But that was their whole argument and what they demanded not too long ago! They were literally protesting for that $15/hr and made their whole case for that amount specifically.

The family wants an investigation because the woman has no appearant history of depression or suicide attempts and was down in the area to start a new job. That and the 20 minutes or so when she died appear to be the only 20 minutes that aren't on tape.

Given the frequent correlation between poor mentally unstable individauls and petty crime, and police too frequently responding to it inappropriately, I don't think a serious overhaul of police training and methodology in the handling of suspects is unwarranted. No they may not have directly caused her suicide, but more appropriate handling of the person may have prevented it, and their excessive force certainly could have helped trigger it.
And a far more stringent process of ensuring suspects are properly treated wouldn't hurt. Police brutality hurts everyone, including other officers.
I don't know I'm kinda disappointed he didn't taser her. She could have shouted "Don't tase me whitey !"
