Lovely. The fall-behind mechanic is still there. Do your dailies, kids, or you don't get more tomorrow. It's important that we have a way to put players out of sync with each other to make group activities harder to coordinate.

Do your dailies. Or else. You miss 2 days instead of 1. Punishment mechanic masquerading as "helpful". As this is my first time with Vanabout can someone explain the "Do your dailies, or else"? Do your daily VBs only rotate after you complete the set you have?
VBD Rotate at JP midnight, Or Stay one additional day "so you can get it tomorrow if you missed it today"
But, if you don't do it until the second day, you miss out on the one that comes after, it'll rotate to day 3, not day 2. VB are one and done. If you finish a VB that's it. I love how that "I'm on a boat" task is still in the list. Got fishing skill 0? You're done in 5 minutes. Capped fishing skill? You'll stay for hours.
If you use the worst rod it'll help a little bit
Using a lu or ebisu with the hidden skill+ will make it worse. It should just be "fish up 20 fish on the boat between selbina and mhaura"
Eiryl: "use the worst rod it'll go slightly faster" >>Go buy Taru rod on boat >>Catch 3 Quus first cast >>Your like breaks second cast, bye bye sabiki rig Eiryl with bad advice, as usual. inb4: "well why did you take his advice?" As much as I'd like to say "its bad advice because Eiryl said it" (which is an accurate and valid statement fyi), I just look like a hater if I cant back up WHY its bad advice. You miss 2 days instead of 1. Punishment mechanic masquerading as "helpful". Um...what? How do you miss 2 days? If there are 7 dailies per day and 14 days of the event, there are 98 possible dailies. If you miss 2 of them on a single day, you can complete 96 dailies; it doesn't suddenly become 94. You only miss a second one if you don't do that quest a SECOND time on the second day. I guess you could call this being punished if for some reason you refuse to do a mission for multiple days. There are very few, if any, VBD that can't be done by anyone who bothers to put in a little effort so it rings quite hollow to me to say you "miss 2 days." You miss 2 days if you...miss a daily on two days...yeah... Bahamut.Bojack said: » As this is my first time with Vanabout can someone explain the "Do your dailies, or else"? Do your daily VBs only rotate after you complete the set you have? Missions you don't complete, stay behind and you get one more day to do them. If you don't do them the second time, then they disappear and are replaced. For example: Day 1: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; you do all of them but 7 Day 2: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 7; you do all of them but 7 Day 3: 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20; you do all of them Day 4: 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 Another example: Day 1: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; you do nothing Day 2: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; you do nothing Day 3: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 This goes on basically forever, except eventually it loops around (every few days) so there aren't literally 98 unique quests. Every day you don't do a VBD you lose one VBD. If you don't do the same daily twice you lose a VBD twice, because you didn't do a daily twice. 1 > 1 > 3
You missed 1 and 2, missed 2 days, it's not complex. If you skip Objective 1 today, then skip it tomorrow too (if you didnt want to do it yesterday, you probably don't want to do it today either), it goes to objective 3, not 2. My char cannot do pet your mog garden monster. so I lose 2 dailies every time it comes up. That is a punishment for not doing gardens, not a "second chance". Now, if you could manually X it out, it'd be reasonable. Thats because you skipped it twice my word, it doesnt automatically become 3.
If I skip Meebles because Im busy, I can still do it the next day. It's actually beyond me why anyone would want to do this. The rewards are awful for the effort required.

Craft 2 items HQ, turn in a single cluster, do any ambu once, do 5 WS or 3 heals in an ambu, place a sheep meat on a fire, chocobo dig for 10 items. Holy smokes, the level of effort is insane. How could they possibly expect mere mortals to do this stuff? I would be genuinely impressed if someone managed to make any vanabout objective take longer than 10 minutes start to finish. Some of them take less than 30 seconds. Any tips for someone who's never fished before doing the "I'm on a Boat" quest? Like, what rods/bait should I be using?
I tried googling it and apparently its the same name as a quest from Adoulin so all I could find was that lol https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Bastore_Sardine?so=search
Use a sabiki rig on any random ah fishing pole (not singlehook) Did Lu Shang/sabiki, my fishing skill is outstanding (11) had about 3 min left, 3 monsters, some quus and something else. So maybe bad luck on your side?

There are a lot of dailies that are impossible (monster rearing, if you haven't done mog garden), unreasonable (those are my beastmen's seals, you can pry them out of my cold dead hands), just miserable (chocobo digging), or really nasty to do low-man (the level 60 fights.) If you're committed to trying to actually enjoy your experience and not just force yourself through every objective on the quest for more points, any of those can be a "nope, not doing it" or a "wow, I can't do this" that doesn't just magically become super okay the next day. This is something that could be fixed so easily by just giving us a button to say "I'm not doing that" that would set the objective to completed without paying out any rewards. That's all it takes. Instead though... nope, one objective can erase a slot for two days. The ability to cancel them manually, would be a significant upgrade
It's assumed if you miss one it's because you didn't have time to do it and want a second chance, that is often inaccurate. ruckusMonster said: » Any tips for someone who's never fished before doing the "I'm on a Boat" quest? Most of which you didn't really want to do, but all of which is more rewarding than Vana'doubt. All things considered, it's not worth the time. I was gonna say that, but honestly I think people just like bitchin while doing it.

I wasn't here bitching, I just supported the point I've made from day one. Please see the original thread if you need receipts. VanaBout 1 (you know, "day one") and VanaBout 2/3/4 are very different beasts in terms of respect of peoples time and the rewards offered.
Seun said: » not worth the time The first couple of times, I really really wanted to push, get all those rewards.
I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather just do ZNM for that scoria, this time it's just get the 250 points and get out. I figure ballista, lost chocobo, and fishing covers most of it, just need to get an extra 40 points in per character and it's a nice smooth stroll to the finish. Thing is, I hate feeling that way. I want to like Vana'bout, but it just keeps being "less worse" instead of "better." You can also just do the easy ones. It's tailor-made for exactly this kind of gameplay style. If you only want to do objectives that take 10 seconds, just do those. If you don't want to spend beastmen's seals, don't do those. If you are solo and have no friends, skip those.
The only time any of this "I lose two days' worth of points" ***matters is If you're going for max points. You can easily get any tier of rewards while liberally skipping tons of dailies, including entire days' worth of objectives. I'm not saying it couldn't be improved, I'm sure it's a good idea to allow refusal or resetting of objectives, but rather pointing out that these problems don't really affect you unless you're hardcore, ruckusMonster said: » Any tips for someone who's never fished before doing the "I'm on a Boat" quest? Like, what rods/bait should I be using? You can use a Yew Rod (or any low level rod) plus a Skabi Rig to get Sardines on the boat. What most people are not telling you is if you get a "You have a bad / terrible feeling about this" message then instead of trying to reel in your catch, hit Cancel / Esc because you are guaranteed to break your rod or lose your bait. Only reel in the "Good feeling" messages as they will be Sardines at low skill. You can catch 1~3 of them per catch with the rig. Chocobo Digging isn't that bad, the campaign that removes all your dig delay at zero digging experience is active. takes maybe five minutes and 30 greens in a starter zone.
