When Kylos messes with RMT, its cool and everyone loves it
When I mess with RMT, Im an *** who needs to leave Eiryl alone

Smh

Because I did it in-game without interfering with anyone else. Although, I do admit to accidentally getting a returning player killed and apologising profusely for doing so.
Now that's the real confession!

Yes, I was playing a cat and mouse game with the RMT. They pos warped there characters back to San D'Oria to escape the almighy Dvogzog, thinking that would make him go away. So, what I started doing was waiting for them to bring out characters to West Ronfaure. I'd see them appear and zone, leaving Dvogzog on its own to kill any characters they had there. They would panic and move their characters back in to San D'Oria. This went on for about half an hour.

It all stopped because I zoned just as a returning player exited in to Ronfaure, got Dvogzog's attention and died. They didn't understand what was going on, and were pretty upset at first. After raising them, I explained what was happening. They laughed it off and appreciated what I was doing. While I was talking to them, the RMT got back out to Ronfaure to carry on its usual patrol, and I asked the returnee to stay away from Dvogzog. After I finished talking to them, I went back to RMT killing for another hour.

I'd been doing this Dvogzog thing for weeks, but it wasn't long after this incident that I decided I needed to take a long break from the game. A few months later, I unsubscribed for a full year, and since returning, have not felt the need to mess with RMT. I know I was having very little impact on their operation. When I returned, it felt futile to go back, so I no longer wasted time that could be better spent having proper fun elsewhere.

My shell was doing Sky Gods back in 75 cap. We popped up on Byakko's platform, and there was a LS already up there. We just stood back and were waiting for them to do their pop, but they wiped. To not let a pop go to waste, we snagged the Byakko and I received the Haidate. Didn't wear them in public for a few days.

you just label them ABCDE in the order they were first hit

then fix everything that stays lit and move the rest one step forward (until you hit a valid configuration, obviously)
i.e. if none lit, do BCDEA next
or if A and C were lit, then they're right, so fix them at 1 and 3 and do ADCEB

this is probably going to confuse more people than it helps but my confession is that I think lamps are really, really easy and the only reason they're so bad is because the rest of nyzul is ten times easier

My dirty secret is that when CoP came out, I did the level cap zones/missions on my RDM, whose max level was the level of the capped zone and also my highest level job. The dirty secret is that I still think it was great design. If CoP had been an endgame expansion, players like me, who there were a lot of, would have been unable to participate and would have faced either grinding the heck out of XP in RotZ/CoP camps (not my fave) or not participate/quit.

Letting players that were down to grind cool their jets a bit and mixing all kinds of players with the expansion was good. I staticed with and helped a bunch of people doing CoP missions that got me into endgame when I made it to 75. It didn't matter that I was a weirdo with a max level of 50 with a ton of quests done when they needed a BLM for Snoll Tzar. My first endgame event was doing Salvage with people I met in CoP groups.

Balansu is a meme, but SE shepherded the game pretty well through ToAU. It made the bad design and neglect of the WotG era all the more apparent, unfortunately.

I keep spare parts and whole PC's and laptops in stock. DDR2 RAM, DDR3 RAM, SSD's, keyboards, mice, HDD/SSD caddies and USB cables... Whenever I put a new SSD inside of a PC, along with the OS, I'll put Vana'diel bench and the FFXI client. In the basement of my apartment building are two New York City e-waste bins. You'd be amazed what people will toss... I honestly don't know if it's an issue of people not knowing how to do upgrades or these people just don't understand the value of a dollar... I breaks my heart.

Someone tossed a 32 inch Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000. I took it into the building's laundry room, pugged it in and connected my laptop to it via HDMI. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I suspect that the only reason why it was dumped was because it had no built in streaming. It even had the remote control.

As I was working to test this TV, the buildings maintenance man saw me... I later came to find out from his brother, that he was pissed at me... I was told: If the maintenance man knew it was fully functional he would have snatched it up before I did.

Apparently the issue for a lot of people is they don't understand they need to keep hitting their lamp in the correct order each go-round. "But my lamp is already on" is something I heard quite a bit around that time.

I once pulled on Thief for my linkshell in Dynamis Buburimu. I saw one Dhalmel in front of me, so I figured it would spawn 3 more and we'd be fine. I typed "4 dhalmel" in the party chat. Next thing I know...

This wasn't the end of it. When I saw the stampede of dhalmel heading our way, I darted away from the alliance to die in a good spot. Only a few of the dhalmel aggroed the group, and I was happy to save us from a wipe.

Of course, they made sure to laugh at me afterward. I had a galka friend called Ozrox who would tease me for years over it. He'd whisper "4 Dhalmel" in my ear whenever he saw me. I can't see a dhalmel without thinking about that Galka making fun at my expense. It is horrifying.

Came back to the game in 2008 and decided to pretend to be a girl irl this time. The difference in treatment was instantly noticeable. I quickly accumulated gil and equipment at a much faster pace than my last play because people were willing to drop everything to help out a chick. I had my sister in on it, and she was willing to take RL pictures to post on LS forums to confirm my feminine identity.

I joined a Mithra only LS, and while fun, it had a handful of actual women (unless they were faking like me) in it. And they were absolutely insufferable. If it wasn't a random tantrum, it was cutesy, fartsy, catgirl speak. Now, myself being a woman, I could get away with saying things to the same gender: A lot of drama ensued just from calling ***out from a position of common sense or annoyance: Which only endeared me to the rest of the LS as the truthful abrasive ***.

Confirmed the special treatment later when the LS leader joined me on another game and my identity was revealed; They themselves confirmed I would have been kicked out long ago for the sake of chivalry if they knew I wasn't an actual woman.

Childish looking back on it, but the simping was real.

Childish looking back on it, but the simping was real.

I met a RDM once while attempting to get Jiujitsu Gi, and we became NM camping friends. He started to offer me gil or gil equivalents to camp for him. I asked him if we actually had to get the drop, because there was the possibility that I'd never get paid for my time if the drops never happened. He said after 5~ or so kills of each NM, he'd pay me without even getting the drops.

So for a couple weeks I camped Leaping Lizzy, Valkurm Emperor, Jiujitsu Gi NM, and one other NM for him.

Well, no drops ever came. But while he as AFK in party playing whatever new game, he was revealing how he had the gil/items to pay me with. He was 13 and I was 17. Year was 2007. He said that he pretended to be a girl on his Mithra mule, and there was a DRK Elvaan that would cyber him as he mostly AFK'd and occasionally made "sexy" remarks in tells. This had netted him all the elemental staves, Utsusemi Ni, Refresh, a buncha gil, and a buncha other stuff. He said the guy still hadn't caught wind, so after he paid me he was gonna go fool him again and work on that character a bit to keep it feeling real.

So after killing LL, VE, and Gi NM for hi,. about 7 times for LL, and then around 5 times for the others, he gave me his Aquilo's Staff which sold for about 1.5 mil at the time or there abouts. I immediately sold it and bought my own scroll of Utsusemi Ni for 1.4mil.

He went ballistic once he heard I sold the staff, and demanded I camp more for him, because his cyber buddy wasn't forking over as much as expected. I begrudgingly camped LL and VE a few more times because I felt bad but was torn between feeling bad and telling the kid to go shove it.

Eventually he started berating me in party chat constantly, so I did tell him to kick rocks, and stopped playing with him at all. Told him he didn't even earn his gil or gear anyway, so he was bad at the game, and needed to not be a dill weed conman.
