Medical Staff threatened with gag order.
if this is really going on it is a serious problem.
yeah the conditions and treatment really need to be improved
I wonder if the publisher of this article is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.
It wouldn't be hard to track down those you quit as the "sources", since the grievances would be documented - either as legitimate concerns, or as dissention within the ranks. Also, it would make much more sense for these "sources" to go public with their complaints, if they are indeed legitimate, so that the people can have a detailed list by credible professionals, instead of some black-listed opinion coming from anonymous sources. Also, it's Fox News, and even worse, it's a Fox News Opinion piece, which as all the credibility of the flying spaghetti monster, without the spaghetti or the monster. it isn't just fox news I googled illegal immigrants lackland air force base and there were more sites.
So is this gonna be our useless arguing thread of the day?

It looks to be countering thia abc article about the clean conditions at the base. Which kinda of defeats the purpose of this being a "secret" camp. http://abcnews.go.com/US/surge-children-crossing-border-filling-lackland-afb/story?id=24013460 If the conditions are that bad there are serious issues, but I'm really not sure how this is going to be a long term financial problem. I'd really like to know how since most of the children are being sent to relatives and the others returned. But the article focuses on cheaply curable illnesses and then how this is a long term financial problem. Not sure how they are connecting those two. Edited ~ I tend to leave people to fact check on their own. it is easy and I can't be accused of cherry picking sites. fox news is no less credible in their news reporting than any other outfit.
What you said essentially amounts to "I don't want to think critically about this issue or look into the details of it myself but here is this link."

Considering that this, according to the diatribe spewed forth by an opinion writer, this Lackland AFB was supposedly secret, yet there is much public knowledge of this site, and more, which happens to contradict... almost everything that he's commented on. Why in the hell do they have to have this in San Antonio???
Why can't they go to, you know, Los Angeles or Detroit or NYC? I would understand that the healthcare system in San Antonio is outstanding (when it isn't government controlled, like Brooke Medical), but still..... Bismarck.Bloodrose said: » (Fox News is not a credible news source by any stretch of the imagination, largely in part because it's classified as an entertainment source, rather than a journalism or news source. There are no credible news sources if you are basing your decision on that argument. MSN, Huffington Post, Washington Post, CNN, ABC, NBC, they are all classified as an entertainment source to limit liability for the bad stories they publish daily.... nothing secret about lackland air force base, it is were all af personnel go for basic training. I should have listed a liberal news site instead seeing as they are sooooo credible. oops.

There are credible conservative news sources that report the facts, rather than blowing ***so far out of proportion that it discounts itself. Also, I didn't discredit Fox on the basis of being conservative, but if you want to make it an "us versus them" argument, by all means, go ahead. (Since I have explained in countless P&R threads, that I fall more heavily under American Conservative values than I do American Liberal) At least KN makes a valid argument about the state of credibility of differing sources... though the only one on the forums that outspokenly uses HuffPost regularly for anything, is fonewear. Bismarck.Bloodrose said: » though the only one on the forums that outspokenly uses HuffPost regularly for anything, is fonewear. Fox News is a creditable source, people only base their arguments on the opinions section of specific areas.
Yes, there is bias in their reporting, but you will always find bias in every source. Until machines write articles about the happenings of the world, there will always be bias in the news. I can go to CNN's opinion section and find 15 different biased opinions for Obama. I can go to MSN's front page and find 4 front page stories against the successful of America. That doesn't mean that neither of these companies cannot report what is happening in the world today.... The same goes for Fox News. People bash on them only because it goes against their agenda. Be honest with yourself King... That's not the ONLY reason lol...
So there are sick mexican kids at a hospital in America? I'm unsure as to what I'm supposed to be reading here or why I should be concerned... Is there a conspiracy to infect the american people with sick mexican kids? Is this about poor medical conditions? WHAT?!?!?!? Lakshmi.Flavin said: » Be honest with yourself King... That's not the ONLY reason lol... I would be doing that when there is a breach anyway.
I'm literally less than 3 miles away from Lackland Air Force Base.... Even though there isn't that many truly deadly diseases, just your basic plagues and famine that can be cured. What is really horrible is that the government is telling the medical workers not to discuss the mistreatment of foreign citizens in these camps... Didn't the fox news article say that the children had more rights than the staff?
This article didn't seem to have any kind of point beyond there are sick kids and government is telling you to not tell people about it but everyone already knows? Lakshmi.Flavin said: » This article didn't seem to have any kind of point beyond there are sick kids and government is telling you to not tell people about it but everyone already knows? What the author was told was the medical staff was not allowed to report to the outside what was going on in these camps. They ignored it and reported to the author, who in turn reported to Fox News. Now, we could question the authenticity of the sources, but the author is doing nothing more than reporting with opinions. It was a direct quote from his source... I still don't get how you take the leap from this to the mistreatment of foreign citizens.
Is he trying to creat sympathy for the workers? He failed at any rate if that was actually his intention... This just seems like a poorly written article on stuff we already knew about... it was already previously reported that H1N1 carrier was there and we all know that the government frowns on pretty much anyone saying anything about what they do... He didn't make any sort of claim that the children were being mistreated or that there was a danger to citizens... Only that his source pretty much didn't like to be told not to tell anyone about it lol... |
