I hate how you get punished for not doing a objective by having it remain the next day
Well, the part where they claim it's to help you, instead of obviously punish you, is the horseshit part. It's a punishment no matter how you slice it.

I can at least pretend the punishment is fair so you have to try hard for your title. But while being able to rationalize it, it's still trashy.

If I didn't want to do merc camp today, I still don't want to do it tomorrow.

Living up to the title, this will be the least worst iteration yet!

Quote:
■ Vana'Bout - Round 7
Add the ability to cancel the daily objective

The part that matters, however, is what happens when you cancel. Will it immediately reroll (absolutely not) or will it simply black it out so it rolls tomorrow instead of staying up 2 whole days. That's what you should expect.

SO! The punishment for not doing (or not being able to do) an objective is FINALLY no longer a punishment. 2 years later. 6 iterations worth of feedback.

New rewards will be added for both the overall rewards and personal rewards (Silver tier).
Silver was already the only tier worth getting, talk about missing the mark. Oh well, something to be slightly less worse for round 9 or 10.

New champion for the Silver Tier; A whole *** set of af+3, that's a killer grab for anyone new enough to care about bout.

And Cornyface comin back

Unfortunately, the gold tier is still asscheecks, especially now that you can get 16 old case +1 just for logging in.

Doubly unfortunate, the *** in their infinite wisdom are running this during the absolute best possible ambuscade month. And the congestion will be, regoddamndiculous.

I was expecting time extensions for Cornelia in the 125% and 150% rate upgrades, but appearently this time around we're getting Cornelia for "only" 3 months, correct?

As it currently looks, that's correct. Only 3 months and no extension.

The extension states it only applies to the campaigns and not the face

Where does it say it’s a whole set of af+3 and not just 1 piece?

For the record, this is one instance where I am in complete agreement with Eiyrl. Vanabout is the most offensive content release that they've ever done imo. The sheer disrespect of our time is staggering. I will not do it, even though the rewards are actually quite good.

Edit: I'll also add that the shutdown of certain servers comes directly from vanabout, and a subsequent misunderstanding by SE of why ambuscade was having exorbitantly high queue times.

A whole *** set of AF+3 is in theory, quite impressive. For silver. That's like 2 days of bout. It's a shame that no set of 5/5 is good, and that if the set was good, you'd likely already have the pieces you want if your account is more than six months old.

5/5 AF+3 is worth right around 30 mil, for an hour a day for 2 days, that's fair

The problem is still the gold tier, and the exemplar "bonus"

....and the fact that the ambuscade line becomes an hour long on servers that matter.

Bout is in fact, slightly less worse than last time!

For what it's worth, they said the server lockdowns were because of backend stability, not queue times.

ITT: People making things up

"VanBout causes Ambu congestion"
VanaBout hasnt caused massive Ambu congestion other than that first attempt where every goal was Ambu based and they required spending 30 minutes in each fight to MAYBE clear all the goals. I play on a small server just like you do, there hasnt been any Ambu congestion due to VanaBout. And no, "I had to wait two minutes before my instance was ready" isnt congestion.

"VanaBout caused server shutdowns"
I'm presuming this meant lockdowns, because there havent been any server shutdowns. Anyways, heres the timeline of VanaBout's and server lockdowns:
July 2025: Asura Closed, VanaBout Round 6
October 2025: Bahamut Closed
November 2025: VanaBout Round 7

Asura lockdown and all the RMT making Bahamut their new hub caused Bahamut to go on lockdown, not VanaBout.

The month they announced the Asura closure, ambuscade was basically unenterable because there was an objective where you had to take 75k damage in ambuscade. That was when they announced the lockdown to address "congestion".

Yes, I was referring to the fact that Asura, and now Bahamut are closed for new characters.

Edit: and yes, smaller servers aren't hit as hard when they do stupid things like that, it's totally a big server problem.

People on overpopulated servers made a conscious choice to play on the overpopulated server because they wanted the benefits of being on the overpopulated server and signed off on accepting the detriments of being on an overpopulated server.

Also if people were stupid enough to make sure they finish the take 75k damage objective on day 1, whos fault is that?

That's a fine argument. It's moot though, because it only focuses on the negative aspects of a highly populated server. There are at least as many positive aspects to a server with a high population as there are negative. If there weren't, people wouldn't gravitate towards them at all.

When the developer makes content that shows that they don't understand the potential impact that said development can have on a server, and then doubles down with a solution that doesn't address the problem that they themselves created (over and over again), and shows that they don't understand what the actual problem is, it's a very big problem.

We can see this with SE making VR fights that use the queue for entry into Omen, and vanabout's generally bad design. It's great that small servers don't have issues, that only means that SE has no grasp on how non-scalable the game is.

People who play on larger servers understand that there are queue issues. It's a generally accepted opportunity cost of being on that server. They're not blind or ignorant that they exist, but it's balanced by other "benefits" that are worth it in their mind.

To be honest, I wasn't affected by the issue itself, because I've hated vanabout from day 1, so I've avoided ambuscade anyway during the week that vanabout is around.

The problem is RMT. RMT will run their base of operations on the largest server, as that server is likely to have the most customers. SE is unable or unwilling to fix that problem.

Having said that, Odin doesnt seem to have the population growth Bahamut did after Asura closed. Could be a few reasons:
RMT dont want to burn real money doing server transfers, again, and gonna ride out Bahamut for a while since they can still leave Bahamut to sell gil / merch?
RMT arent complete idiots knowing that Odin is a JP heavy server and SE is more likely to listen to JP feedback if the RMT get too out of control?

People have been fine with both RMT and long queues on asura for years and years. Fine meaning that they didn't find either so onerous that they left for other smaller servers because they found the experience overall beneficial and not detrimental. You can say I'm making it up all you want, but they didn't lock down the server until vanabout made it impossible for anyone to get into ambuscade.

Edit: by people I mean both players and SE.

I know people who paid outgoing and return transfers to avoid server queue times. I left a mule behind to partake in the econ, but I left because I found myself spending more time waiting for content than I spend participating.

Hard to argue that SE doesn't respect players time if we don't respect it ourselves.

Personally, I think the shared content is a bigger reason for server pop limitation. Too many people in Limbus or Dyna will break things.
