I'm not sure if you're deliberately ignoring the similarities because it benefits you or if you're really so blinded by your disdain for your ideological opponents that you don't see it. This isn't a "casual similarity that can be made with any leader."
This is a man who is whipping up furor against specific people based on religious belief and using them as a scapegoat/excuse to deny basic Constitutional rights.

Did they actually think that their side has been doing so well that they would never lose power? Did they actually think that ignoring huge demographics was a long-term solution that would guarantee success?
Prior to the election, people were saying (especially Vic and CJ) that the democrat/liberals will be in power for the next 50 years. Now, we have Republicans stating (Nausi and Altima's most recent sock) that the same thing.
We have to understand that no one ideology is going to stay in power for long, because, like it or not, they are all *** ups.

Occam's Razor would suggest that it's more likely for people to not be able to see any good in someone than it is for a person to actually have no good in them.

One has inherent conflict-of-interest issues due to his investments, the other one actually has solid evidence of conflicts-of-interest during her tenure as Secretary of State and her husband's use of the family's charitable foundation.
No matter who won, there would have been conflicts-of-interest by being President. Luckily, we have a person who (mostly) set aside his investments and given up all power over them to his family members.

2. Because everyone in the USA (on US territory) has certain constitutional rights unless the constitution explicitly states citizens (i.e. voting) or mitigated by congress (Immigration laws different levels of due process).
