Really long WaPo article on the Russian - Trump team ties:

It’s bigger than Flynn. New Russia revelations widen Trump’s credibility gap.

They cite a number of sources from the NYTimes through Fox.
Quote:
THE BIG IDEA: The credibility gap – maybe chasm is a better word at this point – keeps widening for Donald Trump and his White House.

Two days after Trump’s victory, Russia’s deputy foreign minister told a reporter in Moscow that “there were contacts” between Russian officials and the Trump campaign. “Obviously, we know most of the people from his entourage,” he said. That prompted a vigorous denial from Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks, who insisted there had been “no contact with Russian officials.”

On Jan. 11, an NBC reporter asked Trump whether members of his staff were in contact with Russian officials during the campaign. “No,” he replied.
On Jan. 15, Mike Pence was asked basically the same question on two Sunday shows. “Of course not,” he replied on Fox and CBS.
Yesterday afternoon, Sean Spicer stood by Trump’s earlier denials during the daily briefing when questioned by ABC.

Fresh reporting continues to cast doubt on these and many other claims....
This, coming from people who would consider Trump taking a dump as an act of treason.

Excuse me if I roll my eyes.

By Andrew Osborn | MOSCOW
Russia said on Wednesday it would not hand back Crimea to Ukraine or discuss the matter with foreign partners after the White House said U.S. President Donald Trump expected the annexed Black Sea peninsula to be returned.

Moscow says an overwhelming majority of Crimeans voted to become part of Russia in a 2014 referendum wanting protection from what the Kremlin cast as an illegal coup in Kiev.

Ukraine says the referendum was a sham held at gunpoint after Russian troops illegally annexed the peninsula, that Russia-friendly president Viktor Yanukovych was ousted by people power, and that Moscow should return Crimea.

"We don't give back our own territory. Crimea is territory belonging to the Russian Federation," Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, told a news briefing on Wednesday.

The 2014 annexation prompted the United States and the European Union to impose sanctions on Russia, plunging Western relations with the Kremlin to their worst level since the Cold War.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said on Tuesday that Trump expected and wanted to get along with Russia, but was expecting Moscow to hand Crimea back.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, when asked about Spicer's comments, said President Vladimir Putin had already explained why Crimeans had turned to Russia.

"The theme of returning Crimea will not be discussed ... Russia does not discuss its territorial integrity with foreign partners," Peskov told a conference call with reporters.

Trump had not raised the Crimean issue in a Jan. 28 phone call with Putin, Peskov noted, saying the Kremlin would try to make contacts with the Trump administration to try to improve ties which he said were in "a lamentable state."

Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, told MPs any talk of Crimea's status amounted to a challenge to Russia's territorial integrity.

Volodin, a close Putin ally, told the Interfax news agency Trump had promised in his election campaign to work to improve relations with Russia.

"Let's wait for some first-hand words from the U.S. president," said Volodin. "When people get elected by voters it's not merely for warm words and the ability to speak, but for concrete promises ... that will be fulfilled."

Didn't expect Putin to rebuff the powerful words of America's virile leader.

Might be because DJT was caught mirin' Trudeau. As well as others have been.

Putin doesn't like when men are mirin' other men unless they're admiring the Putin.

when you're done rolling your eyes, which of the sources are you referring to here?
....are you really blind?

Are you saying that WP isn't constantly on the attack against Trump? Or NYTs? Or CNN? Or MSNBC? Or any of the other mainstream media?

Attacking the media doesn't invalidate the accuracy of that report. Trump has been lying to us the whole time about his campaign's contact with Russia last year. We now know the Trump team was in constant contact with the Russians. This may or may not be a crime but regardless, Trump is lying. And the Congressional/FBI investigations will march on.

So, tell us Vic.

What crime did Trump commit? Even lying (while not under oath) is not a crime, Bill Clinton can attest to that.

If you consider lying a crime, then boy, you should be after Obama for his many lies!

Basically admitted that the Obama administration was correct to withhold its veto of condemning West Bank settlements. After 2 vetoes and Israel's refusal to back off, it has become a problem. Trump doesn't understand it, but at least someone in the WH does.

Maybe if Trump didn't insult the media so often, they wouldn't be so hard on him?

Just a thought. Reciprocity is real.

Well, his handling of the Russian scandal is certainly pathetic. Refusing to answer questions about Flynn in the days leading up to his resignation, even going so far as to only bring two hyper conservative reporters to a press conference and have them lob softball questions that had nothing to do with the breaking story, an act widely ridiculed by even Fox News. And the outright lying about his team's widespread contact with Russia during the campaign.

We will find out what really happened and what was said soon enough. The story is here to stay and by refusing to get in front of it, and instead fanning the flames, there is no reason for the media to stop reporting it.
