Will WoW Classic affect FFXI playability?

As someone saying they are quitting FFXI for WoW Classic it is surprising to see you defend SE and the current state of FFXI.
The current state of FFXI is indefensible, but it's understandable given the reduced budget available to the FFXI operations team.
I'll be surprised if FFXI ends up the same way the mobile game did. The last time Square Enix decided to stop creating new content (in terms of expansions and major updates) - they were blunt and clear about it. What makes you think they won't be honest next time?
... the fact that they're never honest about anything lol. Sure they'll tell you AFTER the fact.
Lying = money. Truth = *** you I quit

I mean no company usually wants to end its cashcow. They always want to add more. To do more. To make more.
At some point... they just don't. And they "ghost".
Also, yeah, Bahamut/Storms of Fate still untapped resources. There is a plethora of things to redo/reskin/rehash/recolor/★

XI isn't exactly their cash cow anymore. They had to reduce the size of the dev team just to continue operations (and keep the game profitable). As sad as it is, XIV is their cash cow now.

The difference being they've got to keep putting effort into 14. they've got you on 11 for life already without having to do anything anymore.

Actively selling things on the AH accounts
While people may have 15 mules, most don't use them to ah things. so you don't see 16 active. and you stay active 2 months after last transaction.
Ex; while I have... 40 some odd characters only about 12 have bought/sold/are counted

They had to reduce the size of the dev team just to continue operations (and keep the game profitable). 20,000 active accounts at $20 a month average per account would be $4.8m/year, and those values are both probably lower than actual. I don't know what costs they can claim to have that touch that kind of income. I'd love to know the real costs of maintaining and running the servers - the minimum $ they'd have to make to let the game run itself without adding any more new content.
That's assuming their line of "profitability" is to be above breaking even. They probably look at FFXI not as their cash cow, but more likely it needs to keep bringing in XXX dollars to justify server space, resources and staff. If it were to merely break even, they'd likely dump it like a bad ex.

I hope classic wow is huge, and makes SE cash in on the idea of a 75 cap FFXI server.

There is roughly no chance at this. Even if WoW classic gets a full million subs for a whole year, that would only translate to like 50k FFXI subs based on the max sub count of each game. And adults don't have as much time for XI grind, so it'd likely get a smaller % of nostalgia players than WoW.

You are basically assuming that because dogs have 4 legs and fur, and so do cats, therefore people would readily just jump into cat parenting just as much as they would a dog without consideration for the differences in each animal memeabilities.
Doge can no has cheeseburgers. Cheeseburger having Cats can't wow, much, in Comic Sans MS.

Psst, no one tell him that May had a "free return campaign" going on.

If you're talking to me, which you probably are, you fail to realize that active stays active TWO MONTHS, after you stop playing. Anyone who came for the "free" login was NOT counted in MAY and WAS COUNTED in July. It's not rocket science.
May numbers reflect MARCH
and July numbers reflect MAY
July being lower than May means that the free campaign still meant dropping subs.
Database right this second is only accurate as of June 1st(ish) ((still going down, by the way.))Anyone who quit June 1st to Today could still get counted until October.
For posterity;
7/28 85,797
8/01 84,933
8/02 84,793

this is also only chars who have used AH, not chars who are active, so it stands to reason many of them could be mules or alts
i have mules who have gone a year without touching AH because i default to the same chars interacting with it and holding my gil
(not saying it isn't a downward trend, but it's imperfect data, not a source of all truth)

I can see that you don't read, so there really isn't a point to continuing lol.

2015 was large ban wave. so duh numbers were down. Literally every single person I knew was gone leading up to that screenshot.
Are people going to stay active when there's risk of ban, lolnope.
Also, right after the official announcement of the literal end of the game.
By Tarage 2019-08-01 17:48:32
Are you ever going to quit commenting on a game you actively hate, lolnope.
