FFXI is dying.

Just let it depart peacefully.

Just keep the good memories of its life, and nvm the current decaying, putrid and stinking remescents of its body

That article has a pretty solid lay out, great use of the games promotional art, concept art and screen shots. Thanks for sharing it

Thank you for sharing this. I'm a relatively new player (started in 2022) and I really like hearing stories about how the game was.

I never gave this game a second's thought till I saw some people covering it. I got curious, tried it out, and discovered a hidden master piece.

When WoW came out, it started dying.
Its slow, but is inevitable.

The question is what they will do with it, as FFXI is a numbered.

Like every other game in current age, the game can undertake a remaster/remake process.

Thanks for sharing this. Started FFXI in 2004 and it remains a second home. Setting up weekly events for my linkshell crew still feels like an adventure.

i'll never understand what "it's a numbered FF" even means to you people.

SE does care, haven't you seen the countless attempts to bring older FF games to current gen in various forms. They've shown they care, especially when XIV completely failed and instead of abandoning it like they should, they siphoned funds from everywhere (most notably ffxi) to salvage it. They have shown to care about numbered FF games countless times. That's why it's important, Your post is kinda dumb honestly, just any way to jab people discussing XI that you can think of.

Everyone seems to be alive based on a quick look at the first games wiki page (at least for the creative roles didnt look at the others). The programmer looks to be the only one who is retired. the director, designers, artist, writer and composer are all still active.

(people do not simply drop dead when they turn 60+)
