Quote: Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released in multiple parts.
According to Square, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be "told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience."
No additional details were provided, including any kind of price or release timing for part one.
The Final Fantasy VII remake was first announced at E3 and we recently heard the original composer won't be involved.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of Vanille but I'm sure SE wanted her to have that accent like that for whatever reason.
It's not uncommon for placeholders to be recorded for storyboarding purposes then never replaced as an oversight. English VO on a lot of originally JP stuff is pretty poorly dubbed as well, and they rarely do any correction in the animation. Advent Children is a good example, actually. There's a number of times when the voices just plain don't line up to the mouths. Don't even get me started on Cait Sith's terribad English accent.

It's a terrible English accent cuz he's supposed to be Irish.

Well, then it's a terrible Irish accent that sounds like a terrible English accent that's done by someone who is neither and sucks at both.

The name Cait Sith is derived from a Scottish legend, so maybe that had something to do with it. I just figured the crazy accent was to mask the fact that it was Reeve... but yeah, I didn't like it in Advent Children either way.

I liked it actually, maybe I'm not that picky with them. I still feel people are being armchair VA specialists because I don't see the issue.

The Cu Sith? That's predominantly Scottish but also has an Irish Heritage.
But the fact he says "Aye Laddy" is very Stereotypical Scottish.

I didn't mind the rest of the main cast voices too much and I thought some were rather good, but the idea of such a strong accent being used for extended dialogue makes me shudder a tad. It's not that I hate the stereotypical Scottish accent, as I had no problem with it in Shrek. Cait Sith just sounded... off. /shrug

Cat Sìth, not the Cu Sith- that's more of a wolf thing.

Looking forward to the remake, but how would a game like FF7 work with episodes, where you can travel the world map and enter areas?
Now that I think about it, how did it work with 3 disks anyways. I guess each disk had unique content that was only available on that disk, but then there was content that you could access at any point on any of the disks.
So... I suppose it can work like PS1 disks did. I just hope its like the disks, where its the same playthrough, and not a new game each episode.
If each episode is a new playthrough it wouldn't be the worst thing, but it would just feel wrong to me.

Pretty sure you could only get so far on each disc and then once you get to the next disc new things open up in areas where you've already been
I think it would work just fine

They are reusing the ATB system, they just are making it real time instead of turn based.
It's a remake but it is adding its own charm, so I would recommend giving it a fair chance before shaming it.

You're pretty much right. There was a lot of data shared between discs, and things that were no longer necessary like main story FMV cutscenes were removed to make space for the next ones.

Aeris/Aerith in HD interests me. Tifa got a fair amount of screentime and a full fight scene in Advent Children, as well as complete move sets in games like Dissidia and Ehrgeiz. Since FFVII, Aeris often doesn't even get all of her face shown in AC, exists in Dissidia only as an assist, and does practically no fighting in any other media she's been in. It's time to see the flower girl actually busting some skulls in HD with that staff of hers.

That special moment in your childhood when you carefully hit the eject button and took out the Disk like you were a *** surgeon and ever so gently placed Disk 2 into the tray.. and prayed to the Almighty Bahamut.

Ok I'm gonna chime in here and mention...
It's not turn based, it's the ATB system, active time battle, you never took it in turns to fight, anyone who pumped a lot of speed into their characters on FF7 would realise this.
FFX was turn based, the more agility you had, the more turns you got, you could wait there for infinity and the monster would not get a turn until you were done with your own.

Ah yeah, my bad, i remember the time/limit bar fill up on screen now, sorry its been 12 years since I've actually played the game. My apologies master.

I'm assuming you mean even if you are selecting an option the monsters bar is still charging/can attack while you decide what you are doing. There was an option to disable this and make it "turn based" while you were able to plan out what you should do in harder situations or when you were low on hp from too many chain battles away from town. ff12 had it too that i know of where the game kind of pauses while deciding what you're doing, all under options. If they include this option in the remake i wont have any issue with what ever kind of system they add.

I'm currently looking more towards this release of FFX for PC. I have the original VII disks and the steam version, which I never played through yet to see if the graphics work properly during the mini games. I might give that a play through soon.
Let me know when there's a Chrono Cross Remastered and Remade (PC of course) and then I'll be sure to get excited.
Hell, I would even welcome any new type of battle system.

Unfortunately Tidus' laugh will forever remain sculpted in history as one of the most horrific moments in a videogame. Assuming you mean the scene after the Blitzball Cup, I was fine with it as it was supposed to be a forced laugh. Yuna just introduced him into the always smiling duty of the guardians. The honest laughing of these two started at the end when the scene already blacks out
At least that is my impression of this scene.

Videogames imo suffer from a different problem: the dialogues are often discontinued, like if every sentence was on its own and they tend to lack fluidity. Often times that's because that's how it is for video game voice acting, particularly in games with branching conversations. The VAs are given their lines to say, told something of the context and how it should be said ie sad/angry and then it's synced up to to the CS. You could have 2 characters who had a conversation in the game but their VAs were never in the same room at any point.
Im not sure which one seems more appropriate at this point'
A friend sent me this link. Never heard of the source but i couldn't find anything to suggest it was a satire site or something of the sort.

Quote: Report: Final Fantasy VII is Getting a PS4 Remake for its 20th Anniversary
Final Fantasy VII is arguably the most often-requested remake, and longtime fans may be getting their wish. According to Siliconera's sources, Square Enix is remaking Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 4 in honor of its upcoming 20th anniversary. This is said to be a full remake, and not the previously-announced port. Cloud will have a more modern style, similar to his look in Dissidia Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Square Enix has not confirmed this report at this time, but an announcement could be coming soon.
