Best thing I have seen on HuffPo in a long time.

A Note About Our Coverage Of Donald Trump's 'Campaign'

Quote:
After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won't report on Trump's campaign as part of The Huffington Post's political coverage. Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section. Our reason is simple: Trump's campaign is a sideshow. We won't take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you'll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette.

I saw this. No bigger example of libs sticking their fingers in their ears / burying their head in the sand.

'We don't like trump so we're just not gonna give him coverage.'

Last I checked Hillary had a 17 point lead on Trump, feel free to cover him more so the gap can get larger.

Hey lets let Hillary keep talking, every time she opens her mouth, she plummets in polling.

I'm really not worried.

Her poll numbers are disgustingly strong, offset only by the fact that previous polls had one friggin' candidate on them.

phone polls are terribly variable right now, though, because such a narrow demographic actually have landlines and are willing to participate in polls.

It's not that Trump isn't liked (he's making the livelihood of various people much easier at the moment), it is simply that it has as about as much credibility as Flavor Flav running for president.

It's pretty hard to credit him as being a serious candidate, given his history.

But they are going to cover him.

Not under politics, under entertainment.

But here is what Mother Jones says about the HuffPo's decision. They seem to agree with you Nasui.

Here's Why the Huffington Post Is Wrong About Donald Trump

Quote:
His bid isn't a joke; it's a return on the GOP's investment in extreme politics.
Quote:
My good pals at Huffington Post have announced a momentous decision: No longer will they treat Donald Trump—a.k.a. @realDonaldTrump—as a serious political candidate and afford him coverage in its news and politics verticals. Instead, they will relegate the tirade-prone and traffic-generating tycoon to the entertainment section. I'll let them explain:
Quote:
After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won't report on Trump's campaign as part of the Huffington Post's political coverage. Trump has indeed turned an important event—a major political party selecting its presidential nominee—into a stretch Hummer-sized clown car. A Trump-dominated GOP contest does have the feel of a super-charged reality show, with political consumers (that is, the audience) on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the next Trump tweet—Trweet™—blasting another foe or critic. ("Hey Pope Francis, you suck!") Trump is campaigning as a bombastic buffoon, playing to the crowd and inspiring love-hate viewing. Yet, I believe my dear comrades at HuffPo (and I hope they will link to this article) are wrong.

It's not that Trump is truly a statesman who ought to be regarded as such. But he is a political phenomenon that tell us much about a significant slice of the American public: Republican voters. It is indeed a drop-dead serious matter that a large bloc of GOPers—perhaps a plurality, depending on which poll you prefer—would entrust this nation to Trump. And the fact that Trump's demagoguery is prevailing at this early stage of the Republican presidential race is a measure of how far the tea party shift in the party has gone—and how this ideological extremism has developed deep roots within the GOP.

Trump is not a problem for the Republicans because of his excessive, made-for-headlines, provocative (or racist) pronouncements. (He's gone from birther to Mexican-basher.) He's a problem because one out of six or so Republicans are exclaiming, "Yeah, what he said!" If Trump were polling at the same level of, say, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (2 percent), he certainly would deserve minimal notice. But his muscular showing in Republican voter surveys—which will land this media-savvy say-anything egomaniac on the GOP debate stage—is a sign that tea party extremism (which often comes with a racial component) still grips the Republican party. He's not a carnival barker outside the tent. He holds sway over one of the rings of the GOP circus. The center ring? Maybe not. But for years, the Republicans have exploited and banked on paranoid, angry, and resentful tea party-ish voters. They played footsie with the irrational Obama-haters who believed in death panels and all the secret-Muslim-socialist-born-in-Kenyan-dictator-take-away-your-guns-let-illegals-in-and-destroy-America crap. This is how they gained control of the House and then the Senate.

Well, this crowd wants more red meat. And Mr. You're Fired has identified this market and seeks to satisfy the demand.

To Arianna and all my wonderful friends at Huffington Post, I understand the impulse to say we won't allow Trump to transform the race into a freak show—TrumpTV™—but I most respectfully submit that to exile Trump to the realm of the Kardashians is to let the Republican party off the hook too easily. Trump poses a crisis for his party. It may be entertaining for the Democrats to watch. But this crisis is not transpiring in TMZ-land. It's what the GOP has brought upon itself. Here is the ROI on the GOP's extreme politics.

Ultimately, the story is not Trump, but the Trumpers™ who were encouraged and used by the party—remember when House Speaker John Boehner held an anti-Obamacare rally at the Capitol and the tea party crowd chanted, "Nazis, Nazis" about the Democrats?—and who now crave more and will not settle for a Jeb Bush or Scott Walker. As of now, Trump, with all his bluster and bleating, is their celebrity champion, the contestant they embrace and root for. And that's no sideshow.

