Agree with Atrox and I think the majority of the community will feel the same.

That said, it really does depend on your target, buff levels, which WS you'll be primarily using, whether or not you are making SC, and various other factors.

Pretty sure if looking at actual DPS, and defense down is already being applied, Aram would beat out Shining One, Gungnir, Hebo's, and Geirrothr. Still makes no sense to buy one with the cost being so much higher than mercing a Trishula, though.

Don't think it will beat shinning one in dps, as much as I hate that spear. Might beat gungnir but id still take it over Aram for the utility. The other ones don't belong on the list imo (helos and geirrothr).

I wouldn't view Aram as a DPS polearm, it's a Subtle Blow polearm that also happens to do some damage.

Half a page and ain't no one told yall you spellin Naegling wrong

The Prime, not included in OP (The tryhard)
Then the Aeonic (the midcore)
Then the Shining One (the I want to play dragoon but not like do anything annoying, minimum)

The rest are wasted money time and effort (aside from the subtle blow aram if that's a need)

I support this ranking with caveat:

1. Gae Buide
2a. Shining
2d. Trishula solo DD spamming Stardiver and buffed to the teeth
3. Trishula in any other situation
4. Everything else

Ryu will beat trishula in a zerg if you have good gletis augs and frailty up. Trishula will win minus any of those things.

Shinning one should never beat trishula unless you gearsets are fubar.

You either haven’t done odyssey progression or haven’t played in a long time. Trishula unfortunately suffers from from the same problem as other multi hit weaponskills do right now in the meta. All the gear is old as balls. Sure some Gleti’s can be used. But only a few pieces, even with the pdl

Shining one impulse is very consistent and very high. Can stack wsd and crit damage.

Stardiver can hit high, but it sure as hell isn’t consistent.

Lmao OK, gletis comment was meant for spamming ryuohinge not trishula. Drakesbane is a crit ws that does decently with extreme pdl situations and loves crit att rate. It blows when in non pdl situations but where you can make the most of it and have am 3 up, ryuohinge can spam drakes at double or more the rate of shinning
one and be an that cherry thresholdfor the ws (which is 1k tp cause tp scaling sucks with it). My guess is you don't have a mythic or shelved it as soon as you got trishula.

Regarding Trishula, it also does good dmg In pdl situations but with significant wsd and multi att with only minor pdl swaps. The tp bonus allows you to get to 2k tp pretty fast and can also spam
ws faster then shinning one. Throw in any sc you end up making, and it start stacking up. If you mean to do sc it's significantly jump ahead of both.

I honestly don't use either. Gae buide > all for drg but when I did, shinning one fell flat compared to what I parsed with the other two. Again, sounds like maybe you weren't gearing properly for the mythic and aeonic or, you just wanted the big ws numbers and neglected overall dmg. In either case, let's agree to disagree.

Oh and my gletis and nyame are r25. If r30 makes that big of a difference and you actually have it, then I conceded that I'm missing something.

I wasn’t commenting about drakesbane at all.

Edit: can you share these ws sets that let Trishula do consistently high damage?

This.

If you can self skillchain then Trishula.

If you can't because it's group content then Shining One.

It's situational.

You can crit WS mobs with Impulse Drive for cap dmg.

I used to do that even before ML and Odyssey gear.

You can't do that on a Trishula.

Hmmm, I feel like the phrasing of the question and the intent of the answer got mismatched here. So I'm going to offer some clarification.

If you can SC at all, Trishula, even unaugmented, is going to Crush Aram[B-R25]. And if you are multistepping the gap would just get even bigger. Trishula's 4 step Umbra is really strong.

If SC are completely ignored, as if they never happened at all, Then things are... A bit more even, in a way.

If ATK is capped(perhaps unlikely solo? Depends on the content really.) then Trish(no augs) is still about 5% ahead. At R15, Trish would be roughly 15% ahead.

On the other hand, if atk is under capped, then Aram's atk via wyvern HP starts to have some weight and things flip, putting Aram about ~5% ahead. But... if you Augment Trishula, this flips again, and Trish[R15] is 5%~ ahead again.

Again, all of this is if you completely ignore skillchain potential. Otherwise there's no contest at all.

When I was messing around with Rhon it seemed to beat Ryu vs. my friend on some ambuscades.

What are the parameters for Ryu beating Rhon?

Full gleti augs in att capped situations, spamming drakesbane with am 3 up has outparsed Trishula in my experience. That's why I ranked it higher. Granted, I'll admit I do not have Rhon but I just don't see how it could match with a similar low grade ws dmg and slower tp rate.

I didn’t think of the full gleti. When I tested it with my buddy we were pre-Ody.

So thinking about it, I guess I don’t know the current meta Polearm tiers haha.

Not a DRG by trade, so my first Polearm was an Aram because it was the easiest to procure. I went Path C trying to find a good balance between a solid, high-acc weapon and a nice buff to the wyvern. My second polearm was the Shining One. The only PREMA I acquired was the Gae Buide, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of the others. At stage 4, I'm not seeing a lot of need to get any of the others, but I might for S&Gs. I'm currently in the WS trials of the Relic.
