Was the OK city bombings religious based? Last I checked, it was anger towards the federal government.

You can blame the OKC bombings on people hating the government though.....oh wait....***....

Or here's another, more direct, link. A network of Christians hid Eric Rudolph, the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Park bomber, because they knew he was a good Christian who would only bomb abortion clinics. I can certainly blame that on all Christians can't I?
Man, talk about reaching. You would make Pleebo proud.

You want to know the difference between ISIS and Timothy McVeigh/Eric Rudolph? Purpose. Even I thought you would know the difference between a jihad (holy war) and revenge against the government....

It seems Alti is wrong about the lead poisoning in Flint being the Democrat's fault. Needless to say I am shocked.

Quote:
DETROIT (Reuters) - A task force appointed by Michigan’s governor said on Wednesday state officials showed stubbornness, lack of preparation, delay and inaction in failing to prevent a health crisis in the city of Flint caused by lead contamination in the drinking water.

There were failures on all levels of government, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a report from the task force said. However, the report highlighted failures of state agencies, especially the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), and said the state was “fundamentally accountable” for what happened.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has been criticized for the state’s poor handling of a crisis that garnered national headlines.

“It was a mixture of ignorance, incompetence and arrogance by many decision makers that created the toxic and tragic situation,” Chris Kolb, task force co-chair and president of the Michigan Environmental Council, a coalition of non-profit groups, said at a press conference in Flint.

The 116-page report included 36 findings and 44 recommendations to be taken so the state can avoid a similar crisis in the future, including fixing the state emergency manager law to compensate for the loss of local government control.

Under the direction of a state-appointed emergency manager, Flint switched water supplies to the Flint River from Detroit’s system in 2014 to save money.

The corrosive river water leached lead, a toxic substance that can damage the nervous system, from the city’s water pipes. Flint switched back to the Detroit system last October.

The task force said MDEQ should receive primary blame for the crisis, citing its failure to use corrosion control chemicals in Flint’s water system to prevent the lead leaching, and then resisting calls from others to take action after the lead poisoning was discovered.

“They missed the boat completely,” Kolb said.

Michigan this week outlined a plan involving several state agencies to help the city recover from the crisis. It included programs to address water infrastructure shortcomings and the health of children who have tested for high lead levels in their blood, expand support in Flint schools and boost economic development for the city.

The crisis has led to calls for Snyder to resign. Last week, several Democratic lawmakers criticized Snyder at a hearing about Flint, a working class, mostly African American city of 100,000 northwest of Detroit.

The crisis has led to several lawsuits in state and federal courts, and federal and state investigations.

“This report is a damning indictment of Governor Snyder’s philosophy of running government like a business,” U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Democrat from Maryland, said after the report was released.

Snyder said many of the task force recommendations were already being implemented by the state. “This is a problem that I’ve made a commitment to fix,” he said.

No, it's the entire government's fault. Who cares if it's the Republicans or Democrats fault, when it's the administration and the government workers who really *** up on all levels.

Not only is airport screening incredibly annoying travelling to the US from abroad -as you get screened multiple times at various points- and segregated into separate areas within the airport but US airports (international) are considered constitutional free zones....
That article does not mention airports at all.

In point of fact the only thing the international designation means for airports is that customs is available.
It could be better worded, but international airports are considered ports of entry (phrase used in the article) by the US Customs and Border Inspection agency.

Immigration inspection program

Edit: from the previous article:
Quote:
The spread of border-related powers inland is inseparable from the broader expansion of government intrusion in the lives of ordinary Americans. For example, CBP claims the authority to conduct suspicionless searches of travelers' electronic devices—such as laptops and cell phones—at ports of entry, including international arrivals at airports. These searches are particularly invasive as a result of the wealth of personal information stored on such devices. At least one circuit court has held that federal officers must have at least "reasonable suspicion" prior to conducting such searches and recent Supreme Court precedent seems to support that view.

Over a Million AZ Voters Disenfranchised; Sanders Voters Stand in Long Lines Only to be Denied the Right to Vote; Official Results Appear Flipped/Rigged

Justice Gazette - First time I have run across them

Quote:
March 22, 2016. Arizona. Tonight, voters in Arizona, who are continuing to stand in line to vote are angry that the state's Democratic primary has been called for Hillary Clinton when the majority of Bernie Sanders's voters have not been allowed to vote. As election day began, it was learned that 1.3 million voters who reportedly would have voted for Sanders were disenfranchised from voting in the Democratic primary. Additionally, significant numbers of registered Democratic voters who were told they were not on the Democratic voting lists included long-time Democrats who had voted in the Democratic primaries before without any problem. Others who properly switched their party were told they were also not on the list. At best , these Democratic voters were told, they could vote a provisional ballot which would not be counted today.