Trump says John McCain not a war hero

Quote:
AMES, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a decorated Vietnam War veteran, on Saturday by saying McCain was not a war hero because he was captured by the North Vietnamese.

“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said. Sarcastically, Trump quipped, “He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Then, he added, “I like people that weren’t captured.”

Show is over.

Might have an effect on his poll numbers, even the guys who call McCain a RINO don't have the balls to criticize his military record. I say we put the Donald in a grass hut and torture him for a few days and see if he can keep his mouth shut. McCain kept his mouth shut for like a year.

First circus debate is Aug 6, we will see if he can stay in the top 10 after these comments in which every single GOP candidate has slammed him, except for Cruz who apparently has no idea how to run for President.

Oh, his poll numbers will be fine. He has such a huge lead in name recognition over everyone else, he'll limp along just based on that. My concern is that he'll end up getting some self-awareness and drop out, and that's when the terrorists win.

Nah, he only has a 3 point lead on Bush and a 5 point lead on Walker, and since the margin of error is 5 percent, the 3 of them are pretty much tied. It has helped that the other candidates have refused to address him, until today. He has spent the whole day backpedaling, he is going to drop, the only question is can he stay in the top 10. At the very least he has certainly cost himself a few questions at the debate.

It has less to do with staying in the top 10 and more to do with whether or not he can justify to himself releasing his financial information.

So even though John McCain is a total loser (which a lot of people agree with), mocking his war record was not the way to go. Hopefully Trump will learn from that.

This one's good though:

Quote:
Donald Trump's campaign dismissed the Huffington Post as a "glorified blog" in a statement on Friday evening.

Trump's attack on the website came after the Huffington Post announced it would cover Trump's presidential campaign on its entertainment page rather than in its politics section. Huffington Post Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim also dismissed Trump as "a clownshow" in an interview about the decision with Business Insider.

"The only clown show in this scenario is the Huffington Post pretending to be a legitimate news source," the Trump campaign statement said.

Though the statement was titled "Donald J. Trump Response To Huffington Post," a Trump spokeswoman said it was attributable to his campaign. The statement pointed to the fact Trump has previously criticized the Huffington Post on Twitter.

"If you read previously written Tweets, Mr. Trump has never been a fan of Arianna Huffington or the money-losing Huffington Post," the statement said.

Indeed, in one 2012 tweet, Trump launched a series of personal attacks on the site's cofounder and editor in chief, Arianna Huffington, that referenced her 1997 divorce from a former congressman who later announced he was gay:
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump said:
.@ariannahuff is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man- he made a good decision.
4:54 PM - 28 Aug 2012
The Trump campaign's statement also touted his positioning in a series of polls and vowed he would win the first two presidential primaries.

"Mr. Trump is number one in the unimportant Huffington Post poll, along with all other recently released polls including Reuters, FOX, USA Today/Suffolk University, and The Economist. Mr. Trump is in first place in Nevada, where he is also number one, by a wide margin, with Hispanics. He is number one in North Carolina and expects to win Iowa and New Hampshire," the statement said.

In his interview with Business Insider, Grim said Trump is only performing well in the polls "because of the big field" in the Republican primary.

The Trump campaign's statement also boasted his recent controversial comments about Mexican immigrants "singlehandedly raised the issue of illegal immigration and started a national conversation about what has turned out to be one of the most important topics of this election cycle."

"Likewise, Mr. Trump is the leader on issues such as the terrible United States trade deals, strengthening our military, taking care of our great Vets and the repeal and replacement of Obamacare," the statement said.
Donald Trump just took his feud with the Huffington Post to the next level

So, we're neck deep in the liberal media offensive against trump (republicans) right now. Following the standard template rump of; someone says something grossly inappropriate, the media reports it as provoking national outrage and therefore needs to go, also ignoring any possible contextual attributes that might dull the potency of their narrative. Republican politicians pile on in their desperate attempt to avoid the spotlight and become a target themselves. The target (trump in this case) usually succumbs to the pressure and issues the mea-culpa therefore validating the media narrative that was created in the first place.

I mean Joe Biden sticks his foot in his mouth (all the time) and it's just joe-being-joe. Democrats challenged McCain's war record in 2008 (some going so far as to call him a war criminal) without such a media consequence. McCain himself calls tea party people "crazies" "hobbits" etc, and yet there is no comparable reaction from the media for these cases.

Trump isn't playing that game, there is yno mea-culpa. Instead he is doubling down and his polling numbers have yet to take the hit the media are looking for. It's too early to tell, but what's the media and democrat party going to do if/when their standard playbook becomes UN-reliable? I mean what's the liberal media going to do when they throw a hissy fit and it turns out that the country isn't buying it anymore?
