New games suck... or is it just me?
500k sales in the first week is great for Dragon Age. I'm sure EA will take that all day.
Stellar blade did 1 mil in the first day on one platform.
https://icon-era.com/threads/report-stellar-blade-already-sold-1-million-copies-in-the-first-24-hours.11538/ Wukong did 10 million in 3 days on two platforms https://www.ign.com/articles/black-myth-wukong-sells-an-incredible-10-million-copies-in-just-3-days Erdtree DLC did 5 million in the first 3 days https://gamerant.com/elden-ring-dlc-is-already-a-massive-success/ Dragons dogma 2 did a paltry 70k first week, but four days later that jumped to 2.5 million. Not sure what took place end of march for such a result. https://www.ign.com/articles/dragons-dogma-2-sales-hit-25-million-11-days-after-launch 500k over 3 platforms isnt great lol Offline

Carbuncle.Nynja said: » Early reports are looking at ~500k sales of Veilguard after the first week. Those are unofficial reports This number doesn't seem right..... Steam sales:review ratio generally float between 30-50 for newly released games. So steam sales would be 480,000-800,000 with 16k reviews. Add sales from other platforms it should be pretty damn close to 1m at least, if they don't already surpassed it. If DAV really sold 500k all platforms combined with 16k steam reviews, then this game has a very extreme sales:review ratio that it has become an outlier in sales estimate model. But why would anybody uses outlier in their own sales estimate without any evidence to support this is happening? Seems biased to me. Like I said in another post, I think DAV would probably reach 1m+ soon, if they haven't then a sale should push past that number. This game doesn't have launch sale, so I bet there are people waiting for a sale because large amount of steam users are "no sale, no buy" people. Even a 10%-15% sale would increase people's interest to purchase. Edit: Metaphor ReFantazio also had same peak concurrent players as DAV, and only 8-9k steam review which is way lower than DAV. But they broke 1m on the first day. I understand Metaphor ReFantazio probably has more console players but it's still kinda ridiculous to "estimate" DAV's sales like this. Why does this seem so outlandish? After all the flops so far from the “games for a modern audience”, they need a win, badly. Dont believe me? Look no further than Viciouss hyping up the “Bioware breaking personal steam records” ignorant to the fact bioware hasnt released on steam in over a decade and the personal records were about player counts, after repeating over and over how player counts dont matter that much. Does it seem so unreasonable to believe these people would go out of their way to leave a positive review? You can go look at the steam reviews yourself. I saw a few that were literally equivalent to “+1”, and plenty of positive reviews with mixed comments. I think one dudes review was like “7/10 by any other title, but its a 4/10 dragon age game”. As far as the source of the info, they “know a guy”. Usually a *** out statement, but “i know a guy” has been pretty accurate so far, so Im inclined to believe they might actually know a guy who has reputable information. Offline

Usually difficult to pin down sales numbers to begin with due to digital sales on multiple platforms, and you end up relying on what the company/devs say or dont say. In DAV's case i dont think there was too much celebration from BW, could be mistaken, but they did very quickly say no DLC and they're shifting completely to ME, which is odd given past games, origins/DA2 got loads of dlc, inq got 6 packs for single player

