People don't like being told what to do, and the response is stronger in some than others.

Truth be told, I'm no better with other issues. I accused Altima of just having ODD a couple of days ago, but frankly there's a reason I never joined the military; I'd have been unfavorably discharged within a month or two.

Similarly, though. Getting your reason to override the revulsion of being told what to do when appropriate can make a very positive difference in your life.

Keeping on the same path because we don't want to be told

Seems quite a few people on this forum love to be told what to do and how to do it.

You want to make sure my kid eats healthy at school????? I'll make damn sure you don't succeed just cuz you told me!

Kids are told what to do on a daily basis. That they have to go to school, clean their rooms, do their homework, if they can or can't go out and what will be for dinner that night.

I don't get what the big deal is.

We know you don't understand what the big deal is and no matter what we say you fail to even try.

Now come on. Let's be honest.

We want to be the ones doing the telling.

Interesting, is that what you tell yourself?

That or were fooled into coming over to the "land of the free" to work as cheap labor once slaves weren't an option anymore. (Which is where mine all came from.)

Eh, it's not like the U.S. is special. There aren't a lot of countries that have their act together, and even fewer that actually contribute anything worthwhile.

Speak for yourself.

I'd gladly have some slow motion action with Lena Headey.

Actually the sequel was pretty terrible outside of Eva Green. Needs more Eva Green.

Most kids don't eat at school for every meal of the day. By the time they hit school, a lot of their likes and dislikes in food is already set. Most schools are nutrition minded, but they also have an understanding of what kids will and won't eat there. Forcing blanket and ineffective legislation is doing what exactly? It's not training kids to eat healthy if they don't do it at home. It's not encouraging them to eat healthy if their choice is between kale chips (<- hyperbole) at school or whatever crap they can bring with them. I'd say it does more to show them that healthy eating sucks, is restrictive, and is what "the man" wants them to do.
If it's innefective then that is an issue and it needs to be corrected.

Again, there is already an established problem. Is your answer to do nothing about it? This is too hard or my kid doesn't like that so... Don't tell me what to do!

Doing nothing continues to let the problem grow and grow. Is that what we should do?
