FFXI remake with expansion to the far east, new jobs time mage and chemist.
Time Mage was one of my favorites from Tactics. I'd love to see this.

Nexon's deal with SE is to create a brand-new mobile game using FFXI's models and IP. Emphasis on brand-new and mobile. It's not a remake or a remaster; The end result might be fun to play, but it won't play anything like FFXI.
Imagine if they made a classic turn-based/tactics game using FFXI models, characters, and story. It kinda-sorta looks like XI, but it's not. My guess would be they're working on a freemium dungeon crawler where you meet up with friends in persistent city areas and go on "missions" to accomplish objectives in instanced copies of other areas. Everything else they make is. I really hope not but it wouldn't surprise me. A game full of microtransactions... which I'm fine with as long as they're not "pay to win." Isn't Nexon the same company that makes BE? If that's the case then yea, loads of pay out to win.
Meh, it's a flop, calling it now. Huge waste of time. Leviathan.Draugo

Caerda said: » Yeah. They make decent games but if its like FFBE/Visions format I wouldn't want it. I know people who have dropped hundreds of dollars on the event unit pulls with no luck... only to get the pull after the event with no money lol. But if it is anything like they have its time (energy) gated and horrible pull rates. You definitely don't have to pay to win on them but if you like the shiny stuff you have to dole out some cash. Idk, I found it fun for a while, then I realized that it's just a very demanding loop. Nearly every phone game is like that nowadays - FFXIR will prolly be the same - I can see it now
Trusts and REMA will be the Gatcha rolls - 24$ for a 10 pull Offline

You can buy all you want and it will, in no way, improve your game. Offline

Pay to win has become a grey area, it always gets pushed back when someones favorite game adds p2w stuff.
Cosmetic is also p2w in a multiplayer game, since a lot of the reason people do content is to look cool in new gear and buying them does away with that. Offline

Its become a gray area because microtransactions were initially "pay to win" and now whenever someone hears the term, they immediately jump on the bandwagon. Paying for aethetics are one thing. Good example are those annoying V bucks that 13 year old boys obsessed over. If people want to waste $20 on something that just makes their guy look sillier, more power to them. However, when it comes to where you're paying for things that give you advantages over others, that's where I personally (and I guarantee I'm not alone) draw the line. Games that offer superior weapons/armor, instant task completions, power-ups or instant money/resources are what turn games from "people actually trying and making the game what its meant to be" into lazy folks who reach the same tiers by doing nothing more than clicking "PAY NOW". Tbf I wonder whether they were aiming for mobile VR. This project was started back in the Google cardboard / etc. hype time.
FFXI has a few advantages of trying to bootstrap a VR world: 1) huge backlog of content with a defined release path 2) already have a low dimensional control scheme due to console 3) already on a subscription model 4) Successful MMO revamp history associated with the Final Fantasy brand 5) nostalgia points On a technical side, you are really looking at reskinning the world, implementing voice chat, and designing a VR control scheme. The first is labor that you can hire graphics designers for in any country, the second has a lot of successful examples, and the last is critical but also not that much work. Looking at the current state of VR, I don't think I would bet the company on an FFXI reskin, but /shrug. Also, thinking about it I am not sure how this would work. Current FFXI is more than a few GB (mostly graphics) and phone HDs aren't that big. Offline

I wouldn't bet the company on anything these days, but VR use has been on a steady and sharp incline since Quest was released. I agree; FFXI, at least from a graphical asset perspective, would be excellent fodder for a VR project. Idk...those screens almost look like shot for shot remakes of the game. They aren't, but that's definitely Port Windurst and Waters. They appear to be condensed a bit, but not nearly as much as I expected. Really, I thought windy would have some trees and some water and some tarus and a green/brown palette, and that's about where the similarity would end. Taking a step back, i'm still surprised that it's keeping the third person view, and not opting for the 3/4 view that mobile games like Lineage and Black Desert switched to for their ports. All of this is pretty moot though, until they can surprise me with the gameplay and maybe a Switch version, I'm not gonna get any hopes up. Offline

EVERYONE said: OMGOMG VR OMGOMG EMPY OMGOMG PC RESKIN Yeah imagine their glee as everyone runs to buy a literal reskin at top price. They must be making so much, literally changing a color lol.

I just want a race change service...
He said they've got 2 expansions planned out currently, not that he was killing the game in two expansions.
Not like the game has the anchor of PS2 limitations around its neck either.
