It's not her parents fault. The child was extremely confused by being told it was not okay, and a phase while it was something they wanted in order to probably be more socially acceptable in the way that they probably saw girls being noticed/treated. There's a significant difference between telling someone that something is wrong/not OK/unacceptable, and telling them that it is OK that they feel that way. It is non-acceptance versus acceptance.
The confusion came from the internet in which a community of people decided to support a child who's mind was underdeveloped. They took her under their wings and said: It's okay, they're wrong, they don't get you, we do, they don't love you, we do, they can't accept you, we will.
The child took this to heart and took her life. That's a bit of an oversimplification. Regardless of if there are others in the world that are willing to accept you or not, most people highly value the acceptance and approval of their parents (almost regardless of whether or not they should). Not having that is painful on many levels.

On what *** planet would it be more socially acceptable to "choose" to be transgender? You're ignorantly and wrongfully starting with the premise that these things are a choice. I can't believe this still needs to be explicitly stated in 20-***-14 -sexuality is not a choice. It's an innate characteristic.
This boy was looking for some sort of support and it came from individuals over the internet since her own family couldn't be halfway decent enough to accept their child as different. I love love love victim blaming. As if it's unconscionable that families show hostility towards their LGBT children. I mean, we have people here trumpeting the use of the word 'it' to describe other people like it's anything more than a derogatory term for the transgendered. Classy.

Except being transgender is still not socially acceptable, no one "chooses" this route. You grossly misunderstand this situation in particular, and transgender issues as a whole. Not everything is "because tumblr".
To be fair, I can't say that I am particularly well versed in this area. However, it would be delinquent to not point out that (in this scenario) we are asking pre-pubescent children to be making a choice (in conjunction with experts) with far greater personal consequences then most choices other people make even when adults.
Which raises a seperate question about the age of majority.
Actually, it's more like giving minors the chance to make the choice when they are ready. Blockers delay puberty, stop taking them, and puberty resumes as normal. It is not like giving them hormones right off the bat. It's still a serious decision, but it buys them time instead of forcing them to go through the opposite puberty. Most doctors will not prescribe hormone replacement therapy until sixteen, anyway.

Let's clarify something:
If someone actively identifies as male or female, and you call them 'it', you (at least in the US, last I checked) are free to do so.
In the same vein, that doesn"t prevent other people from calling you a douche, ***, idiot, or troglodyte.
However, purposefully using demeaning language with regards to someone"s sexuality or sexual preference while in a workplace could very well be construed as improper behavior/sexual harrassment, above and beyond just being an ***.
It almost has gotten to the point that I can't even muster the enthusiasm to say 'Hey dickwad, get it right, they are as much of a person (and probably a better one) than you are'. It has just gotten easier to let the cretins self-identify themselves, and then just isolate/ostracize them.

The problem with that logic is that you're taking what's considered normative to him and trying to relate it to something very much not. People can make associations between like things of varying magnitude, but they won't ever concede any link between their way and the "wrong way". That said, it's not flawed reasoning specifically, the flaw is only in who you are targeting with it.
