As far as I know DA on a BP only adds the damage that one melee does onto the BP.

Correct, which is what makes crit so much better. There's no reason to "mix", or use DA at all, while crit exists as an option in the slot.

An extra melee swing is still only an extra melee swing, even if it crits. Critting on the BP itself is much more important. Crit is simply a more powerful stat point for point, and having more DA does not change this.

This is not even considering the Aftermath either, which by that logic, crit would be even more important to stack instead of DA.

i dont know how you guys doing 10k+ dmg if im ddoing 5-6k im doing good lol on escha grash's

also my skirmish staff melee is doing more then ifrits melee :/

and i have a pet: 30 attk lol

granted im only at 284 skill lol

These days your melee damage will outdo an avatar's melee damage with ease unless you use a lower level staff.
As for Flaming Crush, what are you using and what are the augments on the gear you use?

Keep in mind that Flaming crush benefits from both +BP damage as well as Pet: MAB gear.

^ what Shira said, but I would add Pet: attack too. Altough it has a smaller influence that mab and bp dmg, it still counts. (especially when you can get large amounts from GEOs and/or COR rolls)

So, I've got questions, that always come back to frustration.
Many opinions, but not a concrete definitive "BIS".

I run the following:
ItemSet 367497

Head path C, Feet path C since pet ATT and MAB
Legs path D, cause STR20, BPD 14, 4% double ATT.
My merlinic hands have BPD 10, ATT 19, MAB 5

I don't have Nirvana, so... trying to really figure out the best weapon option, as well as neck and waist.

Any input is appreciated.

Use your magic BP staff instead of Gridarvor unless you desperately need accuracy. Pet:DA does nothing for Flaming Crush. Same with belt, use Regal Belt if you have it. Neck is Adad Amulet if you don't have JSE neck.

Also, this is just a personal opinion, but path C Apogee is pointless. Go path A for your first set of head/body/feet. 10 more MAB will do far more for your magic pacts & Flaming Crush than 20 more attack will ever do for your physical pacts.

thanks so much for the replies dudes, really appreciate it.
The deal is that for head and feet I made 3 sets of +1 apogee (A, B, C)... cause someone told me I needed 1 for physical, 1 for magical, and one for hybrid.

Legs I made 2 sets of +1 (A, D)

I got an amazing x2 sets of Merlinic hands (one for magical and one for physical).

If flaming crush cannot double attack, then why does his favor give double attack... seems dumb and unproductive.

So back to the hybrid sets, Since I already have them, are they better than just plain magical or not?

Path A Apogee will favor Flaming Crush more then Path C. And you can just change the augment path @ Nolan if you want to. Path C is I guess a Starter set if you cant afford multiple +1's.

Avatars don't benefit from their own favor anyway.

It's not even that, in my opinion. There is zero reason to ever own Path C Apogee gear. One set of Path A, or two sets (A and B).
