Anyone have editing rights or privileges to the Summoner guide? The guide still looks amazing and clean, but it's not being kept updated. As with many other job guides, this one could use a little love. Someone new to the game or to the job in general might not be keen on sifting through 73 pages in hopes of getting their simple gear question(s) answered.

Generally, Volt Strike is my strongest physical pact. I am working through my Jps, about 800 in, and am wondering about Mana Cede. For peeps well past this, how does a max Mana Cede'd Eclipse Bite (or am I missing another good damage varies w/ TP Pact?) out-do a Volt. I understand that TP does impact crit rate- but I'd imagine it's not nearly as good of a buff a as a straight damage one.
Just wondering with maybe maxed JP in the category and Empy hands, it may make more sense to use a different pact when it's up. At this point, my eyeballing it on my 1k Mana Cedes doesn't seem to be worth it, but i also haven't spent the JP or acquired the hands...gonna go work on those today. Shiva.Alistrianna

Volt Strike should be stronger regardless. My Volt's were still stronger than Eclipse Bite with 3k TP. If you are capped attack vs your target, Volt Strike doesn't even need TP to do its max damage since crits dont increase the attack ratio cap for pets.

People have thrown around making a new guide or editing the existing one for along time (myself included). I don't think anyone can get ahold of the author though to edit this node. Also on bg-wiki faequeen made a huge guide just recently so you could see if that helps you too.
don't know why/when, but i'm able to edit it. just put in 'this is a test' to confirm.

I used this one: https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/The_Heretical_Art:_Comprehensive_Summoner_Guide It's up to date as of AF+3 and very descriptive as to what he uses, why, and alternatives if you don't agree with him. Oh, well this is interesting. It seems I have editing capabilities also. :o
It seems like I can edit also... Are you sure it's not an open node?
Edit: I wouldn't mind helping out on the guide since a lot of people seemed to really like the Geomancer guide I made. I don't want to step on any toes though, I would be mad if someone changed my guide out of nowhere. Asura.Avallon

Actually I can edit too, but not from the front page.
I saved a copy of the guide as is in case anything bad happens with all the editors. I'd say whoever has time update it though, including explanations of the new bp recast system with favor, gear, a checkbox for fTP carry bps, adding the consumes tp to all physical pacts, healing sets, etc. I'm wondering why none of us ever noticed till now and also why I can't see any edit stuff on the front page ~_~ Asura.Avallon

Those of us with access can chip in as far as I'm concerned. Aside from flashy graphics and Industrial Light & Magic imagery, what matters most to me are that today's end game gear scenarios from start to finish are wholly updated and described accurately.
This would include details such as, Claustrum's use in today's SMN dynamic, potential and detailed builds for specific BP's (such as Volt Strike and the debate about Double Attack), how and when Merlinic armor can surpass Apogee, and so on. There's really a lot to cover that is absent from the present guide so maybe a collaboration effort is in order. Let's just keep the *** "I was the first to get x-item" and other e-peen measuring nonsense out of the team effort. I would definitely add skillchain applications with Apogee somewhere. The guide currently has a pretty basic example for them but it doesn't include using 2 avatars together to skillchain. From what I have seen from most summoners they will simply do Volt strike x2 or 2 flaming crushes etc... which is not an efficient use of Apogee imo. I made a video a few weeks ago showing off some 2-3 step skillchains using multiple avatars and the summoner.

