damage in ENM or Limbus. Consistent. Really anyone would notice a 15% dmg drop and a huge magic accuracy drop. |
