Anyone else having an issue with Windower where it crashes not long after FFXI starts & you get the Accept/Decline option? O.o
yeah, everytime on one of my alts, I think I'm just going to rebuild the vm it's using.
It's the statustimer plugin.
That's weird as it doesn't affect my main character at all.

Every time I log in have to have a few attempts before it manages to get through to actual character selection. Ragnarok.Evalyn

Are you using Windows 8?
Regardless, please look here: http://forums.windower.net/index.php?/topic/361-windower-crashes-on-startup/?hl=%2Bcrash+%2Bstartup http://forums.windower.net/index.php?/topic/299-crash-between-pol-and-ffxi-startup/?hl=%2Bcrash+%2Bstartup (they may not have fix, I just looked up the problem and linked to ones with similar issues.) Submit your problem here: http://forums.windower.net/ I do have that problem, whenever I want to load timers as well.
Ragnarok.Evalyn said: » Are you using Windows 8? lolnope seconded, and it's not the statustimer plugin, I turned it off and still crash.
I'll probably just clone my main's VM later since it seems to be working just fine. Just have to make sure I backup the treasury settings I just set, as they have different crap. Happens to me every now and again. I turned off all plugins and restarted. If it lets you login with nothing active then sit there for a little bit and then close everything out and restart with your plugins back on and check.
Oh it works after I crash once, without even changing anything.

Make sure you have all the visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio updates. Some third party programs used to launch FFXI (Namely more popular programs like Windower or Ashita) won't work properly unless you have them installed. You'll want 2005~2013.
I'm not saying these will work, so please don't be upset if you try them and they don't. But they CAN cause problems, so I suggest you get them anyway. They may or may not be the fix to your problem. |