Those who continued to wait in long lines late into the night to vote had to combat discouragement from a corporate media that kept telling their votes wouldn't matter as Clinton had already won.

What is odd is that those reporting they were denied the right to vote were primarily Sanders supporters. Last weekend, Sanders campaign workers in Arizona were concerned that their voter information database may have been hacked. This database contained information from voter surveys, showing which specific voters were supporting which Sanders as opposed to Clinton. The final day, volunteers had to go out with paper lists because of the hacking problem. Were these extensive lists used to determine which voters would be removed from the voter roles? Adding to the confusion were the closing of 140 polling locations in Arizona's most populous County, limiting Maricopa residents to 60 polling place. The long lines favored the leisure class, particularly the top one-percenters, who are favoring Clinton, and disfavored the ninety-nine percenters who the Clinton team doesn't want voting. It is difficult to expect middle and lower class voters, most of whom backed Bernie Sanders, to take four or more hours off work to vote. Yet, videos show significant numbers of Sanders supporters did just that....
And LOTS more.

Why was their an emergency manager to begin with you ask? (You didn't btw) Why did he have to save money?

Go back and find my quote. I'm not going to bother but it went something like this.

The democrats literally stole millions of dollars from the city and ran in straight into the ground! Hundreds of people were involved and many of them were fired and/or removed from their posts.

Garuda.Chanti said: »

An unforeseen circumstance that happened while trying to fix what the democrats did. Believe it or not ***happens and hindsight is 20/20. The EPA, "Federal government" tested the water and knew of the problem before Snyder and did nothing.

I have seen zero evidence saying Snyder did nothing once he found out about it, he did the opposite, actually took responsibly even though it was not his fault and set things in motion to fix the problem! Name me one Democrat that would do anything like that!! You will not find ONE!

Oh, and the best part! The citizens of Flint turned right back around and voted in more Democrats! It doesn't get anymore more uniformed than that! Perfect example of sheep being lead to the slaughter.

He doesn't get this pick through and it only helps Republicans get out the vote. The children with no life experience and people looking for handouts that Democrats depend on don't give a crap about this.

I think we can all agree hypocrisy runs rampant in our congress and term limits need to be established ASAP!

Sure go ahead, its not going to help you, it certainly isn't going to make McConnell's summer go by any faster. One GOP senator has already broken rank, many more to follow. Obama nominated a person that the most senior GOP senator recommended, and they can't even have a hearing? It doesn't help the Republicans at all, especially since this is going to be a nothing year from Congress.

That article is really hard to believe. I can buy the idea that there would be corruption in an election with Democrats, but the notion that there is a large number of Bernie Sanders supporters with jobs? Let's not get too carried away here.

Flint Water Crisis Fast Facts
CNN

Quote:
October 1, 2014 - The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) issues a governor's briefing paper outlining possible causes for the contamination issues. Among the problems are leaking valves and aging cast iron pipes susceptible to a buildup of bacteria. The MDEQ concludes flushing the system and increasing chlorine in the water will limit the number of boil water advisories in the future.
This deals with other contamiants than lead. Yet check the date. The governer did nothing. Several angencies did too little.

Flint water crisis: five takeaways from Rick Snyder's emails
The Guardian US edition

Just the section headlines, the full thing is way too long.
Quote:
October 2014: Snyder advisers call Flint river ‘downright scary,’ urge reconnection to Detroit

February 2015: Snyder advised of problems in background memo

March 2015: Snyder’s top aide learns of legionnaires’ outbreak; stays silent

April 2015: Hollins asked to debrief Snyder about Flint’s water

July 2015: ACLU publishes investigation and EPA memo outlining lead concerns

Needless to say the full article goes into these in depth.

June 1992, Mr. Biden, then the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said there should be a different standard for a Supreme Court vacancy “that would occur in the full throes of an election year.” The president should follow the example of “a majority of his predecessors” and delay naming a replacement, Mr. Biden said. If he goes forward before then, the Senate should wait to consider the nomination.

“Some will criticize such a decision and say that it was nothing more than an attempt to save a seat on the court in hopes that a Democrat will be permitted to fill it, but that would not be our intention,” Mr. Biden said at the time. “It would be our pragmatic conclusion that once the political season is underway, and it is, action on a Supreme Court nomination must be put off until after the election campaign is over.

“That is what is fair to the nominee and essential to the process. Otherwise, it seems to me,” he added, “we will be in deep trouble as an institution.”

Not at all, the senate can either do its job or do nothing in an election year. This is literally the only thing on the docket other than a CR to keep the gov't open. They have nothing to do, there will be no bills coming from the House, they have no excuse to not hold confirmation hearings.