Also I think the guide is good in part because it has so much brevity. If you look at it now it's about 5% text and 95% tables, images, lists, names of abilities, gear sets and so on. This is one thing that makes it great, it's full of information with almost zero noise. I don't think detailed explanations etc should exist and certainly not textwalls. Keep it purely informative. It should be good as a reference and if people want more information than it has they can always ask. It's very visual as is right now and as is even if we just updated the sets would be one of the better guides on ffxiah. Asura.Avallon

The guide is really artistically beautiful. It's just severely outdated (not everything, but quite a bit). Aside from situational uses of Helios, every armor and accessory that released beyond when that Skirmish came out is completely absent from all the current gear sets. EDIT: And yes, to follow up with Brixy. I'd definitely support his involvement without question. His GEO guide is first-class with regards to detail and visual presentation. It's a crying shame many of the other job guides haven't been given the same attention as what Falkirk (BST), Krystela (WHM), Brixy (GEO) etc have done. Offline
Ya I'd say take it slow no one go crazy and add a novel or an essay on their view of something etc. In my opinion a priority list would be:
1) Update sets and abilities, peer reviewed before added, as is with no other changes 2) discuss any other changes with peers 3) make said changes that people can agree on We have a rare opportunity to make it better via collaboration lets not ruin it. Totally agree sets should be first. I'm assuming you need capped FC for self-chaining Avatars? I've never seen it as an option due to not being capped FC yet. :/
Probably need at least 50% to do it fast enough I think. Takes a little practice with the timing to not get the error messages and mess yourself up lol.

Thinking I may edit the guide with completeley erroneous info about Blood Pact Damage JPs, and incorrect odds of DA's kicking on on BloodPacts!
Guide only lists lv.119 and lv.121 for avatars currently and they don't seem to match up to the current stats. Someone feel free to double check these. Sancus Sachet +1 used to determine all the numbers. Accuracy in quotes subtracts the 20 accuracy gained from the satchet.

I agree with Verda that info should take priority. The banner looks great! Quick questions though: With a 'Subjob' category already in the lineup, wouldn't the WHM and BLM sections be part of that? Also, I see that there's a nuking gearset in the current guide, but how often are we actually nuking anything? Legit question and I'm just curious about that. I totally get some of us are bored enough to the point that we're exploring all kinds of obscure nuances with the job itself, but I personally am not nuking anything in the current end game meta. If you guys are, I'd be curious to see what your reasons are and how effective it actually is - particularly in terms of using MP for that instead of feeding your avatars. Also, Job Points are missing from the banner unless it's assumed that they're part of the Merits category (which even then it might not be a bad idea to post the words "job points" anyway. The banner looks great though. Anyone have any other category they'd think would be relevant for the banner that isn't listed? Offline

1.) For Avatar stats, if you are going to post them now I think you need to decide what is the baseline and clarify it in the post. For instance, I would imagine Brixy's posted stats above include Mastered JP spend, possibly Merits, and Gifts (my apologies if I am wrong on that). But it's probably why they are considerably stronger than the numbers in the OP. Maybe someone needs to get SMN to 99 on an alt, and get a Seraphcaller to test baseline, and then one of the Mastered/Nirvana peeps show the max higher level stats. Edit: or we can just assume the OP's base stats are right and save the work. Don't think baseline 122 is too important, as I doubt there are many 0 JP Nirvana users.
2.) As a relatively new SMN, I know something I would really like to see is perhaps some good in game uses for some of the more obscure niche Blood Pacts. When you get to 99 so quickly, all of a sudden you have a ton of Blood Pacts that you have never used. I have to keep a BG page up just so that I have quick reference for what they all do. You kind of get in the Hastega/Warcry/Crystal Blessing mode, with maybe an obvious Defensive one occasionally. But I know skills like Mewing Lullaby or Earthen Armor are probably game changers used perfectly. Other than Ambuscade, the fights in the game are pretty static. I'd love to see some examples where a BP fits an enemy encounter perfectly. Dispel, aspir, and sleep are all super important if you are /sch. I don't really bother nuking but I love to have the option to aspir something. For things like Capacity parties doing apex crabs all 3 spells can be pretty useful. I considered removing shell my responsibility since I can magic burst instantly and can afford the time it takes to cast dispel. If you are doing melee with your avatar you can also do something like shattersoul > rush for darkness then magic burst aspir to keep yourself sustained on mp.
I completely forgot about job gifts for avatars. I was wondering why my stats where much higher than the guide said. Totally slipped my mind lol Asura.Avallon
