Think someone said there were 10 adds in the dats, so I would at least that many. Definitely can call adds early on, it's not based on her health. But can only summon after using Primordial Surge > Waning Vigor. If you kill it too fast, you won't see many, but if you intentionally don't kill her you will.

One other thing - I was 2boxing earlier and on one screen an add was a taru and the other screen it was Elvaan, wtf caused that? IT was an Elvaan afaik.

Isn't Primordial Surge always at 75%?

I was going to ask if anyone had experience killing like 5+ adds prior to killing CoD
Are the number of adds that can be popped limited by difficulty?

Is there a HP % at which it will stop calling adds? It feels to me like it doesn't call adds under 10% on VE/E

If I recall from earlier in this thread, there is a maximum number of adds that can occur, scaling with difficulty.

I've only ever seen it used it at 75% unless it is using a TP move already or casting a spell which delays it.

Hi everyone, last month I approached this fight as SCH.
I used to do it consistently as MNK on E, but it never dropped the headpiece, so I adjusted my gear and did some testing.
Right away, I managed to clear it on N, and once I understood the mechanics, I did it on D, and the mask dropped on the first try (lucky me).
Now I'd like to help some friends who still need it, and I was thinking of doing it on VD.
During the first couple of tries, I'm running into a damage issue: the helix hits for 12k, so I should have reached the cap for its DoT, but despite this, I run out of time and the mob has around 5-10% HP left.
What am I missing?
Is it just about throwing another spell to do more DoT? Poison or something else?
Or is it something different?
On VD SCH/NIN, I completely buff by 29:00, and my first helix has landed at 29:00. I am using a max duration set for 292~ second helix IIs. (Just shy of 5mins) This will do just shy of 20% for 1 Helix. My Helix II's land for ~10,500, using daybreak no weatherspoon. No other damage, poison etc. After 5 cycles of this totaling around 25mins, he will be around 3-4%, and one last helix will finish him off at around the 27minute mark. So its do-able, but takes literally about 27mins, so no time to waste buffing at the start. I put up storm, klima, protect, shadows, and stoneskin - and get going.

Edit: I am also pre-popping Ebulliance etc, so that my helix II lands exactly as the previous one wears off. (I even customized the debuffed timer specifically for my Luminohelix II to show the correct duration for this)

Edit 2: If you're rushed for time at the end, you can switch to firestorm 2 and drop a fusion, bursting a T5/T4, but you will get add(s) to pop by then and that can be slightly risky. If you have the time, I just wait for the Helix to kill.

Edit 3: I even tag th4 via Hojo: Ni as it will tag without feeding any tp.

I will say its very silly to run around literally in a circle for a half hour straight - with constant focus, but thats FFXI for you lol. Still no mask yet.

Hope this helps.

thx, will try to be faster at the start of the fight

To all the players that have time issues with SCH strategy. Start the fight with 1 fusion fire 5, Pirohelix II; fusion fire 5,fire 4.
Then go with luminohelix II.
With stoneskin you get 0 dmg in both skillchains.

Question: any reason you can't do this the entire first phase before Primordial Surge? She can't summon adds before this point, and you could force her to use TP by spamming low spells (during surge), then post surge do the kite/grav/silence/stoneskin strat thing so she never gets any more TP to use moves after Surge.

What are the dangers of doing it this way (I might be missing something with the mechanics of the fight)? You're chunking a good bit of health early on in the fight where the threat is low, and just resuming the same strategy post-surge. Asking (cuz I havent tried SCH method)

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think that's a bad approach to take. I personally play it super conservatively and just kite for a few minutes longer since I know I'm not in danger of timing out (and the zone is always empty so I'm not making people wait).

I've always understood TH to only impact whether a slot appears or not. Shared drop distributing being unaffected. Honestly, this makes the most sense. Impacting distribution within slots just seems like a can of worms that doesn't make sense to open.
Has mask and 2 accessories ever been shown?

I have not seen that. I have never personally seen more than 2 drops though I have seen 1 drop only on a VD before. That is how I understand TH to work, increasing the odds on that second drop slot, which admittedly is already a very high chance with TH4.

I dont do this all fight because i'm afraid of adds and dont want to take dmg (feed tp). I also dont use silence or gravity (gravity used only if adds are up). Just run with the adouling speed movement ring.

Somewhere around there. Just did a run and it used move at 77%

E observations:
Seems she will always use Primordial Surge <80% health. Took her to 80% and turned, and all she would do is cast and swing. The moment I took her to 79%, she used Primordial Surge.

Waning Vigor is also a timed move, somewhere around 45-50 seconds (used a stopwatch to track it). Her TP doesn't matter. I usually spam WS for about 40 seconds during glowing head (WS depending on her mode), then start running. It's always at the 45-50 second mark (longer if she's stuck in a casting animation or you're too far away).

Also, this is speculative from my observations: she takes exceptional Light damage during Lightsday. Koki seemed very good to use when she was absorbing physical during Primordial Surge (Koki > Koki > Kagero > Koki). 4-step light consistently did 99k damage with only Sylvie/Dia3, but on other days I couldn't get nearly as high.

Nothing to do with Lightsday

Yes, agree it is always a set time until she uses Vigor but also with the constraint that you might need to be in range for it to be used?

You definitely need to be in range for it to use waning vigor. It will continue in that mode forever until it catches its target and attempts the move (even if it misses). Not sure of the exact range, but it's probably 10-15 yalms.

I don't think this has been mentioned, but if it hasn't, I believe it can absorb Blink with Absorb-Attri. So definitely a good reason not to use it.

In the case of all merit battles, gear only drops to the treasure pool, and direct drops are limited to chapters and stones.
