time your last resort for engagement
AKA don't fight anything 20% of the time. As long as you can ask the enemies for a quick time out every few minutes, it's solid!

As long as you can ask the enemies for a quick time out every few minutes, it's solid! I mean, I guess if I had fictional capped hasso haste like you it wouldn't be an issue... If you're not timing your LR pop even for the attack buff, you're part of the problem. Asura.Pergatory said: » DRK/THF y'all done forgot about SATA baby. Party like it's 2003! There was none of this haste capping, delay capping nonsense back then. You got your Haste 1 and said "thank you, sir." Then proceeded to miss 3 attack rounds in a row while munching on Mithkabobs. Melee Meth from your local miserable Red Mage. And Sneak Attack Spinning Slash to close light was a real thing. Bahamut.Celebrindal said: » Cheesesteak w/ mushroom and jalapeno. Jalapeno? God you people are savages.... I could (Souleater) sub right now.
Best thread we had in ages

Good old days. I have two core memories from that era that I'll hold onto forever.
Getting Rampage at level 56, and being invited to a Lesser Colibri party by Japanese players, and ending the party at level 61 with a Mighty Strikes Rampage for 1276 damage. Being 75 in Sea, fighting Jailer of Love. Using Mighty Strikes Steel Cyclone at 300% TP to deal 2254 damage, and JoL was Boosted by Fluorescence since the PLD was tanking it on the hood edge, and I pulled hate and got melee'd for like 1700+ damage and died. Come back in today's standards with today's calculations, and a level 75 DRK can SA Cross Reaper Byakko for like 7894 Offline
Bringing back memories of "Using Souleater! Need heals!" followed by a very dead drk for the umpteenth time.

That... seems kind of low to me. seeing 1k-1.5k guillotines and rampages seemed pretty normal/standard to me back then. Anyone remember what update this change was made? I'm curious to read the update notes.
It's a bunch of updates and power creep, not really one specific update
Practically everything mechanically from era was altered. Like, STR:ATT was 2005~, pdif/defense mattering was 2011~, the big ws overhaul was 2015~ They all add up. Level correction is in there somewhere. (just trying to recall from memory, I'm not going searching) "He won't recover from this!"
Weapon Bashes for 400 dmg..... "THE PAIN IS GLORIOUS!"

For example, this Guillotine set on an average generated EM, but I forced capping attack and accuracy only gets an average 932 damage. Even this might be an overestimate, I don't remember what the mods were at 75 but I used 30% STR and 50% MND here, I could go back and look at really old versions on wiki, though. ItemSet 391671 Edit: Changing to 25%/25% from 2008 wiki info gives a slightly different set that will average 907 damage. Asuran was the best WS in situations like that and could reach those numbers more easily. Lost of people forget how harsh LCF was to melee damage back then. Ragnarok.Primex
