Looking at your post history for several years, you'd benefit from learning about ASD

Half of the people on this website are on the spectrum somewhere, you using it as a defense is pathetic.
When have I ever used it as a "defense" for anything? I don't see a new to "defend" myself on the internet to some other closet ASD people. If you're attacking me, and you are literally stalking and responding to my every post, then you might want to consider who has the issues here. By all means keep begging for my attention but your stalking is not flattering me.
Buddy, being autistic is not an excuse for being an ***.

Don't have one. However I'd like to think that I'm less of an *** than you are, given that you aren't even trying to improve yourself and relying on a disability as an excuse not to even try. Autism, while bad, can be worked on in some aspects.

No, I think you're much worse. You have a decade of posts doing nothing but an ***.

I've never said autism excuses anything. You're welcome to quote the post where you feel like I've said that.

Not him but I'd guess probably referring to:

Poor social skills are cognitive and deeply engrained. It's not about "skill".

Which, to me, reads as:

"Autism causes me to have poor social skills, it's deeply engrained, and not a 'skill' that can be improved upon"

Which could definitely be taken as using Autism as an excuse for your social skills or your behavior.

Depends on the individual reading the sentence, but this is an example.

It nowhere mentions me. You're reading she far into it because I've hurt your feelings elsewhere. How far you have to go to reach these conclusions.. I'm just educating thorny on what autism actually is. You can't CBT "your way out" of an autistic brain, or "train your skills".

I think I understood what you were trying to say a few pages ago, I haven't been involved since. I don't agree with it, but it doesn't seem likely that we're going to reach consensus on it so I don't see the point in trying to convince you otherwise.

Well I hope you understood that I'm talking about general points of assessment for clinical diagnosis and not my personal issues.

I'm autistic, I'm also an ***. Sometimes I'm being an ***, sometimes I'm unintentionally coming across as rude or inconsiderate. Assuming both are the former is not correct, I've also never "excused" either.

ASD is not a mental illness. Illnesses can be cured. You can medicate and CBT anxiety and depression away. You cannot rewire your brain through CBT or medication. If you are ASD you will always be awkward, always misunderstood things, always miscommunicate, always fail to read nonverbal social cues, etc.

I excuse nothing, and despite the handful of desperate haters trying to ***on me in this thread for hurting their feelings elsewhere, I'm very proud of myself. Mental illnesses and pure disabilities have zero benefits. The thing with ASD is there are benefits, like being obsessed with niche areas that you develop expertise in. Just this week I've had two conspiracies reach out to me to offer to pay me to train their design teams and the CEO of a top service in my field reach out to collaborate. I wouldn't be in this position if I wasn't autistic and gone down the tunnels I have. Nor would Elon Musk if he wasn't.

Ummm. Nope.

Talk to anyone with depression. Ask them when they were cured and about how they don't have depression anymore. Then watch them laugh in your face.

Repeat this for as many mental illnesses as you want. Anxiety, BPD, schizophrenia, pick anything you want. Try to find an example of someone who was diagnosed with these disorders and then took some medication and now no longer has a disorder, for the rest of their life.

If you find someone, I've got a bridge to sell you.

No "mental illness" can be cured.

Being depressed and suffering depressive disorder are two different things. You can be clinically depressed with deep incurable chemical imbalance in the brain.

I was talking about the former and not the latter.

Keep trying though, keep changing the context of what I'm saying, you might get something eventually.

I think the reason why people don't agree with it because of your choice of words.

I bet no one here believe that ASD will magically go away if you train social skills. They only said social problems may be improved with work. Then you insisted that leads to anxiety or burn out which isn't documented in related articles when I searched for it.

Here are some examples introducing social skills training for autism:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7670840/#:~:text=Social%20skills%20training%20(SST)%20for,%2C%20avatars%2C%20and%20therapeutic%20robots.

https://www.autismspeaks.org/social-skills-and-autism
https://www.autismspeaks.org/tool-kit-excerpt/autism-and-social-skills-development

Quote:
Programs aiming to improve social skills

Note that none of these articles tell people ASD will "always" miscommunicate, nor they say training will remove miscommunication. They only said training may help or improve social problems.

Also none of these kind of article mentioned social skill training leads to anxiety. I am not disregarding the possibility that it may happen to some people, but I need more information before I can determine if this is universal fact that always happen.

So when you try to educate people like it's 100% this way despite other autism articles worded the whole thing differently, of course people wouldn't agree immediately.

Ok sure, I'll just grant you every word in this quote.

Which one of these two things would you consider closer to the word "depression"?

In my opinion, depression is the disorder, not the temporary feeling of being depressed.

Now let's go back to your quote and try this again.

So... you can medicate depression away?

Idk, it's apples and oranges. You're talking about medicating away non-disorders in neurotypical people and comparing that to autism for... some reason?

I'm not interested in semantic debates on the internet with random people on a 22 year old Japanese mmo. Go harass someone else, you've bored me I'm sorry to say.

Well yeah, you are the one who tried to educate people about autism here(a topic that I find it mostly irrelevant in my life, I admit), multiple times in this thread even. And yet multiple readers here didn't take your points seriously nor agree with it.

Maybe the responsibility of searching shouldn't be on the reader to begin with, lol.

Also, Afania, you may not consider yourself to be autistic, but if you think you're neurotypical: you're not.
