I was not raised Catholic, so I didn't get the joys of being hit by a ruler by a nun.

Instead, I got whapped on the bum by a principal several times while I was in school....

I never got ruler slapped. I behaved, because Sister Mary David was a *** giant.

Of course, she still wasn't as bad as Sister Mary Catherine, who was old as dirt and a tiny whisp of a woman but was kept alive by evil and the souls of unruly children.

170 charged in biker gang shooting

Quote:
The police charged about 170 people on Monday in the shootout among rival motorcycle gangs at a busy shopping plaza in this Central Texas city on Sunday that left at least nine bikers dead and 18 others wounded.

Law enforcement officials said the midday gun battle was primarily between the Bandidos and Cossacks gangs, a continuation of a long-running feud between the two groups, though members of the Scimitars — a gang affiliated with the Cossacks — and two other motorcycle clubs were also involved.

The people arrested after the shootout at the Twin Peaks Restaurant, in south Waco, were charged with engaging in organized crime linked to capital murder, said Sgt. Patrick Swanton, a Waco Police Department spokesman. It will be up to prosecutors and a grand jury to decide what charges they will ultimately face, but capital murder charges can carry the death penalty.

The episode, which left the restaurant and its parking lot littered with bullet shell casings and blood spatters, was so large and chaotic that for several hours the police were not sure how many people they had detained. Sergeant Swanton said Monday morning that the figure was 192, but he later revised it to 170, warning that it might change again, and said that rather than overwhelm the jail, the police used Waco’s Convention Center as a staging area overnight to hold those arrested.

More information about the two gangs...
Quote:
Both the Bandidos and the Cossacks originated in Texas in the 1960s, according to law enforcement officials and gang historians. Last year, two members of the Bandidos, including the president of the Abilene chapter, were indicted on charges of stabbing two other men, in what the police said was a conflict with the Cossacks.

“The view of the Bandidos is that Texas is their state,” said Terry Katz, vice president of the International Association of Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators, a group of about 600 analysts, investigators, police officers and prosecutors. The Bandidos “are the big dogs of Texas,” he said, but the smaller Cossacks gang was “not going to bow down,” and there has been a series of violent confrontations between them.

I wonder if Texas plans on doing anything to curb the power of these "motorcycle enthusiasts."

Well, they are all criminals, they all carry weapons, they wear cuts that identify them as members of a known criminal club, and they live out in the open. Whats up with that? Why are these guys allowed to ride around everyday and engage in criminal activity?
They don't even care that what they are doing is illegal. They just went to a restaurant, and shot a bunch of people, and the cops that were there, they shot at them, and more reinforcements were trying to get there to help. They have developed a culture where you get rewarded for fighting.
How about seizing the land they primarily operate on? How about freezing their assets? Stricter gun laws, no way thats happening in Texas, and the clubs know that, thus why they have so many charters there. I'm sure all that will happen is a special task force will be assigned and will accomplish nothing.

But they aren't all criminals, at least not provable, the ones that are are either blending with the crowd, or are arrested and tried.

What "gun law" would help here?

Businesses will cater to them as 1. they're customers 2. they don't want to tell them no.

Here's a good way to reduce their income though: end the silly "war on drugs" and you'll see their assets dry up.

Let them get committed on crimes they committed, not on "wearing cuts that identify themselves in a group of people" nor "carrying weapons (last I saw, that was a right protected to them by the 2nd Amendment. What you are proposing that anyone who has a weapon should be arrested for that...)". Also, living out in the open is a crime how again? Can you point to the law that makes it illegal to live out in the open, because if you do, I can use that against all of the homeless in the state (see my point? Probably not).

Let the crimes committed hang the criminals, not because you don't like what they are.

As for freezing assets, care to tell us where those assets are?

New law: All motorcycles must now be pink. You know, for visibility reasons. Self-consciousness is the ultimate weapon against biker gangs.

Unintended side effect: Motorcycle gangs now exclusively run out of San Francisco.

Actually the Hell's Angles had a marijuana shop in Amsterdam last I was there. Good prices too. And at the time not illegal but not legal either.

Some outlaw bikers hold down steady 9 - 5 jobs, sometimes not even as motorcycle mechanics, and neither sell nor do drugs.

And as to gun laws, almost every outlaw biker I ever knew well enough to know if they packed heat had a concealed carry permit.

Then again I live in WA, not TX.
