I grew up playing video games just for fun, sometimes by myself and sometimes with IRL friends in the same room. I don't mind if other people genuinely enjoy speedrunning or watching speedruns, and some are pretty impressive, but I dislike the concept (same with "pro e-sports"). It generates unnecessary anxiety for something that was intended to be casual fun in your basement, and attracts a lot of the most mentally unstable people in society.
Based on your OP, you're aware of the SJW agenda they have for including as many confused and mentally ill people as possible and excluding anyone they think might hurt even one person's feelings with naughty words. This particular event series is also a pretty gross money-making scheme under the guise of "cancer fundraising." Tldr the "speedrunning community" seems to be degenerating rapidly into a cesspool of mentally ill adult children, and people who donate are suckers. If you want to donate to cancer research, there are a lot of places where a much larger % of your donation will actually end up paying for research and not the event organizer's bank account. Well, one thing that's nice... there is no protomagicalgirl... that's quite nice tbh. (at least, not running, not hosting and wasn't in the opener)
but yeah... it's not what it used to be Asura.Eiryl said: » there is no protomagicalgirl I might actually be able to watch the interviews and such without wishing I was dead Glad to see Protoboi is absent from any hosting/interviewing this time. We are spared the horror of "Protopantyshot"!
Just tuned in randomly during the Castlevania block. Nice to see them doing something different with their last game this time around. The game they just played (are currently playing) is awesome.
Mario homebrew game... legit Sonic block was hype too. even without adventure battle 2 I think this is cool, but the second response got me wondering. Did speedrunning hurt the gaming industry? Like, I guess the competitive nature of it? I don't think I'm explaining my thought process is well as I would like, but maybe someone understand my question hehe. Well, I think obviously it didn't HURT the industry, but I think it doesn't help with longevity of a product obviously?

It's been as far as I can tell flawless so far. whelp nevermind that ***, theres proto on the couch for MM10
***' ruined aaaaandddd pmg on the couch... boo
Can't escape!
That MMX relay race was great, as was MM10! Big Jon is such an awesome host. Big Jon is good, Keizaron is good. ThaRixer's Jak 3 run was good.
CovertMuffin was good FWAHAHAHAHA I wish they hadn't banned BubblesDelFuego tho. The nextnext game up is a necrodancer...
Don't really get to hear the soundtrack over the kb... am disappoint. TAS block, one of my favorites up next~
Mario Sunshine then FFIX to close the night out Last Day bump
Dark Souls, Bloodborne couple other games and closing out with Super Metroid. Event was 900% better this year thanks to cutting out... certain elements. The final donation total will surely show that as well.
2.4m total. New record. Eat ***PMG, they did fine without you Great way to end the event! That RBO run was lit!
I got a kick out of Sumi's "They have a pool" comment after she announced next AGDQ would be in Orlando! But yeah, exponentially better without PMG on the mic or stirring the drama pot. I think she said she was "taking a break" from hosting a couple months before the event. |
