R.I.P. Leonard Nimoy. Today is a sad day :(
Leonard Nimoy today @83 years old. Sad day indeed :(
As I posted elsewhere, a pirate's salute to him.
Best-known and loved (by myself as well) as Spock, he did so much more. I personally enjoyed his late-life photography projects. A loss to the sci-fi and artistic community, to be sure. GOD DAMNIT and they were just about to make new Star Wars movies! What are they going to do now?!

Think you missed the point.. Anyway, this is terrible news. Star Trek has meant so much to so many people. As a Graphic Designer and Photographer myself, his work (Photography) has always been very inspiring. Anyone who is interested in portraiture or figure photography should check it out. Its very Rembrandt-esque and stands as a strong example of what most photographers strive for with regards to lighting and composition. On a lighter note.. I had no idea he was that young. Almost threw in a joking reference to the the Treehouse of Horror episode he did, but thought better of it. The temptation, though! Lillica's going to get e-pummeled by Trekies. RIP :(
RIP
I love this commercial with him YouTube Video Placeholder

(83) Had to confirm this as there was no link in OP. (too many false reports on Facebook all the time, etc.)
It's true. Speechless. And on my birthday no less :( Quote: Leonard Nimoy, the sonorous, gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock, the resolutely logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83. His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Mr. Nimoy announced that he had the disease last year, attributing it to years of smoking, a habit he had given up three decades earlier. He had been hospitalized earlier in the week. Continue reading the main story Related Coverage His artistic pursuits — poetry, photography and music in addition to acting — ranged far beyond the United Federation of Planets, but it was as Mr. Spock that Mr. Nimoy became a folk hero, bringing to life one of the most indelible characters of the last half century: a cerebral, unflappable, pointy-eared Vulcan with a signature salute and blessing: “Live long and prosper” (from the Vulcan “Dif-tor heh smusma”). Happy Birthday Chaosx!
Goodbye, Mr. Nimoy. You were a big part of my younger years. Thank you for everything. Odin.Godofgods

This isn't a sad day, this is a devastating day ;;
I looked up to spock when I was young because I was fascinated by computers and science. He was such a strong character that I don't think star trek would be alive if it wasn't for him, not sure what my interests would be in today if he hadn't played spock. And Nimoy himself did some great work outside of star trek esp in art. ;; Do you think the Fal-tor-pan would work in this case? ;; Going over his IMDB profile and wow, he did a lot.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000559/ I forgot that he voiced Xehanort in a couple Kingdom Hearts games. Shiva.Cymopoleia said: » This isn't a sad day, this is a devastating day ;; nonsense, celebrate life, don't mourn it's loss. especially for a dude who made it to 83. Leonard Nimoy is officially the ONLY person I know, who can tweet from beyond the grave
Seriously, he just Tweeted his own death (way to go PR Person) https://twitter.com/therealnimoy While his contributions can not be denied, I simply don't agree with the whole "sad day" bit. He was 83. Once you hit like 70, you're pretty much on borrowed time. With life expectancy ranging from 73-78 (depending on gender/location/circumstances), hitting 83 is a good long life. In Leonard's case, he lived long past it and had a fruitful career.
For someone who lived as long as he did and contributed as much as he did, you don't mourn their passing. You celebrate their memory and what they gave. I for one will always remember him from my first encounter with his career; Galvatron's original voice in the 80's Transformers movie. Its definitely not too late to get him to Mount Seleya!
