March 2021 Version Update
Might be talking about the June '19 update where BLM had their Merits changed and Ancient Magic IIs learnable with a slight boost to Ancient Magics.
And I agree. The problem would require a lot of work to elemental damage in general. Unfortunately, the devs don't seem to think there's an issue, so I'm not going to get my hopes up with the all jobs update. Yeah, that was a pathetic update. The sad thing is some people actually praised S-E on the official forms after it came out and applauded them for their efforts to help put blm back in its rightful place. I'm sure the devs never actually saw that feedback since they apparently never frequent the NA forms, but still.... just the fact that some people were content with the changes is irksome. Elemental magic is in a miserable spot. But there's been enough discussion of that in the black mage forms already. No need to repeat it here. It's still pretty sad that the path C augment on this armor is just as effective in the hands of a dancer or thief then an actual blm though.....

I could be wrong, but I don't think that'll be the case. It's very clear that this is still filler content. That being said Sakpata and Gleti's are massive damage upgrades at attack caps for many WSs and many jobs. Conditional, but difference to old bis sets is huge. Fenrir.Melphina said: » There were mage buffs? Or do you mean the path C augment on this equipment? Because honestly path C is better suited to spamming magic weaponskills than it is for use as a dedicated nuking set (elemental magic desperately needs an overhaul). Maybe not all the magic weaponskills, but I can't think of anything better to wear for aeolian edge at the very least. And to be honest I'm actually considering the possibility of going that rout with mine. With 40 magic accuracy, 55 magic attack, and a sizable enough chunk of dex and INT per piece to be relevant that puts it well ahead of anything thief or dancer has available for aeolian cleaving. It's on par with red mage's aeolian options, and that's pretty strong. Of course the amount of utility an aeolian set has is lower than an all purpose hybrid set, but given the other ways to build it I think it's as viable a direction to go with the aug path as any. Plus, aeolian cleaving is one of the situations where you're most likely to get hit by a bunch of things after weaponskilling, so it's also one of the scenarios where the extra defensive sets are more likely to come in handy post weaponskill use. I don't think path c has sense for magic WS, where path b should be better or break even outside of macc, but also work as defensive ws set and sometimes bis damage Ws set especially for self sc. True, the 40 magic accuracy and 30 MaB are already native to it. B is the better weaponskill path.

Path B all the way then for magical ws. olah said: » can you all stop slapping your *** together and say what's useful and for what job and for where? everyone is sick of the regulars here saying their oppinion. Stop whining. Stuff is our for a day. I already made and posted small analyze for few jobs. It's impossible to check everything that fast, especially that with addition of Sakpata and Gleti's everything changes at attack cap. olah said: » can you all stop slapping your *** together and say what's useful and for what job and for where? everyone is sick of the regulars here saying their oppinion. The people you're complaining about are the ones that create the information you are asking for, if they want to "slap their *** together" they are quite entitled to do so. TELL ME WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO I'M SO LOST!
Hilarious. Spreadsheet for me so I can brag about my parse damage that someone else put me up on game to.
Quote: Oh yeah I thought path C also has macc. Path B all the way then for magical ws. Path C has no magic accuracy, but it does have magic damage. If you augmented all 5 pieces to path C rank 20 you get 115 magic damage on top of the extra 125 magic attack. The comparison is the 43 wsd on path B versus 125 magic attack and 115 magic damage on path C. Path C is still going to be stronger for magic weaponskills, but it sacrifices the versatility of being able to use the pieces on physical weaponskills. Not very appealing really, but the difference is there. Magic damage is almost worthless on WSs (especially for Crocea RDM), and with the huge disparities between the WSDMG and the MAB, the rule of thumb ratio is likely going to be incorrect when comparing 5/5 sets.
I'm guessing that the best set for Magic WSs will actually be a mix of paths B and C. Empy +3 will likely be the final ilvl 119 gear we see before they start making ilvl 120+ armor.

I doubt they ever increase Ilevel now, there was a very negative reaction to the Ilevel system and they were convinced to stop doing it. They will just keep making better gear and keep them at 119. Increasing Ilevel will increase Trust levels, and decrease XP and CP amounts we get because it literally does level you up. Also increasing Ilevel creates pressure to upgrade gear on more casual players (that currently do not upgrade gear at all pretty much), which isn't there right now. Changing ilvl has zero effect on exp/cp gain.
Also, I would argue that increasing pressure on casual players to improve is a good thing. They will when they add master+ with 30 levels per category and Su7
FFXI actually has a large casual base of players. So yes.
I would be amazed if even 20-30% of the people that play this game even go near Gaol at all. Or any of the serious endgame content really. The developers know it's a minority, which is why they make it so restrictive. There are only two zones for Gaol, if everyone did it nobody could get in. It's like having 2 toilets for 3k people in an office block. There are 3k people online on Asura right now and 30 people in Lillith and Odyssey total combined. It does actually, go kill a monster in 117 gear and then kill another in 119 gear. They even con differently. THAT would be the ultimate SE move! At this point, I find it difficult to believe that they will change the ilvl on the gear unless they absolutely cannot go any further with effectively doing so with the statistics on the gear itself; it would invalidate far too much gear and having to replace that many macro pieces or find ways to reforge that many items would be a nightmare for them. I have; they con different, but exp is always based on your level being 99. Thers's a reason there isn't a "take your gear off before the mob dies" meta for CP.

Opinions on things like this are decided and debated by group consensus with examples and debate. You want the steak, but don't want to see how it gets from the field to your plate. Spoiler: It's a bloody mess. ![]() Bahamut.Inspectorgadget said: » Empy +3 will likely be the final ilvl 119 gear we see before they start making ilvl 120+ armor.
