Just going to state, for the record, that I have never watched Alex Jones. Carry on.

Bahamut.Ravael said: » Just going to state, for the record, that I have never watched Alex Jones. Carry on. Yeah that dude is not all there. I just wish everyone can just be more objective when discussing these topics because assuming anyone who doesn't agree with your world view is the extreme opposite of you on all such matters makes the discussion a moot point. This (IMO) is what social media/forums has created. In person discussions, you have to be a bit more polite because you never know when that guy across the table is about to contribute to your dental issues. Here, people feel invincible and go straight for the insults. The current issues simply to me are exacerbated by our media because our media literally are those little twinks, hiding behind their PC screens, wanting to be the tough guys they could never be in person. So, since they have the job (authority) to pen whatever their own opinion is into every story, mixed with a few facts here and there to make it appear authentic, they have control of the rhetoric and the appearance of, "this is right, anything else is wrong" since people have been conditioned to believe, "Well, it was on TV(or the internet) so...must be true!!!" Then they go right back to taking selfies with their Yorkshire terrier and feeling as if they contributed to "the cause" because they liked a tweet. volkom said: » he's a character for sure ~ especially when people take what he says out of context. I loved Goblin Slayer, like the anime version of John Wicke. i hope they make another season. Bahamut.Ravael said: » Just going to state, for the record, that I have never watched Alex Jones. Carry on. It's funny comedy, nothing more. Comedy... yeah...
Of all the words in the entire english language, comedy is easily in the last 10 in existence useful for describing alex jones. It's "comedic" how unironically sad it is. volkom said: » Bahamut.Ravael said: » Just going to state, for the record, that I have never watched Alex Jones. This is the cancel culture issue I was referencing earlier that I feel is the most dangerous aspect of the current movement we are seeing on the left in America.
Yes, sorry, it's a Fox News story, but most other sites refuse to cover these issues for fear of getting flushed down the toilet for just stating facts, such as this lady. https://www.foxnews.com/us/asu-journalism-dean-out-microaggressions-police-good-tweet So, she's being accused of "microaggressions" (on social media, of course) and having a professional opportunity revoked by students for simply stating, "some cops are good." Now, serious question, would the people who virtue signal and toss around inane terms like "microaggressions" in order to force people into unemployment for stating facts be referred to as leftist or progressives or...? Im so disappointed i missed this.
Paying billions of dollars in tax revenue to an already extraordinarily wealthy private entity to bribe them into coming to your neighborhood so they can hire people elsewhere and drive up rent so the current residents cannot afford to live in their own neighborhood isn't the answer either really.

You should have told that to NYC decades ago. Biden is also against defunding police (or lol, abolishing) so I wonder what people will vote for now!

Yeah I have already noticed that anything you say against them they will do anything and everything in their power to silence you. So much for free thought and opinions, they just want you to be a part of their hivemind or they will destroy you. Very alarming how hateful the left has shown to be. I remember posting on BG during all this and people would send me messages privately, advising I don't share my opinion because people won't accept it. It's like the majority want an echo chamber on the left to be happy. Part of that same culture that will look 10 years into the past to grab a tweet out of context to screw your life over lol. i have to wonder at what point is trump going to have to invoke the insurrection act here with seattle? Whats going on in seattle plainly fits the description of insurrection, and regardless of what the governor says at that point about it- ultimately the fed can supercede him at this juncture.
I have to surmise that hes decided to leave it alone so that people can see just how weak and ineffectual the democrats are at managing their cities? that or hes afraid the heavy handedness will hurt his re-election prospects; or both. Which i cant find fault in either of those lines of thought. I guess I missed it, what is happening in Seattle right now?
Leviathan.Draugo said: » I guess I missed it, what is happening in Seattle right now? The rioters basically chased the police out entirely, and have claimed a six block section of the city; declaring it is autonomous from seattle, and america. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitol_Hill_Autonomous_Zone They even have a list of 'demands' before it will be returned to the state. Their List of Demands said: Given the historical moment, we’ll begin with our demands pertaining to the Justice System.
We also have economic demands that must be addressed.
Related to economic demands, we also have demands pertaining to what we would formally call “Health and Human Services.”
Finally, let us now address our demands regarding the education system in the City of Seattle and State of Washington.
edited for formatting Me after having to read that list of demands

Draylo said: » Seattle has gone crazy Quote: “There are forty-seven states in the Union, and the Soviet of Washington,” Postmaster General James Farley joked in 1936. Cerberus.Hideka said: » We demand that the City of Seattle and the State Government release any prisoner currently serving time for a marijuana-related offense and expunge the related conviction. Cerberus.Hideka said: » We demand autonomy be given to the people to create localized anti-crime systems its a real shame they had to be idiots about this, because i can get behind some of their demands, but they lump ***in there that is completely unrelated or unrealistic.
Like for example: these are realistic demands for the most part Quote: We demand an end to the school-to-prison pipeline and the abolition of youth jails. Get kids out of prison, get cops out of schools. We also demand that the new youth prison being built in Seattle currently be repurposed. I absolutely agree. Youth prisons are an atrocity; however i believe greater focus should be on parenting rather than just pretending the youth prisons exist for no reason Quote: We demand that not the City government, nor the State government, but that the Federal government launch a full-scale investigation into past and current cases of police brutality in Seattle and Washington, as well as the re-opening of all closed cases reported to the Office of Police Accountability. In particular, we demand that cases particular to Seattle and Washington be reopened where no justice has been served, namely the cases of Iosia Faletogo, Damarius Butts, Isaiah Obet, Tommy Le, Shaun Fuhr, and Charleena Lyles. I agree - there should absolutely be an external avenue of seeking justice against the apparatus of the state via the federal government. Quote: We demand that the City of Seattle make the names of officers involved in police brutality a matter of public record. Anonymity should not even be a privilege in public service. Again, i completely agree. public servants should not have privacy in the dispensation of their duty. Quote: We demand that the City of Seattle and the State Government release any prisoner currently serving time for a marijuana-related offense and expunge the related conviction. Again, i agree- because pot law has been bogus since its inception. its basically prohibition 2.0, and it was flawed from its inception Quote: We demand the City of Seattle and State Government release any prisoner currently serving time just for resisting arrest if there are no other related charges, and that those convictions should also be expunged. Absolutely. you cannot resist arrest if you were never charged or placed under arrest. its a bogus way cops have tried in the past to arrest people. they'll try to cuff them, and when the person demands they know why, and the cop doesnt present a reason, they resist that illegal arrest, and use that resistance as basis for arrest. Quote: We demand the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking, but especially the abolition of both youth prisons and privately-owned, for-profit prisons. again- i agree. for profits and youth prisons are heinous. Quote: We demand that between now and the abolition of the SPD that each and every SPD officer turn on their body cameras, and that the body camera video of all Seattle police should be a matter of easily accessible public record. I agree with the camera footage being freely accesible (not the abolition part). it should be a matter of public record- and anyone should be able to access that footage provided that footage does not go into a private residence. footage inside of a private residence should only be acessible in the event that the home owner allows it. Quote: We demand that the city create an entirely separate system staffed by mental health experts to respond to 911 calls pertaining to mental health crises, and insist that all involved in such a program be put through thorough, rigorous training in conflict de-escalation. this should absoultely be a thing. these officers however, need to be armed, and empowered to use lethal force if this Mentally ill person presents a direct and present harm to another individual, including the officer. |
