I should show this to all my physician friends. They like a good laugh at "science" a 5th grader could refute.

Rates of disease and the variety of diseases we suffer have been increasing in the same period that we've been vaccinating. Surely that's proof that vaccinations are killing us! It couldn't possibly be related to the fact that we're not all dying before our 40th birthdays.

Anyone watch BBC's Downton Abbey? It portrays upper class Britain a mere 100 years ago and it tends to kill off two major characters per season, which makes it frighteningly accurate of life expectancy back when my grandparents were being born. The only character who has managed to be diagnosed with a chronic disease, the kind we have a lot of these days, is the family dog (cancer).

...For one. A TV show for your analogy.. My wife watches that isn't there like 80yr olds running around. One for sure that I know of, the one from harry potter.

It cute how you credit vaccines for living longer and not the better and cleaner way of life of the last century. Not to mention that Penicillin was discovered in 1929 by Alexander Flemming. If people should be praising anything it should be antibiotics, vitamins, plumbing...

Again, not saying all vaccines are bad. But talking about forcing all vaccines on people is asinine to say the least.

How about we make them liable for infecting others? Your unvaccinated 5y/o at the same daycare as someones 10 month old who's not old enough to be vaccinated yet catches say... measles and suffers mental or physical defects because you choose to not vaccinate. I think they should be held liable for their dumb *** choices.

Oh yeah that explains why the graphs for children under 5 and 15 years of age have an either declining slide or in some cases an increasing slide. The little whippersnappers are living longer.

WHO statistics, centre for desease control, etc. yeah, looks like the agencies you guys normally quote for evidence in defence are now a bunch of useless 5 graders. Not to mention the creator is a Ph. D senior advisor for the First Nations centre. But what does he know compared to your friends right?

You mean disparate data that shows 20 people 100,000 per year (which is an estimated 7,000 people) die from influenza in the US annually, while roughly 90-100 children under the age of 5 die per year, since the second graph is not listed as "per 100,000"?

In the article you base all your anti-flu shot ***, the "genius" journalist cites an article as (supposedly) debunking 2005 estimations of the shots reducing the mortality caused by the flu in 50%. Like you she probably didn't read the full article, which says that the mortality reduction was overestimated, but one of their conclusions is also this:
It is important to note, however, that if high vaccination coverage had been achieved during the 1968 pandemic and the following decade, many of the approximately 130 000 influenza-related deaths that occurred in this period among people aged 45 to 74 years might have been prevented.

Stop spreading *** please, you can show your grades and whatever (biology is your lowest grade as I can see, though), saying that the flu vaccine is like taking vitamins shows perfectly your level of understating on the subject.

Supposing the worst estimates there are 270 ppl/y in the US injured by flu vaccine (and a fraction of them die). Supposing that all of them die, it would take 481 years to equal the deaths of that decade.

So you're saying that you suddenly trust the data provided by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control when someone claims they back up your insupportable tripe?

Little hint: when I'm using a television show as support for what I'm saying, it's to show my contempt for the inept argument. It's subtle, I know, not helped by the fact that the concept of subtlety died an unpleasant, lingering death back in 1983 due to over-exposure to Flock of Seagulls. Darn, there I go hiding my contempt in meaningless pop culture again.

Also, the mortality rates didn't simply decline on their own.

As far back as 1918, there were already measures being put into place, such as transfusing blood from recovered patients into new victims of the Spanish Flu.

Then a break through occurred in late 1931 about viral growth in embryonated hen's eggs reported by Ernest William Goodpasture at Vanderbilt University, along with several other colleagues.

So, your first chart is a timeline record of early and experimental vaccinations working as intended.

Quote:
In the U.S. swine flu scare of 1976, President Gerald Ford was confronted with a potential swine flu pandemic. The vaccination program was rushed, yet plagued by delays and public relations problems. Meanwhile, maximum military containment efforts succeeded unexpectedly in confining the new strain to the single army base where it had originated. On that base a number of soldiers fell severely ill, but only one died. The program was canceled, after about 24% of the population had received vaccinations. An excess in deaths of twenty-five over normal annual levels as well as 400 excess hospitalizations, both from Guillain-Barré syndrome, were estimated to have occurred from the vaccination program itself, illustrating that vaccine itself is not free of risks. The result has been cited to stoke lingering doubts about vaccination. In the end, however, even the maligned 1976 vaccine may have saved lives. A 2010 study found a significantly enhanced immune response against the 2009 pandemic H1N1 in study participants who had received vaccination against the swine flu in 1976.

So if I'm reading this correctly, you're attributing greater longevity with advances in medical science and modern technology, but you're leaving vaccines off that list because... reasons?

Its like you are looking in the mirror when trying to address me. Its really adorable. Everything you try to allege about everyone else on this site is only attributable to you. Looking in this thread, everything you have posted has been thoroughly disproven, most of the time by your own links that you fail to understand. But please, keep trying to post for our entertainment.

Lol, yeah, a tantrum.

Not vaccinating has serious ramifications for others. If you don't care enough about your own health or the health of your family's to make thoughtful, informed decisions, that's fine. No one cares. It's everyone else that deserve the concern. That thought hasn't quite percolated in yet, but hopefully you'll get it.

I care. Just because someone's father is an idiot makes ill-informed decisions doesn't mean they should suffer disease with possible complications and death.

There's also the fact that influenza vaccinations help to protect against influenza based respiratory problems and infections. But you know, it being a scam and all.

You can't prove a negative.

If flu shots are beneficial, then the burden of proof is on those who think they are.

Did you know Penicillin kills just as much people per year as flu shots do?

Must be a scam also. Because reasons.

Or how about that vaccinating against one strain, can offer higher resistances to other strains. Or prevent respiratory problems associated with the influenza virus. And so on.

But you know, keep going with the scam bit. it's pretty funny because there's no evidence to prove it.

Also, if your relative was having second thoughts about medication, it's prudent to take on some of that good old personal responsibility and get a second opinion. Although doctors will almost always have more information than what a "quick research" glance on the internet will do. So... That means talking to your doctor will determine whether or not a vaccination is a tangible idea, or if you may be heading towards medical complications because you forgot to open mouth and ask a some questions.

The data you provided actually meshes with those graphs of distorted information. You provided an article pointing out that the common flu vaccine distributed annually is inefficient, if not completely useless, for the most at-risk populations, meaning the very young and the very old. So pointing at a chart that shows the very young remain susceptible in spite of that just reinforces your own data.

However, you keep saying that the flu vaccine is snake oil despite your own citation indicating that it does have a measurable effect for robust, healthy immune systems, that is, in people aged roughly 5-65.

You're making a universal claim that your own citation disproves. If this was real life, I'd give you a smack in the back of your head in hopes of making you feel embarrassed enough to shut up.
