Liberals: you cant possibly round up 40 million illegal immigrants
Also liberals: we can totally confiscate 300 million + guns

The guy used automatic weapons.

Those are already banned.

Banning guns totally works!

I've never understood this argument. Your guns aren't being confiscated.

Stricter background checks. Profiling, licensing. We regulate the ability to drive a car more than we do the ability to own a gun.

Banning assault rifles isn't going to do anything. It isn't that hard to get an illegal gun.
Which is why gun control laws don't work.

Law-abiding citizens wouldn't go out murdering people in the first place, and we all know how much criminals like to follow the law.

How many murders in Chicago this year happened by gun again? How's those laws working again?

Check the shooters background his records were clean. Not much you could do to sop this guy.

This is proof that you have never gone through a background check to buy a gun.

You know how long it takes to buy a gun? 72 hours, at least.

You know how long it takes to buy a car? Depending on how prepared you are, could be as little as 30 minutes, or as long as 2 hours if you need to get a loan.

Both actions take commitment to do, you have to desire owning either a gun or a car. Both require training to do and certification to purchase one. Some states even require you to show proficiency in owning a gun, even though all require you to show proficiency to driving a car.

Getting a gun is much harder to do than to get a car. Only difference is that you have to continuously register (and pay fees for) a car, while you just register the gun only once.

Not talking about this guy, just in general. Stricter gun control laws and background checks won't solve the problem but they wouldn't hurt (except the NRA's pockets.)

Every day that I'm on the road teaches me that we need to regulate the ability to drive a car a lot more than we need to regulate the people who get guns legally.

Again you can make all the laws you want. Criminals aren't going to follow them anyways. It isn't going to work. Look at the war on drugs. Is that really going to stop anyone from being a junkie ?

If you already bought a gun before, and already have your background information in the NICS, then sure, 5 minutes.

Tell me though, is there a registry for car ownership? Do I have to wait several days to get my first car? The longest I would have had to wait to get a car is to get auto insurance on the car in question, and thanks to apps, that doesn't take longer than the initial 30 minutes above.

And if you look at the stats there are more guns than people. So the majority of people don't use guns to shoot up a concert.

You're taking the car analogy a little too seriously.

Tiresome already.

Nowhere in my post did I say or even imply guns were the only catalyst for mass murder. My greater implication, if it really needs to be spelled out, was their general ease of use coupled with how many there are here contribute to the number of mass murders in a way that other weapons or weaponized instruments do not.

Sorry maybe 20 minutes. I'd rather talk about gun shows.

I'm pro guns but they should be regulated harsher.

And King, for the car analogy, I was talking about getting licensed, not buying a car.

Written test. Permit. Road test. DMV. It's an arduous process.
