Hey everybody! So with Leon's help over the last few months where he helped me really get into gundam models and building (Thank you!) I've decided to take it a step further this time, and begin working on a Gundam for the 2016 world cup. I'll more than likely be going to Otakon in August in Baltimore for the judging period, and I REALLY hope to be considered. I'll be providing a full list of what I'll be doing to my model, the main problem is coming up with a name for it...

I'll be adding more! I might also make a blog or something for it.

Are you going to be filming any of the construction? Or maybe an update log with pics? I find the process can be almost as engaging as the final product.

I plan to do regular updates whenever I get some form of significant progress made...

I thought I'd share one of my more recent models I assembled for nostalgia purposes.

I wanted him because he was dirt cheap at the hobby shop and I wanted something to put on my desk since it was severely lacking in decorations of the nerdy variety. I might purchase either the guncannon or the guntank depending on my mood.

Updating: I'm taking my time on assembling this Double X that came in finally, finding what works, and what doesn't work. Overall the suit itself looks bulky, so I'll be trying to either slim it down or make it look bulkier. All in all though I LOVE the shoulders to death, and the fact that they went with a double-slot on the back really opens up potential customizing. If I wanted, I could put Wing Zero's booster pack onto the gundam. Next post will include the guns, along with some pictures of the heads I am deciding on using for this.

Another small update before bed. I might kit bash my Double X with some parts from my V2 Assault Buster, I think it'd be a neat idea.

So I've begun working on my Double X, I'm happy it's going so smoothly. A couple of things because I'd also like to do a review on the model kit itself before I get down to the nitty gritty.

I already assembled the parts for the Double X, I just haven't put it all together yet. From what I've seen and felt, the limbs offer a good amount of articulation despite appearing so bulky, and I might focus on either making the suit look bigger or slimming it down (More than likely the latter since it'll have a melee weapon in the form of a sword.)

Overall I LOVE the backpack of the Double X, it adds a bulk to the suit that makes me feel intimidated to some extent. The boosters are mounted by a slit-style peg, which you have to be careful not to knock them out of their slots. The backpack also came with two round slots for mounting equipment, these are ideal for my ideas of mounting things like optional weapons, or even making adapters so that my rifles can be mounted on the back for when they're not in use.

T was originally going to be using the X's head because of those nasty looking whiskers the Double X sports, however after getting some ideas, I took some cutters and gently snipped as close to the face mask as I could, then took about 10 minutes to smooth out each space where the whiskers used to be, and now they look like added plates to protect the face. I like this a lot better than the original. I'll post some pictures of both styles to compare.

If you have any suggestions or comments, please I'd love to hear them!

Ok I've been fiddling with my Double X and mixing and matching parts, I'll be taking some pictures of some finished bodies and let the people interested in it vote on what the final body will look like.
