“Aggro link fine”
Is it though? How often you seen anyone at:
Imps?
Gears?
Promys?
Kaznar?
People flock to the easiest fodder, which includes aggro/link behaviour.

We've come a long way from 2008... If SE wanted bots totally gone, they probably would be. Someone paying $13 a month for a year so they can see a whole screen full of ML50s from their bot is still a paying customer, and they're probably not hurting much.
They ban just enough to keep it as an ever-present possibility and stop people who care deeply about their character. I don't think that'll ever change; too much of the playerbase has gateway drugged their way into botting for them to go back now. (Not supporting this strategy, but it seems pretty clear that it is how they are operating. It's not uncommon among other online games, either.) Enable Monstrosity on all Apex and Locus mob zones...make it interesting. Give mobs moves that boot people from the zone like domain invasion if they haven't moved in 30 minutes or if they don't get knocked back by your moves. Attach minimal exemplar points rewards.
Enable social zones like Shararat Teahouse or the Marble Eatery to give passive exemplar points at a low rate. You want to exp with real people? You can fight the monstrosity NMs and it gives you an exemplar point bonus like the new vana'bout rewards is going to do since that bonus system framework will be in the game. Just want to afk all day and night, that's fine with me. It's what people clearly want since it's what they're doing right now with their monthly sub. No one needs to get banned and cheaters provide a feature for other players to enjoy and benefit from. This won't happen because SE could lose all those EP bot farming subs. Huh I didn't realize gears were so high level. I just remember them being super evasive when they were introduced. Oh... but they're apex mobs so they give less xp than locus mobs. I get it now.
But yeah, more locus camps. Maybe the mobs aren't as friendly as non-aggro/linking single bats or colibri but they're a lot of options out there that can work. CNS remains one of the best options even after the introduction of locus mobs. The mob density and numbers of total spawns ensures plenty of mobs for many groups and you can chain infinitely there with little problem. Gears just require more buffs to reach a good exp/hr.
That's good to know, I'll try and see how those camps compare.
FFXIV has no cheat detection, when they could easily add it. PVP there is a complete joke because of this. The reason for this is they know lots of people use mods and other things, and they know people would quit if they added cheat detection that also blocked those.
Similarly if they wanted to crack down on this stuff here, they would possibly ban a lot of things people like. Since the western XI community uses all kinds of addons, including spellcast and send this is not something you should probably be fixating on. There is no award from the pope for having the most pure video game, and banning all bots. It's ultimately about doing enough to discourage the majority and not too much to make everyone quit. I've played lots of mmorpgs, and XI is far less awful than most. Only because it's so old, none of the new blood want to ruin it harder.
It's a waste of their time. (wow being the exception, cause even in 200 years they'll still be playin that ***) XIV would only do better if it runs on PC and not consoles. Third party plugins build a better accessibility as well as some fun cosmetic mods. However, console users are the ones complaining about everything and demanding a solid fix from SE. Now look at what SE did with the new blacklist update. Someone created the stalking plugin which is called PlayerScope that takes an advantage of the new blacklist.
They are now talking about a weekly micro patch and an anti cheat engine. Ugh ... |
