FFXI Ends: Where Will You Log For The Last Time?

The BC entrance to CoP's final fight "Dawn", as there was never a more tense and satisfying feeling than preparing to take on Promathia. That music (during the fight) was so good i have it on my phone still.

Runner ups: Al Taieu, East Adoulin, Outer Rak (that music is awesome), Zi Tah, Whitegate, West Ronfaure, S Sandy, Aby La Thiene, Valley of Sorrows where I got my first relic ghorn, or lastly a cloister zone (any would do).

For me it'll be at the spot I logged out and cancelled back in 2003, Misareaux Coast overlooking the waterfall.

I hope they don't rush these expansions and release new crap rushed zones like far east that's only a tiny town with one field area(like bastok markets[s] and one field area which is a rehash of an existing zone). They mentioned new zones so i can picture the mithra homeland being a rehash of kazham with different music and a generic jungle-like new zone or something.

My most vivid memory as a DRG in my early game career was going up to Xarc to get the crystal and get some snowy weather for the SMN quest as well while I was up there, just a level 30 DRG, and my two friends attacked Shadow Dragon and killed it for the hell of it. Biast popped and proceeded to murder each of us in turn. On that day eight (nine?) years ago, laying in the cold snow, I swore my revenge.

I think when I'll go, it'll be in Xarcabard with Biast impaled on my Ryunohige. A testament to how much changed from that original newbie DRG all those years ago.

I'm back to taking chocobos, boats and airships. Aw yeah.

First I would login to watch the opening scene for the last time. Then I would ride the airship next to the pilot and watch Vanadiel unfold underneath us until connection was lost.

South Gustaberg, Vomp Hill

Without a doubt, Al Taieu. I have never come across a zone that has affected me as much in any game. The surroundings, the fiends, the music - it has a quality to it that really resonates with me. Whenever I zone in, I feel alien somehow - I think of all my adventures within FFXI - the music seems to set me off and I've often to stared at my PC monitor thinking about the past. It's just a beautiful zone. It's oddness and quirkiness truly make me love it. When the time comes, I'll be in Al Taieu waiting for the end. And after the end happens I'll have my camera staring into the sky, saying goodbye one last time before I literally "Shut down."

I will log out in Nashmau after dropping everything of value in front of Paparoon.

Probably in the middle of fighting something, they'll have to actually shut down the servers before I bother stopping, unless I get really really bored.

By the way, I hate all these threads popping up with misleading names as if the game is being shut down any time in the immediate future.

I'm actually the last man standing amongst 4 friends we all started
in December 2003 in Hades. So I'll finish in one of Bastoks bars toasting to all the memories.

All this nostalgia and feelings

Thank god everyone is quiting this year so you guys can finally feel the real life.

In my MH, since it's much easier to log out there and I don't have to wait for the stupid logout timer.

Probably at the Chocobo stables in Upper Jeuno. That's the first night I remember and has stayed with me over the years, I remember how excited I was to get my chocobo license so I stayed up all night sat by the chocobo feeding it until it was ready. Watched the sun come up outside my window as I finally rode a chocobo for the first time.

Probably near the Savage Blade NM, or by the 4 nearby Antican NMs, it was the first major activity I did to help the player who would eventually become my wife. 6 years later, (1 year married), it's one of the most precious memories I have in this game. As I currently live with her and another couple who met in game, and the four of us who all met on Ifrit, and have been best friends ever since.

La Theine Plateau, corner of (I/J-7/8), looking East towards where the rainbow pops.

When I first started the game in 2004 in Pandemonium, the first person who helped me was a Lv8 WHM. I started out as BLM and didn't know I had to equip anything. Fighting by hand a Wild Rabbit, an Orc aggroed and made short work of me.

I sent her a /tell (I can't remember her name, I've met so many people over the years, sorry :[) saying how I'd been doing and how hard the enemies were and she patiently instructed me that I had to equip my Ash Staff and probably be a good time to use that Scroll of Stone too. Then she gave me a linkpearl and proceeded to kill the Orc with a single swing of the staff. "Whoa, she's good" I thought. She then proceeded to heal for me, and then we'd party together once I hit lv 10.

We started leveling by ourselves for a while at La Theine, and then we saw that rainbow, somebody had just become a summoner (I didn't know what that was at that time), so we just sat there and it was a great sunset, then it started raining :D.

After we started joining groups on Valkurm, we'd stop on that spot at La Theine and just sit and talk before heading back to Sandy and logging out.

Eventually we just started drifting apart. It just happens, on LS you start talking and doing stuff with different people, eventually our LS broke and I never knew what happened with her. I dropped BLM at 28 and changed to WHM which I took to 50.

After a few months I saw her leveling her BLM at West Ronfaure, so I cast Protect and started tossing a few cures on her. After a while we talked, she asked why I wasn't BLM anymore, etc. Short time later, I didn't see her anymore anywhere, I think she left the game.

That was my first year in Vana'diel.

That first time I got beat by that Orc and I saw her take it out, I told her, "I'm gonna take BLM and make it very powerful", thus the reason she asked why I wasn't playing BLM anymore.

Eventually, I left Pandemonium too and moved to Garuda, where I changed to DRK where I stayed until I was able to re-take BLM in 2011.

The last day I play, I'm going to La Theine, I'm getting decked out in my best BLM gear, and I'll just sit there, as the sun sets on both La Theine Plateau and my time on Vana'diel, I'll say to myself, her memory, and the memory of all the friend I've made over the years, "I made it".
