Mastery Rank Data
Not the person you asked, but I sure as hell want an ilevel Moblin Maze Mongers after really digging into the tabula+rune system. It's Nyzul Isle level of content-generation ability and it's sad that it's totally dead except for Revitalizer spam.
Yeah, MMM was cool and weird but the rewards were never good enough to make people do it. WotG overall was a weird ode to midgame (xp spots people never used), and MMM was particularly weird because you had to have pretty beefy characters to do it for mostly sidegrade rewards (don't @ me koggle blus).
Monstrosity (not just Buburimu grinding, but visiting different zones and playing different monsters) is also really enjoyable IMO. It was _such_ a good idea to functionally add like a hundred unique jobs to the game at the low low cost of ~0 additional coding. Unfortunately, they destaffed it, pushed out the releasable stuff that was in the pipeline, and that's how we got a shitty PvM system in the final release that gave an extra 50 set points and broke balance. Subsequent updates powered up low level black magic and made the problem worse, which is why "optimal" monstrosity these days is killing stuff in Bubu over and over. Pankration was cool, but it needed to be more interactive and they more or less abandoned it shortly after release. There are some interesting quest lines in FFXI, Return to the Depths, the one that involves going to Jugner a lot (don't remember the name and not sure how to avoid spoiling it), etc. but honestly I find the quality of this game's story and quest a bit overstated by the people who still play the game. It's rare that they're willing to grapple with weighty issues, which means that plotlines top out at surprising and I hardly remember most of them. I know I wasn't MR8 when I started, but I was when I finished.
Edit: This is my first subcraft to 70, after 110 Bonecrafting. The day prior I had unlocked Maat(Trust) and Maat's Cap, in an effort to gain MR8. I just started a new character this summer that has all missions done except Bastok, the three add-on scenarios, and TVR and it is only Mastery Rank 3, so I do not believe this to be true. I will report back when I finish those. This character will also have the Golden Shovel done within the next 10 days. It would assume multiple 99s with capped skills and spells etc home points trusts guidbooks all the basic ***youd assume a real player to actually do
Not a one job mule, plus a new character wouldn't have many days accrued. I got rank 3 just from making one aeonic (and the associated missions) roughly... it was like 5 years ago. Someone mentioned earlier that they marked a bunch of RoE AF quests complete and got from Rank 7 to 8.
I can also confirm that my alt got from Rank 5 to 6 through RoE AF (page 3, the one with SCH, GEO, etc). So I feel like the logic for these Rank-ups is: MinimumTitleCount(Rank) + Any(Rank Up Qualifier) I think this is one logical explanation for how this could be designed and why there a few data points have shown many people with Rank 7 and 400/600/800/1000 RoEs completed. I can be wrong, but my suggestion would prevent someone from getting Rank X witout also doing something specific in a piece of content or something that SE just expects or wants players today. (I already suspect Medal of Altana is one of these qualifiers, but I have no proof, yet). If anyone observes another condition that gives them a Rank Up, please share! I was at rank 6 and I had ~300 RoE objectives completed. I went ahead and did a bunch of RoE to get up to ~600 and was still stuck at 6. Lastly, I went out and capped my Katana, Great Katana, and Throwing on NIN and that seemed to push me to Rank 7.
Finally starting to do some (all) sub-crafts to see if that'll put me at rank 8. People getting rank 8 for nothing these days! Nothing!
Took us months! Months, I tell you!
I just saw that there are titles for doing each of the Mog Garden Tasks (Pond Dredger ect) 1000 times. I dunno if I'll be able to stomach more daily trips to my Mog Garden.

It's just 3 years of your life! start now~ and add Maze Mongers to your daily tasks Presumably to reach 10 you'll need all those 1000 titles and every crafting shield title.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever completely finished a crafting shield (earned the title), and then thrown it away and made a second, different shield? I'm wondering is the bard NPCs remember that you have both of those titles, or if that's one where the game resets your progress and only remembers the most recent. Not that anyone would ever do that, just curious if it's even possible to earn more than one on the same character.
Would you need to throw it away?
My experience this month
I was bumped from rank 5 to 6 at the update and still at rank 6 after doing the following: -ROE's from 400 to 850. -All the AF quests for all jobs. -All ROE Notorious monsters. -Maats cap. -Synergy from 40 to 80. -Cooking to 110 with all key items (my first craft) -2 other subcrafts to 30. -30 days into raising a chocobo. -Other 2 nation missions to rank 10. -All titles from buying each tier of conquest point items from each nation. -Abyssea from 0 to 6 zones completed. Working on the last 3 now. -4 or 5 ranks up in campaign. -Bought the last 100 spells, songs, scrolls i was missing. -Skilled up all combat and magic skills to lvl 99 caps. I had to create a new account during Adoulin release when I returned to the game and since then I have pretty much cleared all content except Bumba v25, HM Aminon, and none of the master trials. My thoughts are that I am stuck at rank 6 because of all the pre-adoulin quests, titles, and things like monstrosity and chocobo racing/digging. Looking forward to the monstrosity EXP campaign in December. No idea what pre-adoulin quests you may be referring to. I might have done them, might have not. I've basically only done quests with a good reward/reason to do them. Still rank 3. Only 122 days playtime though. I'm reading that as "I've done basically no quests" considering the 10k gil from the avatar fights is probably in the upper 10% of quest rewards and well...that sucks. Some quests have a unique reward (Scroll, armor, key item/map, ws etc..) the rest of them (ie most of them) have pretty lousy rewards. I can give counts or whatever might help if you're curious, but yeah the only quests I did were the repeatables for fame, avatar ones, pirates chart, things that gave valuable scrolls, etc. I didn't do nonsense for 250g and a fun cutscene.
I did do stuff that was useful then, but is useless now, like the subligar for lvl 50 bodies, walahra turban, lu Shang, etc. Not really sure what counts as a quest or what gives a title because again, I'm a pragmatic player. I've never chased titles or quest completions. Same goes for ROEs. How do you get missing Campaign Ops to show up? From searching I found a thread (from 10 years ago) that suggested spamming the highest available tier to unlock the next tier, but then I have instances like this that might be contradictory to that claim.
Edit: Well, Streetsweeper II popped after doing Streetsweeper I 5 times on 3 different characters (dunno if that means you have to do it 5 times personally or 15 times across the server), so I guess I got my answer. Still weird how Slaughterhouse has only I and IV available. Double Edit: Can confirm it's a server effort. Did Streetsweeper II 6 times on 2 characters and SS III wasn't available. Finished SS II a 6th time on my 3rd character and SS III became available for all characters. K123 said: » This is insane, I can't be arsed to chase mastery level for the one earring |
