I skipped to the last section first. It's a VERY interesting read!
The thing that always makes FFXI revenue napkin math tempting is that there just aren't that many variables. The number of servers is known. The number of months in a year is known. After that you just need the average number of accounts per server and the average cost of an account.
If the optimistic case is 10k accounts and $20/account, that's almost $40mil/yr in revenue.
If the realistic case is 5k accounts and $16/account, that's $15mil/yr in revenue.
The website's estimation of SE's costs (~$5mil/yr) is the interesting part to me. If true, that would mean that the game is running almost 100% operating margin, which would be way overperforming the rest of their MMO section (~50%) and the company as a whole (~16%).

Was never a rumor, Nexon came out and blatently said the project was scrapped. If you were believing it to be a rumor then you wre high on hopium and copium.
