Corona Virus, How has it affected your area so far?
It actually wasn't, I beat the wave. I last worked on the 19th, came home thinking I might see my hours reduced or even cut to zero, so I created an account on the website, updated my payment info, filed my proof of employment dating back 5 years, and just waited to see what would happen. Sure enough, 2 days later I got a call saying we are cutting hours. Immediately filed and was approved the next day.
Tried to apply for PPP on day-one. Not looking hopeful.
Cut work hours of everyone to less than 60%. Laid off 4 more people from payroll. One of them threaten to sue since it's his last job. The guy used to have 2 jobs, one full time and our job is like a 3~4hr a day part-time. He lost his main job after the restaurant closed. Already, cut his hours to 2hr/day since we had to close early (being the last store to turn off the lights in the whole strip mall makes employees nervous). It's getting really rough for folks with minimum wages and living paychecks-to-paychecks. Offline

They will "defend vigorously"....until they settle with the plaintiff for an undisclosed amount and seal the deal with a non-disclosure agreement. It'll be cheaper to settle and they know it, they're just stalling until they find a number they can live with.

I could see him sending people to the E.R. for a broken pelvis. On the video those officers aren't just doing a simple little wrist action swat, they're going full on shoulder maxed out hip action trying for the parking lot in Fenway Park hit. I approve. Stay inside. kireek said: » Even thinking about this happening in the UK or US is hilarious to me, pikachu faces 24/7. SurprisedPikachu Bahamut.Celebrindal

SurprisedPikachu In the UK and almost every western nation we don't have the fantastic right to self defense you enjoy, we are totally reliant on the state for our protection. In the UK we can't even carry pepper spray let alone a gun or a knife. Enjoy your American privilege, while it lasts. We've argued a ton in this thread, but damn you nailed this one. I can't imagine the level of fear of having to rely on a government for protection, and the terror of just assuming they're always going to play fair. Hoping this time makes people in general want to be more self-reliant. kireek said: » At least the lawyers getting paid. Good luck with that one.

can we PLEASE stop acting like ANY of the major media outlets don't have an agenda?
Best case scenario their agenda is self-preservation by advertising dollars, which is related to circulation/viewers/clicks, which is directly tied to flashy eye-catching stories. Worst case scenario is their agenda is directly tied to power brokers and are actively working to either advance political beliefs of any side or undermine those in power. The true purpose of media and why it is deserving of such protections is long gone- we can't have The Media be a public service...then its survival is tied to those it is supposed to be critiquing. And can't have it function like standard business...because then its mission to seek truth without bias is lost because its survival is tied to the rules of business, meaning they need customers not readers. So please, stop acting like the media YOU like is some holier-than-thou entity with a heart of gold. They're all monsters, with a few good apples hiding in the bunch trying to do real work through all the garbage. See? right there coulda easily said "WH just hired a new mouthpiece who famously said in February that coronavirus won't come to the US." But we gotta charge it by saying he's a former FoxNews Correspondent. He's a dumbass no matter where he was before, and by saying that Fox News bit you shut down half of the people from actually looking at that dumbass without bias. Also, with all the praise Dr. Fauci has been getting lately, I can't wait until he becomes the latest whipping boy now that he is now stating that we are starting on a downward curve of new cases.
God help us all that the WH start giving out good, uplifting news, right? Asura.Kingnobody said: » Viciouss said: » WH just hired a Fox News correspondent to be their new mouthpiece, who famously said in February the coronavirus won't come to the US. Good luck with that one. No, you ain't. She already tried to play the "context" card and it didn't work. Nothing she has said in the last two months of her downplaying covid or attacking the Dems with her false allegations has been taken out of context. Its a stupid hire, but then again, their last mouthpiece didn't even do her job for over a year. Why even bother filling that position at this point? Quote: I think anyone would be hard pressed to say that any conservative voices here (what remains of them that is) will defend Fox News as a "holier than thou" source. But some people here has defended opinion corespondents as news sources. Do I really need to repost all of kireek's shitposts of Hannity and Ingraham videos that can be found in this thread? Or really, any of his virus denial posts pre-Rooks warning? Oh wait, he might have deleted them to try to save face. All because he isn't a Trump yes-man. Secondly, yes, she did say that the coronavirus wouldn't come to the US. She was wrong. But that doesn't mean that the context that she was talking about (remember, she was talking about the China travel ban) was wrong. Hell, even your savior Joe Biden (if he remembers to put on pants today that is) admitted that Trump did the right thing on the China travel ban. Asura.Kingnobody said: » Emphasis on the political leanings of said death threats too please. Viciouss said: » alt-right people. You are the one who inferred that these people who are giving out the threats are from the alt-right. You also fail to realize that your source inferred their opinion in a news article, trying to tie conservatives to the death threats by the incredibly unneeded commentary in the last 4 paragraphs of that report. Seriously, you could cut out those 4 paragraphs and the report would still be just as accurate. This is just more proof that you take opinions of others as fact, instead of facts themselves as fact. Like I said, its been in the news for weeks now, you are free to google more information about the death threats Fauci has received from the alt-right for not agreeing with Trump's every word.
Also, no, don't expect your conspiracy that the left will start attacking Fauci (for any reason) to come true. The only reason they are still televising Trump's pathetic "briefings" is they want the people to hear what Fauci and Birx are saying. They are the only two not lying to us about something. As often as they go on tv tho, there are ways around that. Viciouss said: » Also, no, don't expect your conspiracy that the left will start attacking Fauci (for any reason) to come true. Maybe these threats are made because of Dr. Fauci being in the news. That happens all the time by idiots who want either attention or posterity. Did you think about that, instead of placing your hopes that it's alt-right who are making these threats for political reasons? Or are you projecting your own wishes that every bad thing that happens in the world is because of people whose political leanings are right of center? Viciouss said: » he only reason they are still televising Trump's pathetic "briefings" is they want the people to hear what Fauci and Birx are saying. They are the only two not lying to us about something. As often as they go on tv tho, there are ways around that. 1) These briefings give an unfiltered source of information so people can process them without media bias interfering. 2) These briefings let people know what is going on and what the federal government is doing, and what sort of medicine is being applied, and all the important information, including any plans to restart the economy after this is over with. But it's not like you can see these briefings on your favorite networks. They hate the unfiltered news, as show for their distaste of showing facts being presented on a daily basis.
