If you're CEO of a western company and your biggest concern is "we should make the sensitivity training internal" instead of "why are the products were putting out not selling", you are a *** shitty CEO.

No one said sensitivity reading should be on the highest priority over gameplay, that's kinda silly.

But If you ever visit left leaning websites like Kotaku or Resetera with people bashing everything that hurts their feelings (such as making black people a thief in the story, or black people getting killed). That's why sensitivity reading ended up having a demand in the market: people doing business wants to avoid this ***.

If you don't like sensitivity reading in the business, you should tell sjw stop attacking dev. That's the source of the problem.

Reflector is a "new" studio, that operates under the Bandai Namco banner. Are you gonna suggest Bandai Namco is some unknown company too?
2-There are no budget numbers I can find. However, it stands to reason that Bandai Namco expected big things from the game. Additionally, you cant cite "its a lower budget AA game" as if it means anything when the retail price of the game is also lower than the usual $80 (although not by much)
3-The game has been bundled with certain new AMD processors or video cards purchased since Aug 6, and the promotion lasts until Nov 2. I guess it doesnt help the bundle also includes Space Marine 2.

Reflector has somewhere around 140 employee. Generally AAA games should cost more. Something like 300-600 dev, 4-6 years of dev and 200m+ budget.

Unknown 9 doesn't look like it has this kind of budget. The quality of cutscenes animation and combat from the video doesn't suggest this kind of budget.

(Inb4 "but Wukong also has 140 dev only", they are Chinese, so no work life balance in Chinese tech industry :D)

The publisher doesn't matter. Having a well known publisher doesn't mean the budget will be high. SE has plenty of 60-65 metacritic games published in the past, made by external studios with very little budget. Publisher size means nothing to the quality.

Reflector is literally OWNED by Bandai Namco, they purchased the studio in 2020.

Thats like saying “CBU3 isnt Square Enix” or “firewalk isnt sony”.

CBU3 is Square enix's internal department, firewalk is an external studio of Sony. They are not the same structure wise.

(SE's internal department often made way better games than external studios btw)

Owning an external studio only means they have shares and maybe put money in it. Like Tencent owning Riot etc. It doesn't automatically makes a game good.

DQ Creator saying its happening and why its happening.

They're literally catering to the 1% (most of which who dont even consume the product of were considering playerbase numbers of other games they so loudly support and back) to give them what they want and the other 99% reject it and then they wonder why sales are down and blame the far-right chuds.

Why do people keep believing Japanese people are incapable of being LGBTQ friendly at all >....>

https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Gender/Japan-launches-G-7-focus-group-for-LGBTQ-rights-ahead-of-summit

There are plenty news about LGBTQ right movement in Japan, you can also find many Gay bars in Tokyo.

Sure, Japan may not be as left as California but putting minor LGBTQ elements in the game is not THAT left using western standard these days.

Even Sailor moon in the early 90s had tons of LGBTQ elements, before English world even accept these things in "children's show". I would say Japanese society is way more open minded than many people give credit for.

Larian director of publishing Michael Douse, never one to be shy about speaking his mind, has spoken his mind about Ubisoft's decision to disband the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown development team, saying it's the result of a "broken strategy" that prioritizes subscriptions over sales.
...
"If the statement 'gamers should get used to not owning their games' is true because of a specific release strategy (sub above sales), then the statement 'developers must get used to not having jobs if they make a critically acclaimed game' (platform strategy above title sales) is also true, and that just isn’t sensible—even from a business perspective," Douse wrote.

Due to Call of Duty Black Ops 6's always online requirement you can get disconnected from the Singleplayer Campaign!

And I'm supposed to believe this is a good thing, right?

Single player games should not require you to sign in anywhere nor should they have a requirement to be online. Yes, CoD is a game that has an online element, and obviously you must be online to play the multiplayer online element, but the single player campaign should not require this. And it is absolutely *** that you can be yeeted from your SINGLE PLAYER game for not being online.

- It's a ***game
- It's bugged as hell
- It's too woke
- Very linear
- Your choices don't matter

New games suck for a few reasons, but my main complaint:

-Games are no longer 100% complete on release. Companies expect you to pay extra for a season pass/DLC. Total cost for a new game: $100 for all content.

To make matters worse, most day 1 buyers are basically unpaid beta testers.

Some of the games made during COVID were kinda bad. I felt a lot of regret buying Dying Light 2 on release. You can tell it was made in a work from home environment. I would have much rather waited for a better product versus meeting deadlines.

Many houses/dungeons are basically copy pasta.

While they patched a lot of the jank out, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Also Square Enix completely *** Deus Ex/Eidos Montreal, but that is another story.

I will rarely buy a new release at full price. I'm patient enough to wait for a steam or humble sale.

Rant over, sorry.

There are many amazing games, you just have to spend less time reading political posts on X and spend more time browsing Steam widget.....

I mean in 2024 there should be 16k-17k new games released on steam. Even if only 0.1% of them are good games that's already 16-17 games to play.

If you are just going to spend time bashing those unknown 5/10 games that nobody cares for political reasons(I legitimately never heard of Concord, Dustbron nor Unknown 9 until people post politics about it), of course you'll miss all the good games that political people don't talk about.

I am already 35 hr in a new roguelike game I bought on steam released 4 months ago, I am totally addicted. And my backlog is getting closer to 40 now. There are many more good ones during Steam next fest.

No one cares about a shitty 5 hour game made on RPGMaker that sells on Steam for $1.49 CAD. You say theres "so many great games", yet you havent named any?

Concord was supposed to be Sony's big hero shooter, it literally had a 200 million dollar budget, and by some accounts, that number is actually double that, at 400 million. The only way you didnt "hear about it" is if you stay far away from shooters and anything Sony.

There should be a reason why s many companies are so hit or miss on release of games while Nintendo for example consistently deliver games with fair margin of success.

You never heard that Xenoblade fluked. That Zelda fluked. That Mario fluked. Even the latest Mario, that sounded so simplistic, was quite praised.

In the end, its not rocket science to publish good games. People just need to learn with whos successful instead of insisting on questionable choices