I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that DAV has higher number of reviews than other games either. Because it's a game that gets itself involved in politics and politics always gets more political fanatics eager to leave their political opinions in the review section. That being said, I wouldn't make such assumption like it's 100% fact until confirmed either, lol. tl;Dr: let's wait more patiently until the results are announced..... As far as political review goes, a large number of early negative are basically contents like: "we must defeat woke" "LGBTQ is disgusting" "die woke die" kind of ***. How is that any better lol. People giving out a positive to "7/10 if not dragon age game" is far more fair to me as a review reader. I have no aversion to woke nor any other political content. I have no emotional attachment to dragon age IP nor I care about DA's design direction. Saying DAV is a 7/10 game to people like me is more useful than saying "woke bad" in reviews imo. It's lame that us non-politcal review readers now have to filter out political content harder than before. Those “die woke die” negative reviews get removed, the “+1” positive reviews get kept.
Anyways, if you want to outright refuse the 500k because the sales:review ratio doesnt add up, thats fine. Im only about 80% on board with it because its an anonymous source, one whos been reliable thus far, but still anonymous. Perhaps you could consider Narionts point regarding DLC and how Bioware has almost completely closed the book on DAV to work on ME5 (skeleton crew on DAV for any necessary patches)? They went from multiple DLC ok the last two DA titles to outright nixing any ideas of dlc for DVA 5 days after release. There is no reason to believe your anonymous source has any numbers on consoles a week after release. So if he is saying 500k, its PC only. Which again, for Dragon Age and EA, is a solid number.
The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa. It flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The Nile is the longest river in Africa. It has historically been considered the longest river in the world, though this has been contested by research suggesting that the Amazon River is slightly longer.
Lake Titicaca (/tɪtɪˈkɑːkə/;[4] Spanish: Lago Titicaca [ˈlaɣo titiˈkaka]; Quechua: Titiqaqa Qucha) is a large freshwater lake in the Andes mountains on the border of Bolivia and Peru. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world. Titicaca is the second largest lake in South America, both in terms of the volume of water and surface area.[5][6][7][a] It has a surface elevation of 3,812 m (12,507 ft).[8][9]
Djibouti,[a] officially the Republic of Djibouti, is a country in the Horn of Africa, bordered by Somalia[c] to the south, Ethiopia to the southwest, Eritrea in the north, and the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to the east. The country has an area of 23,200 km2 (8,958 sq mi).
No derailing, please.
We came here for the conflict, not information. If I wanted information, I would have read a book! The most excruciating agony, is yearning for the futurity to which the totality of your Being belongs, not an aspired desirability, but a yearning homesickness, yet be simultaneously cognitive of that encompassing home in which your spirit is inseparably attached to, and indistinguishable as a singular entity, being rather a subsidiary constituent, is beyond your attainable accessibility.

You don't have the numbers, you haven't even posted the source because you know its *** trash, and no one is "coping" or has ever been "coping." You wouldnt trust the source because “its another conspiracy theorist”.
All I had to do was google “veilguard 500k” and a whole slew of hits popped up referencing the source. Offline

A fake smile is exposed by the eyes. haven't logged into Nikke in a bit - Decided to try it again - grab the Redhood costume and get back into it

It started off great, but went south very quickly. The second the garage band style devs got smoked out by mainstream corporate entities... smh And society is behind the curve per usual. Example: Halo 4 was garbage. 343 Industries disrespected continuity just so they could reuse Elites as bad guys etc. Instantly a reason to not touch Halo series ever again, but not enough people cared so they kept endorsing bad game design and allowing corpos to disrespect the game's integrity. Destiny 1 - pretty dang good gameplay wise. Bones of a great storyline were also there. Super big spending on it, was in the hands of Bungie proper. Except, the corporate overlords fired their writer and scrapped the story, moving it from the game onto an online codex. Didn't give Bungie additional staff to meet the content deadlines they wanted it to have, either, but Bungie also didn't demand them cause they got a big head about it. Solution to save the game and get more money back on it? Silver Microtransactions for cosmetic items. Followed by the "Destiny 2" attempted reboot at gaining it more popularity. No lessons learned, screwed up the gameplay loop, and wound up years later reverting to how Destiny 1 was. TL;DR Corporate: Ruining Gaming since 2001(sniff sniif, smells like a merger). Offline

I asked for the source that you said was right about Concord and outlaw numbers, not veilguard. I haven't seen the source that predicted real sales of Ubisoft and Concord before Ubisoft announced it. That's why I asked. Edit: just checked. Apparently Ubisoft never announce Star wars outlaw numbers too, they only said the sales is worse than their projection. 1m sale is all speculation on the internet..... Offline

Asura.Vyre said: » Corporate: Ruining Gaming since 2001(sniff sniif, smells like a merger) Commercial Games have always been made by corporate though. So why 2001? Why not pre-2001 when commercial games were still made by companies? What about Atari shock in 1983 that happened because Atari wants game made cheaply? What about Megaman X story continuity problems, because Capcom decided to keep the series going despite the producer wants to end it? It has always been the same to me, even pre-2001. Games are art medium but it is also commercial products. So it still follows the rule of capitalism: winners stay in the market and loser disappeared. If any of these business models that you like won in the market then companies wouldn't need to use a different business model. But they won instead. That being said, without Corporate money a lot of commercial games can't be made to begin with. So I see them as merely co-existing and both needs each other. Afania said: » So why 2001?
