Duplicate Names

Goofy issue with this account, this screen shot is actually w/o windower, any idea what's going on? This is my friends account and using my account on the same PC 2 boxing is fine, beyond the graphical glitch if I'm in full party it'll only display 5 names and <stpt> won't work. My main d/c the other day and I couldn't even give lead back to myself, addons that do stuff with party inherit this bug too.

I suspect there's something corrupt with the account files on my pc. (Best guess something in the Final Fantasy XI/USER/<hax> folder). As pulling this up on my laptop, its fine, so seems like something with a file on this PC.

TF?!? These are 2 separate, independently playable characters (separate POL ID's) on the same server with identical names?

Is this on PV?

Sometimes wonky ***just happens.

I've been able to stand next to myself more than once. some times a party member will take a phantom 7th slot and screen wrap. Sometimes they replicate.

worry if you can repeat it. Otherwise it's just a cool screenshot.

its repeatable 100% of the time on this PC. (only this account).

Kinda tempted to just delete everything and see if that fixes it, but don't want to loose the macros and what not.

I've had this happen recently. The problem reappeared every time I logged into that specific character.

It was something in the FINAL FANTASY XI/USER/charid folder. I'd just backup your macros, backup your USER folder to be safe, then delete your USER/charid folder. It will wipe your config, but should hopefully fix it.

did that, fixed the name issue and now the eqiup menu is borked up. (can't see gear...even the piece i'm wearing!) (managed to hack the macros back in too)

can see all the gear in the bag browsing and the /equip commands work.

Mmm, mixing up those files can be unpredictable... but you kept the backups right? I didn't have to deal with that myself, because I didn't need macros for a trove mule.

I was thinking more like backing up the macros to the server from the title screen (if you're comfortable with that). Then you'd do a full wipe of USER/charid. It might work.

That or you could try playing around with the files some more. If none of that works, then I'm out of ideas.

Fresh install might fix it?

So the equip menu thing got fixed after I changed the contents of wardrobe 1 (either time and/or zone based) I think I took several things out and then put 1 thing back in and noticed it was fixed after doing that. (probabably why main inv. and wardrobe 2 fixed sooner, just didn't know why)
