I've been doing Mog bonanza since it was released back in 2004?
2 characters, both have the maximum capacity of chaacters created and never had I once won even a rank 4 or 5..
Everytime I hope to win something but Boom, nothing!

I buy 120 marbles every-time, have never won better than rank 5. If I did it would be shield all the way.

They probably still want people to actually play that content, than try to grind sparks. I still have to do the daily fishing quests if I want to get GP. But there are also those newer Fishing RoE quests which give you some GP, and I think it'd be cool if they could do that for other crafts as well if they haven't already.

did the exact same thing... i think it was like the hour after the sales ended.
How do people buy 100+ marbles and not get at least rank 4?
buying in order is hassle, rank 4 is not terribly valuable, hence many people don't bother

Hmmm Rank 4 is the only reason I even play. The only ones I skipped are the ones I didn't want anything from rank 4. If you've played this game for any length or time you should know not to trust the RNG. I mean I always hope for more than rank 4, but I'm not going to waste my time buying the stuff other wise (I really don't care about the gil, the UI is terrible, no argument here). But the guaranteed something at least gives me something for the time I spend buying the marbles.
I'll probably get the WW torque, and gil item mostly likely if I get a 2nd, possibly the Rem chapters if I don't want gil.

2004...lies! The few times I've done the bonanza rank 5's have always been sort of common. That probably changed when they added the Mog Balls as consolation prizes.
Because rank 4 in my case would be Boneworker's torque/August. Which I can both farm any time I want (I don't care about the time it takes). It's in my eyes far less valuable than winning 11 times Ranks 1/2/3. Also how in hell do I send August to my main?
I thought about doing rank 4 at the very first Bonanza but I've always felt that I'd rather win big than win something I 99,9% do not want/need. It was already annoying before because rank 1/2/3 were ***for a very long time to anyone who played this game remotely seriously, why would I bother with a rank 4 that is even worse than what those used to be.
If anything, I'd rather reactivate two more account and play 48 times the same numbers than aiming for rank 4.

Playing for Rank 4 does not decrease your odds of winning a better rank 1 iota.
I'm getting 16$ back after deleting my mules, is been 3 login months with 0 profit.

So you'd rather win 10 of something that you don't want/need. Gotcha. (playing the same number will decrease your chances of winning anything at all - not my character and I don't care if you'd rather have 10x the same prize vs. nothing you're certainly making the right choice).
That's the concept of go big or go home. You're playing Bonanza to obtain an item you could farm any time you want or to obtain items that have relatively low impact. I choose to, if I win, have 10 times of the huge impact items, creating a huge change for me in the game. But if I don't, no biggy, nothing changes.

iv gotten several rank 5s and a few 4s over the years. I used the 4s to get the combat and magic skill up earrings. (This was before books and such. And just to further it, i capped all combat and never used them >< ). And i used rank 5s to get tons of statues. Every statue i could find. Even the moogle statue! (forget if moogle was form banaza or log in). I am still missing the Airship statue tho...
Pretty much 10 winners is alot imo for dead game <.<
