Hey all - A common question we get asked is about gear progression for new returners. Having recently been through this myself (and still progressing) I thought i would put in some info. This may not make sense if you are very freshly back, but it soon will as you get the context.
A quick and rough guide, in order of what to focus on: 1st 99 job (or long time returner): i117 - Sparks gear. From RoE vendors. Then onto... Alluvion Skirmish : https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Category:Alluvion_Skirmish Yorcia = Armour Cidras/Rala = weapons i119 Armour/Weapons (good base gear, gets expensive to augment) Can be solo'd, but you get more gear (cos you clear more and quicker) in groups. Then into... Escha Regions https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Category:Escha Zi'Tah T1s for clears and beginner end game gear. Ru-Aun / Reisenjima to follow. Strongly advise finishing SoA and RoV asap. Just to give you a heads up - we have been doing some of the new RoV region Escha Zi-Tah runs to help people pick up the early end-game sets. Will continue to do this as people come back to help get people into end game! Asura.Tarquine said: » Hey all - A common question we get asked is about gear progression for new returners. If u are a white Mage, geo or cor can jump straight into reisenjima T1 and gear your other jobs. It helps to have support and ur fav dd job. Due to asura' numerous shouts supports should have no trouble finding a group Asura.Foreverj said: » Asura.Tarquine said: » Hey all - A common question we get asked is about gear progression for new returners. Due to asura' numerous shouts supports should have no trouble finding a group This was intended as a quick & rough answer to the question being asked a lot :) It is more a quick reference to those who are returning, want to just play around, find their feet and have a little path to follow. This progression is still relevant to Mages/Support, they just have the ability to skip ahead quicker if there is a well geared group that can take them on runs which don't need a well geared support; or friends/LS that are willing to carry them a little. Of course, there is always downtime between group shouts, and not everyone is confident in setting up runs, especially if they have not yet tackled the content. So for mages: Eminent set will carry a Mage in A.Skirmish. Telchine/Helios (from Skirmish) is nice for mages just getting into Escha Zi-tah; Vanya/Pyscloth is a good start for mages going on from there to progress into Reisenjima T1s, by which point people will have a better understanding in general. Edit: Definitely does help to have a support job to gear you 'Favourtite DD' job too :) Asura.Tarquine said: » Asura.Foreverj said: » Asura.Tarquine said: » Hey all - A common question we get asked is about gear progression for new returners. Just want to throw in scholars, black mages with magic burst as damage dealer is greater then melee. If someone is a melee or even a beastmaster they gonna run into trouble once they reach even T2 nosoi. If someone having trouble deciding what to be whether melee or support or magic, u can't go wrong being a magic damage dealer. Of coz with damage dealers u gonna have to go the route Tarquine pointed out. Alluvion skirmish Helios with good augments is a good place to start till merlinic. Of coz at the end play what people want to play, I'm trying to help people decide what's a better route to take to faster reach T1 reisenjima and beyond. You came here Foreverj?

I'm strictly limited to weekends at the moment, I started my new job roughly 12 months ago and was forced to take time out of the game. Bahamut.Soraishin said: » It was only a pet linkshell for like a month then came the stupid distance nerf and I moved on to being a blue Mage. I still have a bst job tho if there was a situation where that does better then a blue Mage. And lotta people quit and I didn't feel like rebuilding and I didn't feel like organizing anything Anymore so I moved here. Yea I took a break in November then came back last month, I could of sworn it was you with the Pet LS. Was meaning to ask how that was going w/ newer endgame content but yea that nerf was lame. @ konvict
I like the option to do nothing. Lol in asura I can join shouts if I have 2 hours of reserve time which I don't due to kids waking up and needing to afk. @ sora I was fine at distance nerf but I couldn't find a good bst or 2 after the nerf to make it work. Yea I notice ur absence and return when I was still in bahamut. Come to asura if u having issues grouping. There's shouts for everything, even a maju, Kirin and woc shout. @ Deij I sent u a tell a few days back but u were too busy skirmishing I guess. I can join ur shell if only just to chitchat and give people pointers. |
