I did manage to get a couple Hjarrandi and Sacro bodies and enough dyn crystals to make it a worthwhile endeavor. Barely. I'm not sure I'd do this again.

i had already an impish box, so the raibow chest gave me a silver voucher; the rest was all junk, not even 1 htbf drop at all ...

I was moderately hopefully that these FES Gobbie Keys were going to be added to future season events and I would feel motivated to do them. I mean, the Curio Moogle in October, got me to do Halloween events for the first time in 15-20 years because I wanted the Ilm set.

But the current distribution for FES Gobbie Keys is just bad. Most of the items are clutter. Also, it doesn't increase replay value either (because I can't send or share Impish Boxes).

You can pipe your output to "sort | uniq -c | sort -n" and you'll get actual counts:
So 71/95 = 74.7% Impish Box drop rate.

I have a slightly larger data set, with 100/125 Impish Boxes (Exactly 80%) :(
The "earthen arrowheads" is completely baffling.

"These guys are complaining about impish boxes. give em some lvl 1 arrowheads, *** em."

Again, whats the rate of impish boxes on mains? Cause im willing to bet most of this impish box data thats diluting the poolnis from mules.


This theory may not be 100% correct, but if mains whove done content are getting 15% impish boxes and lv1/99 trove mules are hitting 80% impish box, then there is something at play.

Good idea, but unfortunately, this is not a thing. One of my characters got a sacro gorget with basically nothing:

Presumably these people with 100 mules have a good amount of main accounts who got the keys too. Even if it's 16:1, 120+95 should be 8 and 6 mains. Out of just your mains, how many were Impish boxes? It's not enough data on its own, but there's no sampling bias because you were going to report anyway. If it's less than 6-7 impish boxes(out of 14ish mains) between the two of you, it is reason to be suspicious of some sort of prize weighting/gating.

One mule getting a Sacro doesnt dispute what I said. You clearly have a decent data set, can you provide the numbers of rainbow box loot from mains whove done content and mules who havent?

We can start talking when we have at least 1000 samples. But it's just random anyway.

Normally, I'm inclined to suggest/observe/test for all kinds of fringe theories, so I included the results of characters that are only level 99, I get 66 Impish Boxes out of 87 Rainbows which is still 74.7%:

For me personally, I never complain about paying for extra $1 mules because I always get some value/utility out of them. Naturally, I was excited by the introduction of a new season-exclusive key ...but I'm annoyed at how high this Impish Box rate is. If it were flipped to be 25% instead of 75%, I've have 3x the amount of random items ...and that would be more interesting than the Impish Boxes.

...The only way, I can see this being remotely worthwhile, is if the Impish Box because an entry for a new battlefield? ...But oh well....Maybe 2026 will be better?

I seem to have done pretty badly with 38 tries. Only 6 of these have done trove, and all 6 got impish boxes.

I opened Rainbows on 2 mains and 5 mules.

On the mains (with everything unlocked and many R/E High Tier items), got 1 Impish Box and 1 Silver Voucher (obviously the replacement for an Impish Box, which this character already had).

On the 5 mules, NONE of them have access to any high tiers, none have ever done Trove. 3 of them got high tier drops (Crepuscular Pebble, Crepuscular Ring, Cath Palug Hammer), the other 2 got Impish Boxes.


IDK that the translation is false in any way. The English update notes said: "Also, for every ten treasure chests that you open, the chest will change to a rainbow color and boost your chances of getting high-tier mission battlefield and high-tier avatar battlefield spoils."

That seems true from the reports here, rate of HTBF items does seem to be significantly higher on Rainbow Boxes than it is on normal FES Keys. It's just not a big enough increase to be good enough for a lot of people. This is not a situation where we're getting an extremely high likelihood (e.g., 90%+) chance of HTBF loot, more like... idk, something in the 10%-25% range? Compared to what must be low single digits for the normal FES keys, that's still an increase. But still a higher chance of just walking away with an Impish Box.

Impish Box being the overwhelmingly common non-HTBF drop was a surprise that a lot of people dislike (and hey, I get it). On one hand, on an actual player who can access endgame content, I kinda do prefer a Peach Power pop to the high likelihood of utter garbage from the normal dial (coffer keys, single ninja tools, crappy food, whatever). But on a true mule who can't actually do the fight AND can't even send the item to a main, it kinda sucks. Honestly, if they made Impish Boxes same-account dbox sendable, then I'd be all for that as a pretty solid reward.


Yeah this is the especially annoying thing to me. I don't care about the ultra-common Shinryu/Cloud drops, but the potential of getting a really good prize of one of the rare ones was appealing to me. Haven't seen any reports of those at all from this event though, which leads me to believe either they were removed from the pool entirely, or are included at a similarly tiny rate (of obtaining them if you roll a HTBF item) as actually getting them from the associated battlefields.
