Abnormal psychology has two theories, somatogenic (biological disorder or illness) or psychogenic (psychological problems).

Which is it? I'd go with psychogenic, unless there can be a biological issue or brain damage found.

Yea but I feel like a woman trapped in a man's body ! Isn't that all that matters feelings !!

Guys, ever since I was 10 years old, I've always felt like a black man in a white guys body.

I demand you cater to my true self by affirming my existence as a black man.

So acquire enough capital and you too can become what lurks within.

Also, to be mildly serious, transitioning isn't as easy as it sounds. It actually sounds quite traumatic considering all the emotional as well as physical augmentations that go along with it.

Honestly, it sounds like too much work for all the 'its just a trend' arguments floating around.

Trendy isn't what I was getting at. You would not take me seriously if I told you I felt like a black man trapped in a white man's body. You'd (rightfully) tell me to go pound sand.

When do the protests start at the Olympic record keepers for denying this woman her rightful world records for the times she ran in 1976? I mean "you go gurl" "girl power" and all right?

Curious how skin colour also fall within a spectrum.

And feeling black has no meaning since there is nothing to feel about it other than stereotypical things like being good at basketball.

What exactly is feeling like a woman then, if not for stereotypical reasons? Did he have menstrual cramps? Did his nipples leak at a babies cry? Or is it yet another hypocritical situation?

Identifying with the female gender construct, i.e., the shared idea of what makes one feminine. It's not a hard concept unless you're trying to make it one. There's not a racial analogue.

150 years ago you know what was cray cray? Flying.

I bet those people dreaming to fly were crackpots who belonged in a padded room! If God wanted us to fly he'd have given us wings, an aluminum frame, jet fuel and a runway!

And hellfire missiles, what's the point of flying if you can't kill things while doing it?

The female gender construct is largely based on culture. Are you saying that there is no construct for racial culture?

Weird thought, but when this subject rears it's head on here, it always makes me wonder if the person seeking a sex change, male or female, had to go through a natural puberty as their desired sex, and not a synthetic hormone induced transition as an adult, would people still really have the desire to go under the knife?

Hmmm...Carry on.

EDIT: Just thinking in terms of cry for no reason/cry for the world/"I don't know why I'm crying!" versus surprise *** and spooge fests. Seems like a toss up.

Genetically? No.

Trans people don't necessarily have a dysfunction with cultural gender roles, it's not about being or feeling "feminine" or "masculine". It's about being in the wrong body. Women in oppressive Islamic cultures might be unhappy with their cultural gender role, they aren't trans.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Just imagine you take a woman's brain and transplant it into a man's body. "He" would feel pretty out of sorts, maybe like being trapped in the wrong body?

except there's no scientific evidence to support that it's a woman's brain, nor an easy way to quantify that's what the patient is feeling

motivations, both conscious and subconscious, are extremely complicated.. what's to say that seeing girls treated better from a young age doesn't progress to wanting to be a girl to believing you are a girl?

throw in unilateral acceptance by the ever-growing politically correct movement, and it's far from the weirdest thing a teenager's ever done to change their social status

There is plenty of evidence, there just isn't enough for a consensus and studies are moving slow because of the cultural stigma. There's no evidence that it doesn't work that way, yet you default not to a place of scientific ignorance, but to a place of vitriolic accusation and disgust.

So the solution would be mandatory extensive sessions with a professional before being cleared for gender re-assigning surgeries you think?

That way the person can realize they really don't need it, or they can have medical proof supporting their choice and affirmation and evidence of a professional agreeing it would help them become a healthy individual etc, removing any mental health worries.

That's already a requirement for GRS here.

New umbrella term, "body diversity" I.E. people who feel like they don't belong in their own bodies for some reason of another. Transgender, transsexual, transvestite, transracial, transable, take you new favorite societal division and become part of the victim class now!

So now they're just identifying with an opposing social construct? Why do they need special rights of access to opposing sex bathrooms again?

No, I'm saying they're not directly comparable.

For the 4159082141245th time, we segregate bathrooms by gender. A trans woman using a woman's bathroom isn't a "special right". It's how this has been working.

Because sex, sexuality, biology, and the other various aspects of the human body are dirty, dirty things of which you should be ashamed. Even knowing how your own works is dirty enough, we certainly can't be teaching children how other people's bodies work. That might impart the slightest amount of understanding, empathy, tolerance, or acceptance of differences.

And that's un-American and against God!

Homosexuality is much like pedophilia or any addiction. Users have desires they won't say no to and pursue fulfilling them regardless of social or economic consequences.

If my winkie get's hard while looking at farm animals, then it is just as acceptable since I was born with these desires and cannot change them.

No more alcoholic's anonymous for 2nd generation drunks, they were more than likely born predisposed to alcoholism. Thus, they were born that way, who are we to judge or try and change them.

TLDR; I don't really care. People can do whatever they want so long as they don't hurt another thing. However, my logic stands. Regardless of your feelings on the matter.

Have you found the gay gene? Until then, cry more.

Yeah, you keep saying that, but you really need to be more specific about how you think that would work in the case of large bathrooms. People would demand extra privacy in stalls and urinals would make people uncomfortable. The reduction in space and the increase in cost would be major deterrents. In spite of yours and Ramyrez's feels about the matter, there are logistic benefits in keeping them separate.

When did I bring feels into it?

You need to stop hanging around with certain people, it's making you say weird ***.

I'm all for more privacy in stalls, works for me.

Oh no, an increase in costs, what ever shall we do!

Talk about feelz on the matter.
