lol i'd honestly prefer they do crowd funding, instead of having to be forced to have extremely low expectations for everything.

Fully expected. Just sad I wasn't pleasantly surprised by something meaningful.

I think it's a corporation, that has to keep an eye on the bottom line. both because that's what corporations do, and because if you don't, you don't get to keep the lights on.

If there was ROI from a concert, we'd have one. There isn't.

Altough if you ask me, I feel FFXI is generating way more income that the low staff on life-support suggests.
It's just that these funds aren't re-invested in FFXI but elsewhere.


This springs questions to which we will never have an answer.
Is it us players to blame, because we've always been accepting every ***they threw at us, looking for justifications for them? Is it our fault that they saw a "business" in our exploitable gullibility all these years?
Would things have been different, had we been more blatantly demanding and less forgiving?
Or would that have led to them closing the servers by now?

Are we to thank for the current state of FFXI, or to blame?
I really wonder.

Just really grinds my gears that they couldn't be bothered to have EN captions when 99% of the content is edited anyway.

If those numbers are at all accurate then it explains the way SE ha sbeen handling their management of the game. Granted based on when the dips in population began, it's their own fault

$10,000,000usd/year would be pretty bad overall in terms of SE as a company seeing XI as anything more than a pet project to keep running out of pride

More than pride though, on a brand level if one of your mainline titles suddenly is completely unplayable ever again it's a pretty large black spot on a series' history.
