I absolutely love the criticism of US's health system. I'd love to see Canada or Sweden handle epidemics like the US. While other countries beg for aid we are sufficient to tackle and provide adequate care for epidemics. It was France and the US who tackled the HIV epidemic. Reagan and Bush handled HIV way better than some countries handled Ebola. Neither systems had treatments available to them.

When people rail against the healthcare system, they're railing against the experience as a user within the states not power projection on the part of the US.

For a typical healthcare user in the states, the system is a nightmare of complexity, lopsided service and prices so exorbitant most people are one major surgery from bankruptcy. Might as well have that car crash kill you since it'll probably wipe out your nonexistent savings.

But we all know this already.

I've been unemployed before and medi-cal was fantastic. I experienced BETTER service. Never did I receive a bill, my meds for were always covered. i didn't have to go to a county hospital I got to go to Kaiser.

Even now with insurance my experience is fantastic. My specialists and lab tests are pricey. They're always covered. I pay 20 copay for my specialist. And I pay 50 bucks for my 3000 monthly meds. I can't complain.

Wonderful. If only every American had such a glowing review of the healthcare system. I once got a $50,000 bill for a light procedure. Now if I didn't have insurance I just might have walked into traffic that day.

The cost of procedures is due to how the US approaches medicine. MDs are expensive. Get their salaries cut. No reason a research scientist should make less than half of physician.

Lmao. Yeah ok, go back to grow cucumbers or whatever you do in your freetime.

Actually America grows and produces everything it could ever need and more. Why exactly does it need the rest of the world?

Sure the rest of the world has been proven to need America! But not the other way around!

Waaah. I demand everyone else pay for me!

Says the guy that apparently has never seen an itemized hospital bill.

Or has been denied service due to a preexisting condition.
Hospital bills are in large part so ridiculous because we have to pay for everyone who doesn't.

why should your pre-existing condition be someone else's problem?

But.. But.. The ACA was suppose to fix this!

It did. It's one of the only parts of the provision most pols want to keep. That and the staying on parents plans to 26.

Pretty selective memory there Bacon.

Reagan ignored Aids. Bush I admitted its existence. Reagan's attitude was "There's a disease that only kills ***? And we're supposed to do something about it?"

Epidemics are handled by government agencies, like the NIH, surgeon general's office, and the public health service. These are not the insurance companies that run our health care at enormous profit.

I could argue both ways for Reagan. He had a machine with a very poor accuracy at detecting the virus. Was he supposed to throw the nation into more wide spread panic?

It's the insurance company that pays for the treatments. The US government only intervenes if you require assistance or there's a significant public health concern.

Obama and the Democrats hope and change. Too bad Bernie is going down. Democratic Socialism could have fixed this!
Quote:
The last recession ended in June 2009, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research. In the six full calendar years since then (2010-2015), real annual GDP growth has never exceeded the 2.5 percent it hit in 2010.

“The average growth rate for economic recoveries since the 1960s is 3.9 percent ranking the Obama recovery, with an average GDP growth rate of just 2.1 percent, among the slowest in history,” said Sen. Dan Coats (R.-Ind,), who chairs the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress.

Before this period, the longest stretch of years when real GDP did not grow by at least 3.0 percent, as calculatd by the BEA, was the four-year stretch from 1930 to 1933—during the Great Depression.

The Old GOP has failed to unite, Obama has failed period. Why are you guys so against Trump and Cruz?

Rubio and Clinton would just be more of the same and I think we can all agree we do no need more of the same.

Anyone else notice how she neglects to mention which is which? Not only are you wrong but the attempt to guide the debate away from its original path is really bad. At the very least elaborate on your wrongness.

So my choices this election are socialist, fascist and fundamentalist..

Thanks for setting that straight.

In some ways being a businessman is a good inoculation against fascism. To businessmen compromising and deal making are ways of life, to fascists those ideas are anathema.

As for Cruz being a fundamentalist. Would you care to show a reason or do you just like using words that have little or no bearing on the people you label ?

If I was to put a ist or ism on either of these two it would be.

Actually I'd love to see America cut off aid to the rest of the world and watch it burn.
I'd have to look up the specifics, but foreign aid isn't about the U.S. giving away money to help other countries' population. It's one method of exporting inflation and helps other countries to purchase weapons from the U.S. or other countries so that whatever country or countries they are fighting have to purchase even more weapons or purchase weapons from the U.S. Foreign aid helps 'stimulate' the global economy (military part) and exports USD inflation.

What bothers me about Trump the most outside his flammatory and ludicrous plans in policy, is his heavy handed emphasis on nationalization in a world that is inevitably leaning to globalization. For better or worse, I feel it is the future of humanity, and to go against the grain and building an "us vs. them" mentality across your populace is ill advised IMO.

Not a problem that US is facing alone atm. We had an entire thread dedicated to these idiots in EU where they are on the rise as well.

People cannot even agree what is best for their country and you want people to agree on whats best for the world..

The World is only leaning towards globalization because that means they all get money from America.
